Sports - Cricket - Twenty20 Big Bash - Futures

Had to throw a few bucks on some players at outrageous prices.

Most Wickets
Mujeeb 60/1
Daniel Sams 150/1
Willey 275/1
Mickey Edwards 500/1

And Travis Dean most runs at 500/1 is huge overs. With Handscomb playing Test and Maddinson breaking his wrist today, he's probably assured of a spot to open. Anyone that opens must be given serious consideration, and he's in nice form.
Dean's Shield Scores

6 , DNB
0 , DNB
75 , 10*
5 , 11
0, 0
16 , 50*

I guess today he is in form ?

Rotten luck for Maddinson , just saw vision on the News , physio did him no favours grabbing his arm.

Gotch & Maddinson injured , Handscomb in the Test Squad , Stars may throw up quite a few cheapies to start , going to have too many options on the bench at this rate.

Lynn scored 113 from 45 balls today in a Premier League T20 match.

Just a lazy 15 Sixers.

Scored 37 from 19 balls on Saturday.
Saw some highlights on twitter, think they must've been from his first 50 runs as at the stage I saw it there was no news saying that he had tonned up yet. Anyway, from the 6 balls of footage, there was 5 genuinely waist high full tosses screaming to be smacked for 6!! Which he did lol.

sorry for the delay have been super busy Here are the final 3 interviews from the winners, hopefully you enjoyed them :)

BBL06 winner Kyle Robson

1. What is your team name and where can people follow you if you have twitter?
Team name is still up in the air. The year I won I was yearoftheunderdog but it didn’t really seem appropriate to use again the following year. Last year I was Ish-Sodhistream. If you have any puntastic suggestions hit me up on twitter @poster101

2. What was the keys to your success and any advice to new players?
If you want to be competitive you have to have a plan to navigate the Double Game Weeks (DGWS) and bye periods. A team with guns and rookies from all the teams might look pretty but it won’t get you the chocolates. I’m looking at starting about 9 Heat/Scorchers players, a couple of Strikers and Hurricanes, and 1 or 2 of the best rookies from the other squads.

3. Who is the must have player and why?
I’m a big fan of David Willey, very reliable and has the DGW up first. Scorchers have lost some batting depth since last year and there is a strong chance he could open as well as roll the arm over for a couple.

4. Will you have more bowlers or batsmen in your side considering the all-rounder changes?
Not something I am as concerned about. Will likely have a couple specialist in each position but there is a plethora of decent dual players so I don’t think it will be too much of an issue. Batsmen can go the largest with the scoring changes, but can also just as likely get a donut if they miss out on runs. As a result I don’t think we will see too much difference in the averages of the top batsman and bowlers by the end of the year.

5. Two part question, will you have D’Arcy Short in your starting team and is James Pattinson a must have at 62k with a double game in week one?
It would take a big set of kahuna’s to fade D’arcy Short especially with his DGW so early in the piece. Happy to go with the masses on that one. There is an argument for not starting with him, but he will be a must by round 3 and his price won’t change too much by that point, so I’m happy for him to be one of my 2 on field non dgw players from round 1. I’m also all in on James Pattinson, recent form with both bat and ball, albeit in limited overs with the ball, suggests he is an absolute steal for that price. Injury is always a concern but should he stay healthy id say he will be one of the Heat players you will be happy to bench over their bye rounds in 2 & 3 and hold until the next Heat DGW if not longer.

6. Who is someone you think will be a smoky this year?
It’s all about opportunity in BBL. So if guys like Jack Edwards, Matt Short and Daniel Sams get a chance with Bat and Ball then they will make a lot of money very quickly. There are also a number of veterans in decent form who probably won’t be too popular to start. Tom Cooper is one of these guys. He has been killing it with the Bat for South Australia in recent times, and in the latest BBL seasons he has been trusted with a few overs in the power play.

7. Making a big call, if you don’t start with…… You won’t win this year?
Chris Lynn. Boring but I just can’t see him not scoring runs at the Gabba first up.

8. Heat & Scorchers have a double game week one How many are you looking at starting with?
Looking at 9 + and refining a short list from Heazlett, Lynn, Tye, Willey, McCullum, Pattinson, Coulter-Nile, Agar, Bryant, Doggett and Green depending on final teams.

9. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us… which player is on the never again list for BBL08?
Tough call Hilton Cartwright is right up there after junking it up on my bench for most of last season, however I’m going to say Gurinda Sandhu. Good to see him again getting hyped up in the preseason after his numbers for Tasmania recently. But once a trap always a trap.

