The scoring for tap to advantage has been reduced
I didn't know this. Where was it announced?

Bad news for Gawn you'd think, and probably also Goldy. Maybe good for Grundy (in relative terms) as he doesn't rely on the HTA so much for his points?

Really like the discussion here and in the RMT thread about the rucks. I have a few disparate thoughts:

- There are no risk-free options in the ruck this year. (This is probably true every year). I don't mean that just in the sense that nothing is certain in this game, but in the sense that every pick has a significant downside well within the realms of possibility.

- I have said this elsewhere and it is a sub-point to the above but I think a lot of people overstate the risk of cheap picks and understate the risk of expensive picks. This is partly due to how people value trades. I think trades are a bit overvalued on this site sometimes. The idea of using two trades to fix up failed rookies/cash-cows in my R2 spot scares me less than paying $700k for a player going at 105 and being stuck a whole premo behind the teams that nailed their value picks, leaking 40 points a week until teams are fully upgraded.

- I think we are too conservative and too certain when we state our predicted ranges. We tend to take last year's average and adjust up or down depending on our predictions, but the reality doesn't work like this. I definitely include myself here, and I know there's no real alternative, unless someone can introduce a bell curve probability app so we can easily upload graphs to our posts.

- It is too early to know. This is even more true this year before we see how the rule changes affect the flow of the game and SC scoring. I have gotten myself into the position before of being anti certain players, making the case against them here, and it's hard to extricate yourself once you're there. I started to see everything through the prism of proving my point, which was bad for my judgment. I think it's useful to avoid this.
Still the best and most logical voice on this forum - in a pretty competitive field.

Totally agree with all you've said here. The last point in particular is a salient and indeed sobering thought. In saying that, however, I won't be picking Grundy or Gawn this season - and anyone who tries to convince me otherwise can get stuffed. Fort/Clark R1/2 all the way.

The comp would be pretty boring if everybody picked the same players, ay!

I know this is tongue-in-cheek but I think a comp where you all start with the same team and can only gain advantage through trades would be awesome.
(as in a separate team/ league obviously, not as an alternative to the whole thing)

Excellent debate here.
From memory taps to advantages points are less this year so this might effect Goldy ?

Still says hit out to advantage is 5 points
Had a look back to 2018 and could find any change.

This was 2018

And according to the current SC website it is 5 points this again.

I don’t think anything has changed...maybe you’ve read discussion around here of the more real life scoring and taken it as a change.

So has anyone started on purpose THE cookie cutter team, ie filling your team from the top percentage down. Then using your trading prowess to get to full premo. You would never fall too far behind the pack, you would think using this strategy, because after all we are playing against other sc teams?

How convincing would Fort/Clarke not getting selected round 1 and a pair of 150s for Gawn/Grundy be? :p

Agree - I often see picking a starting team, and trading, as two different mini-games within Supercoach!

I was just thinking about this.

Anyone interested in sacrificing one of the other formats to give this a go?

Could base teams on that platforms most popular picks a week out from season start (if ownership % is available) - or agree on some other arrangement. Allow 2 trades prior to round one and go from there.

I guess it hinges on everyone in the league/group following the agreement before the comp starts!

I’d certainly give it a go if enough others wanted to try it.

EDIT: Mods might need to move this post somewhere more appropriate!

I would definitely be up for it in AFL Fantasy if we got a league together. I would vote for creating our own cookie cutter as a group rather than using just ownership %. But details can be hashed out.

Anyone know if Grundy's training again?
It's only been a week and the Pies expect 2 weeks, so maybe a bit early to expect him to be training again.
What surprises me is that he needs 2 weeks off for a bruised toe, hmmm. I hope it is not worse than what they are letting the public know.

……….Brodie Grundy is expected to miss a fortnight of training with a bruised little toe...…...

I still have nightmares about Sandy’s Turf Toe ... this is completely different, right?
