I Have them at 18 with John Hastings (retired) and Jordan Silk who was named under the Tom Curran news. pretty much same team as Ben's Beasts just Silk in over Pope. Denly & SOK as spinners don't need a 3rd.
correct you are , I assume they are allowed someone to replace Hastings.

Looks like Hurricanes have one spot left , then squads are complete although I gather they are busy confirming Archer's availability.

Just thinking about Scorchers options, I'm off their batting lineup entirely with the possible exception of Klinger. It's not good, Turner and Cartwright don't seem to be in any sort of form and Cartwright hasn't done much in this format anyway. Kinda surprised Jhye Richardson isn't seen as an automatic inclusion for them, he's absolutely on fire at the moment whereas Dorff and NCN are both either struggling for form and match fitness or constant injury struggles have done them in a bit. NCN's pace was down in the T20s and Dorff absolutely sprayed it. There's a definite element of risk in picking them early on I think.
Think Head will still make it in the Aussie team, though Handscomb is certainly putting the pressure on.

I can't see how Labuschagne can fit in the Heat side - and I'd also question Ross who you have listed in the team prediction. I feel like Heazlett and Bryant are both ahead of them. (Heazlett no doubt). It's probably the hardest team to pick though. Mujeeb, Steketee, Pattinson and Cutting are probably certainties - but Cutting won't bat higher than 7 (if Peirson 6). And Doggett will probably get picked too. So it's mighty hard to fit all those bats into 5 spot, will be interesting to see how they go.

With Botha playing for Canes it wouldn't shock me to see them take Rogers over Rose. Toss up though. Ditto Doran/Jewell

I know Worrall has been bowling the house down in Shield but I suspect Stars will leave him out in favour of Coleman/Beer. Or even both, and lose Dean (open with Dunk/Maddinson), Gotch to 6.

No chance Abbott bats above Dwarshuis or Nevill (or possibly even SOK?) but overall agree. May see Fallins ahead of Pope. Love his quicker ball.

Hoping this is the year the Thunder finally realise Patterson is costing them games as an opener. They've deadset got rocks in their head if they don't go 1 Watson 2 Buttler 3 Root. Trlly bizarre stuff. Agree Jay Lenton's batting is good enough to take a spot if Buttler is keeping.
My tip for the Heat lineup would be Heazlett in for Ross, Heazlett at 3 with Burns at 4 or 5. Labuschagne probably plays ahead of Bryant as an extra bowling option as Cutting and Patto are both liabilities, going the extra bowler with Doggett or Lalor if Doggett isn't fit (quad injury in the shield game before last I think) leaves them with a pretty long tail. Patto can bat but isn't much of a hitter. If it were up to me Doggett would play ahead of Patto who's always gone for plenty in short form stuff but I'm sure Patto will play providing he's fit.

The Stars bowling lineup looks hard to pick, they could rotate a lot looking at the options they have available. Bird and Worrall are both great options for pitches that might offer something but one or both could got out for Beer and or Coleman otherwise with Bravo and Stoinis there as all-rounders. Dean looks like an unfortunate necessity, Gulbis is the only other batting option they have unless Handscomb's available. Even then, Dean seems to be in shocking form at the moment and will probably make Patterson look like a T20 star.
depends , which brother is he ? hahaha

I think he is the one who had Warner out for 99 but was called for a no-ball.

2 Tests , 11 ODI , 7 T20

should be reasonably priced

still no word about Archer so at least we can plan for Short & Denly to bring in for Round 3.

bit of a anti-climax to be honest , honestly thought it was going to be Stokes :-(
He's that guy who inexplicably played during the last Ashes series and kept bowling slower balls.

Feeling comfortable two weeks out. Just waiting on the Archer confirmation now.

Only other thing is for all my bench players to be named. Two will definitely be named so now I just need the other three to play round 1.

The three will need to consist of two $42,000 players and one $62,500 player from either Sixers or Hurricanes so should be able to manage that with Doran, Jewell, M Edwards, Nevill, Pope, J Edwards and Phillipe all in the mix to play round 1.

I think you will be safe with at least 3 of the Sixers, Sangha also in the mix if Thunder don't play Lenton, he is alos $ 62,500.00

curious now to see your side

MMarsh dropped, do we all rush him into our sides now :)
Ha!

Just as I say i'm comfortable with my team..

Guess this means Whiteman misses out and the Scorchers have yet another bowling option in their XI..

Tye, Willey, Agar, M Marsh, NCN, Dorff and probably one of Richardson/Qadir. Bloody hell..

wonder what a all Scorcher XI would cost and score in week 1.

M Marsh, Willey, Turner, Cartwright , Klinger
Inglis
Tye, Agar, Behrendorff, Coulter-Nile, Richardson

leaves $ 458,200.00 for a bench

washout for the Brisbane v Striker game :)

Guess there's a bit of risk involved if planning to start with M Marsh.
He will play both games of the Scorchers round 1 DGR.
Then unless you are planning on trading him out straight away there's the risk he gets the call up for the second test and then he misses from round 2 onwards..

