Yeah love the defender bunch this year
So much stronger then the forward line

Guys like laird Whitfield lloyd are all capable of 110+
Stewart Ryan Ridley McDonald all potential 105+ guys then the safe types of Daniel short mills and crisp who will all be 95-105
That’s without mentioning the breakout potential of guys like Williams in the guts lukoscious with the juicy new kick out rules Witherden and Duggan in a new midfield role.
The backline is really appealing and a big factor why I was planning on starting laird in the middle.

Not sure what we’re gonna get yet from Docherty and Howe who are also elite guys.

Think with the new scoring and lack of scaling for big moments Maynard and saad will drop into that next pack with rich vlastuin Houston Salem Saad sheppard etc

Very keen to see how the kpds scoring is weighted this year
could a may Blicavs Haynes rampe andrews type break into that top 5 range?

Fairly keen on Luke Ryan as a solid POD this year. Took his game to another level last year and will have even more freedom this year so hoping he can even improve on his output from last year.
Their game style is suited to him to a tee
Chipping and racking up marks at will and maintaining possession
Another factor why I’m keen on young over milera

I feel like there are 10 defender premiums I'm happy to start. Group just feels really stable.
100% easiest line to pick from by miles this year
Can see 10 guys going 100+
Mids will always be good but uncertainty as to who will be top 8-10 guys
forwards have a bunch of elite guys at the top but danger hampered Hawkins won’t be near it Dunkley a million mids around him now zorko age factor with dusty in second gear til post bye and Marshall with ryder in the way

Actually love the backs and would go 4 premos minimum in 2021

I'll be grabbing Marshall just from rd1 as cover if Gawn/Grundy misses. Likely to have a donut if you have Treacy at R3. Is a few R/F rookies but Thilthorpe at 203k is the most likely to feature.
Agreed. Marshall the only premium FWD I'm confident in starting at this stage. Marshall averaged 104 with Ryder last year, no concerns whatsoever for mine that he at a minimum matches that, and to be honest I expect him to probably outdo that. Back to full length quarters, Ryder another year older, I can see Ryder being managed further again this year as well. Throw in the RUC cover via Treacy and he's just too hard to pass up for mine.

Probably something for the FWDs thread, but nonetheless.

I might be wrong with something here.

But I recall Daniel had a better average at Marvel compared to other grounds in 2018/2019?

With no games there last year, assuming they have games there in 2021 - he could be a bit underpriced?

What's Lloyd record like at SCG, should have 22 games there. how they intending to do interstate games in this environment? should make all games NSW, most confident government in their program.

Loving all the defender options this year.

Lloyd is a season killer. 16/17 tonnes is amazingly good with 13 of those 16 being 110+! Watching the seagull go huge every week just made me depressed not having him. Gonna just pay full price for him.

Laird basically a midfielder and was a great POD for me during the 2nd half. I'd say he's a bit underpriced.

It's my 3rd pick that is a bit up in the air.

Whitfield - Had a slow start to the year and was a bit inconsistent at times. I think I can get him cheaper.

Stewart - very consistent performer. Scored 10/14 tonnes.

Ryan - my favourite POD of the 2nd half of the year. Kick in specialist. Made me enjoy footy more when I had him. Really want to start him too but might wait for him to have the odd poor score. 13/17 tonnes.

McDonald - Broke out end of the year, could be a great POD pick.

Docherty - Started well but became a poor pick. Hopefully is value.

Williams - cheap but injury prone but being promised midfield role could be good.

Great post. Just cut Hickey R3 and upgrade whitfield to lloyd. Agree with all this, Whitfield slightly underpriced due to concussion, however, seems to get injured every year. Lightly built skilled player that can glide through heavy traffic with ease yet break in half when hit.

Just looking at Lloyd's history v the teams he plays in the first 5 rounds:-

Round 1 v Bris, SC Avg :- 98
Round 2 v Ade, SC Avg :- 86
Round 3 v Rich, SC Avg :- 91
Round 4 v Ess, SC Avg :- 85
Round 5 v GC, SC Avg :- 77

Quite surprising - we know he had 16 x 100's from 17 games last season but we also know that his scores were inflated/ unusual season.

With so many solid defender options & him being close to 100K more than anyone else, it is tempting to run the gauntlet & hope he drops in price. I did hear he missed training recently, had some issue but no idea what it was/ how serious.

Hard to squeeze all of Gawn/Grundy/Neale/Lloyd in - with Gawn/Grundy the clear top 2 in the rucks & Neale the top option in the mids (some can make a case for Jack Macrae but Bevo as his coach & so many quality mids at the dogs is a real concern for mine), I am just contemplating if Lloyd is the big premium you take a risk in not starting especially with the amount of quality defender options this year that are well priced.

I believe they would be career averages, including his first 4 seasons before he broke out. Just looking at his last 3 games against his first 3 opponents (which you can see on his profile on the SC site), the averages are 113, 98, 116. Much better.