Round 1 commences the day AFTER the 2nd Test, will depend on when they name the Boxing Day/New Year's Test Squad and when they all meet in Melbourne.

Scorchers play the Renegades on the 20th December & the Sixers on the 22nd

Need to see how SMarsh, Head & Handscomb go in Adelaide first, and see how MMarsh goes in the shield game against Victoria starts on Friday.

Think you just pencil in one Marsh/Willey/Agar and wait.

1ST TEST Dec 6 - 10
2ND TEST Dec 14 - 18

Ah, I meant the 3rd test. Same difference, it’s a risk picking him for just their round 1 DG knowing he could get the call up for Boxing Day.

It’s looking like it will be the Scorchers we choose to leave out that might become our season defining decisions!

I was looking at their batsmen the other day , you can almost bet 1 of Cartwright , Klinger or Turner will be a good pick Week 1but I am not confident going with any of them.

Is it case of selecting 4-5 from Tye , Agar , Willey , Behrendorff , Coulter-Nile and crossing your fingers.

M Marsh getting dropped confuses things as well.

Maybe you then need to trade 2 of them out (+ Lynn in Week 2) to your required Striker players.

Lynn + McCullum + UrRahman only gives you $ 408,900.00 to play with which limits your Striker players unless you start a heap of cash.

Decisions , decisions

Turner is very much in my considerations, but I agree, Cartwright and Klinger could do just as well. I just feel a couple of their bowlers are going to miss out (score wise) because there are so many, so it might come down to choosing the ones that get a bat higher up the order? But, that could be dangerous foregoing Tye?

Turner is the one I like the most , currently have Klinger (mainly because he is cheap) , just need him to get to Batter 6 in case he gets stuck scoring 30-40.

IF Perth did not have a DWG I probably would not start him , just seems the logical C.

2 Away games prefers me to select Agar.

Wiley's batting just never seems to come off in Big Bash , so much potential but little substance.

Dorff and NCN prices just see them to hard to ignore.

What happens now with Marsh ?

Looking back to last season

Tye 91.17 (is it maintainable ?)
Agar 73.11
Willey 71.67
Kelly 63.00
Richardson 43.13
Turner 39.27
Cartwright 33.36
Klinger 29.30

Bresnan 64.20
Johnson 47.9

so probably at least 4 minimum from Tye , Agar , Willey , Behrendorff (Richardson) , Coulter-Nile.

Personally I think Qadir also plays so that is 6 bowlers (2x4 , 4x3) , if Marsh plays he will bowl.

Really need Agar & Marsh to be in the Test Squad to make it easier.

Nick Lachmund won BBL04 Fantasy and here is what he had to say...

1. What is your team name and where can people follow you if you have twitter?
Team Punishment and I am NOT on Twitter (I might be too old for that…)

2. What was the keys to your success and any advice to new players?
You don’t need to be the biggest cricket fan to find success in BBL Fantasy. I’m a much bigger AFL fan but I’ve had more success with BBL. This is all based on strategy. Managing the bye rounds and double game rounds is the key. You can pretty much rely on all of the common players being picked on the Facebook groups and forums to know who you should consider putting in your team. But planning out at least the first six rounds and maximising the number of players that you have playing twice is the key to success.

3. Who is the must have player and why?
Chris Lynn. If he is playing in round one with two games to play, pick him and put the VC on him. The risk level of not picking him is astronomical!

4. Will you have more bowlers or batsmen in your side considering the all-rounder changes?
I’m currently about half and half. There’s value in both lines this year, by the looks of it. I don’t think I’ll be too batsmen or bowler heavy going into round one.

5. Two part question, will you have D’Arcy Short in your starting team and is James Pattinson a must have at 62k with a double game in week one?
Short is currently in my team and likely to still be there come round one. He was dominant last year and has a double game round in round three. The last thing you want to happen is find yourself in a position where you can’t afford to have Short for his double game round. If Pattinson plays round one, pick him. It’s that simple. He has a double game, he is a monster when he’s not injured and he is as cheap as chips. Not picking him would be ridiculous.

6. Who is someone you think will be a smoky this year?
This is a tough one to answer at this point. As the season gets closer and the teams start playing some scratch matches, a few smokies will start to turn up. I do, however, like Sam Heazlett and Moises Henriques this year. They’re in a few teams but I think they should be in more, based on their value this year.

7. Making a big call, if you don’t start with…… You won’t win this year?
Chris Lynn. I think in round one, he could end people’s season if they don’t have him.

8. Heat & Scorchers have a double game week one how many are you looking at starting with?
I currently have eight, all on field.

9. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us… which player is on the never again list for BBL08?
I do not believe in never again lists. I’ve got sucked into not picking blokes in the past due to their history of burning me and I’ve missed on some great picks, particularly in AFL fantasy comps. In saying this, every time I look at Ben Dunk’s name on my bench (which he is at the moment), I feel a bit sick. If he disappoints me anywhere near as much this year as he did last year, I may revise my thoughts on a never-again list.

10 Which two big bash sides face off in the Grand final?
I think Perth are (as they are almost every year) the team to beat. I’ve got a good feeling about the Heat this year as well. I think I’ll pick the Heat to upset the Scorchers in the final.

Tomorrow's winner is @THCLT winner of BBL05 and as a exclusive to SCS I am posting tomorrow's now before @BBLfreehitpod does.

1 -What is your team name and where can people follow you if you have twitter?
FLYING HORSES
No twitter, but I’m a moderator on SuperCoachScores where we have a dedicated forum to discuss all things Big Bash Fantasy.

2-What were the keys to your success and any advice for new players?
As I reflect on my successful BBL05 campaign, a few things stood out which is apt for new players as it was my very first attempt at BBL Fantasy:
  • A good starting team with flexibility to trade in players of choice and a having a robust trading plan.
  • Targeting DGR players to maximise scoring opportunity for their respective rounds.
  • Nailing your captain selections, despite one less than desirable choice, I managed to select 3 who were the top scorers for the round.
3- Who is the must have player and why?
This is always a hard, almost impossible question to answer in any Fantasy sports and wouldn’t everyone like to have the ‘crystal ball’ before we start, myself included.
As with most other Fantasy sports, it’s not necessarily who you start with that’s most important, sometimes it’s who you omit from your starting squad that can prove to be just as decisive. Missing out on those eventual Rd1 bolters will not be terminal to your chance of success it just means that you have to be smarter with your trading and maybe take some risks in order to bridge the gap.
In saying that, the scheduling of fixture for the opening round dictates that our focus should be on starting as many Heat and Scorchers players as practical. Hence Lynn, McCullum, Willey, Tye and Co. should be on the top of our list of priorities when forming our starting squad.

4 - Will you have more bowlers or batsmen in your side considering the all-rounder changes?
The SC scoring system is designed to reward the very elite batsmen, especially those who can go on to notch up big innings. Think D’Arcy Short who ended with 3 of the Top 10 scores recorded for BBL|07. With that says, Tye, Bravo, Abbott, Christian & Co. also showed that they are capable of scoring heavily when given the right pitch conditions.
Having a balanced mix of top order batsmen and bowlers, mixed in with some handy DP players will provide you with a good platform and flexibility to trade your way through the season.

5 - Two part question, will you have D’Arcy Short in your starting team and is James Pattinson a must have at 62k with a double in game week one?
I’m really 50/50 on whether to start D’Arcy Short or not. My initial starting squad will be built around Heat and Scorchers players and probably 1 or 2 Strikers players. I would only start with D’Arcy Short if the funds allows, otherwise I’ll have a plan to trade him in for the start of his DGR in Rd3 for reasons stated above.
If the Heat’s starting XI for the opening of BBL|08 against the Strikers indicates that James Pattinson is every chance to get a bowl, then he’ll more than likely starts on the field for my team.

6 - Who is someone you think will be a smoky this year?
I think Marcus Harris from the Renegades could be ready for a ‘break out’ season. He has put together two reasonable BBL campaigns, averaging 50 SC points with a SR of 130. Opens the batting and could shoulder more responsibility at the top of the Renegades batting line up should Finch holds his position in the Test squad. If he carries his good domestic form into the BBL season, then there’s no reason why he can’t continue to build on the upwards trajectory of his past two seasons.

7 - Making a big call: If you don’t start with __________, you won’t win this year!
Getting off to a good start is imperative if one’s going to contend. With both Heat and Scorchers scheduled to play twice in the opening round, it has to be a player from one of those two teams. The Scorchers are on the roads for both games, whilst the Heat stays at home (Gabba and Metricon Stadium). Based on that fixture, I’m leaning towards Chris Lynn or Brendon McCullum. Both can be damaging on their days, but I would give the nod to Chris Lynn for his potential higher ceiling.

8 - Heat and Scorchers have a double game week one, how many players are you looking at starting with?
At this early stage, I’m leaning towards the Heat batters and Scorchers bowlers, so probably 7-8 players with a slight lean towards the Scorchers as the Heat have consecutive BYE for Rd2 and Rd3.

9 - Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me three times, shame on both of us! Which player is on the never again list for BBL08?
Cameron Boyce – I will not be tempted again despite the move from the Hurricanes to the Renegades.

10 - Which two big bash teams face off in the Grand Final?
Adelaide Strikers to face off against Perth Scorchers with the former to make it back-to-back Big Bash titles.