10. Which two big bash sides face off in the Grand final?
Tough one. Stars on paper but we say that every year. Despite being a Sixers fan, I’d like to see a Heat and Renegades final. We all love to see runs in the BBL, and both teams boast a destructive top order.

BBL07 Winner (Last seasons) Ryan Waters

1. What is your team name and where can people follow you if you have twitter?
Team name is Travis's Head, Twitter is ryan_waters1

2. What was the keys to your success and any advice to new players?
Pretty simple advice, but the key to this game is maximising DGW's without sacrificing the absolute top dogs.

3. Who is the must have player and why?
Nathan Coulter-Nile. Early double game week, no bye for a while, and will be one of the top players in the competition as long as manages to stay fit.

4. Will you have more bowlers or batsmen in your side considering the all-rounder changes?
Leaning towards bowlers.

5. 2 part question will you have D’Arcy Short in your starting team and is James Pattinson a must have at 62k with a double in Game week one?
At this stage, I have Short in. In all likelihood, starting without him may be too big of a risk considering his ability to post enormous numbers. I suspect Pattinson will be similar in that his price tag will mean every team starts him, and becomes a must have purely to avoid falling behind the pack early.

6. Who is someone you think will be a smoky this year?
Max Bryant if he can get a spot in the Heat's top 3.

7. Making a big call, if you don’t start with…… You won’t win this year?
Usman Qadir.

8. Heat & Scorchers have a double game week one How many are you looking at starting with?
Will head in with 8 or 9.

9. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us… which player is on the never again list for BBL08?
Jimmy Peirson. End up starting him every year, and Heat have a DGW in Week 1 again this year, but don't think I can go near him again.

10. Which two big bash sides face off in the Grand final?
Strikers to beat Scorchers.

and final one, BBL06 and only Supercoach winner Mark Davey

1. What is your team name and where can people follow you if you have twitter?
My team is the Richmond tigers. On Twitter @markdbdavey

2. What was the keys to your success and any advice to new players?

2 key to success was partly planning ahead. Not just thinking about next round but next 2 or 3 rounds. Also doing lots of reading from twitter etc. also I had a lot of luck. In every round but one almost everything went right for me.

3. Who is the must have player and why?

My must have players are guns that have 2 games in a round.

4. Will you have more bowlers or batsmen in your side considering the all-rounder changes?

Will probably depend on which teams have double game round whether I have more batsmen or bowlers. Will try to load up on best scorers in double game rounds.

5. 2 part question will you have D’Arcy Short in your starting team and is James Pattinson a must have at 62k with a double in Game week one?

Have not decided on Darcy Short yet for round 1.Has a good draw in round 1 but not a double game round for him. Will come down to balance. James Pattinson will be one of my first picked if fit and firing. There are no guarantees there though.

6. Who is someone you think will be a smoky this year?
J.Edwards from Sydney could be a smoky. Will keep an eye on practice matches and will know more then.

7. Making a big call, if you don’t start with…… You won’t win this year?
You won’t win without double game players each round.

8. Heat & Scorchers have a double game week one How many are you looking at starting with?
Will probably start with 3 or 4 from heat and scorchers each in round 1.

9. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us… which player is on the never again list for BBL08?
I would probably steer clear of Peter Neville.

10. Which two big bash sides face off in the Grand final?
Maybe Perth and Renegades for the final.

It is all just a tactic to get him into form for the Big Bash , geez he can hit a ball , no idea how big the ground was but sounds like he wasn't worrying about 4's at all.

Apparently they have installed a "batting cage" inside the Gabba for the fans to watch Lynn , McCullum , Cutting warm-up , hope it is made of reinforced steel.

Back after long a hiatus and ready for the BBL SC season! If anyone has any free spots left in their leagues I'd be happy to join. Unfortunately can't rmb what my rank for BBL fantasy though last season.

First draft team for BBL08:

Short, Lynn, Willey, NCN, Heazlett (Henriques, Sangha)
Wade, (Phillipe)
Tye, Rashid, Dorf, Mujeeb, Patto (Pope, Edwards)

47k remaining.

RD1: I've got 8 scorchers/heat to kick it off. Short could turn into an extra scorcher in Agar/Turner/MMarsh if I need the cash. Bam Bam could also come in too but could be overkill for heat players.

RD2: Just the one striker in Rashid. Will look to trade in Carey and 2 other strikers.

RD: Have 2 canes and 4 Sixers. Will look to trade in 2 more canes and 1 sixer.

So rd 1 and rd 3 will have 8&9 DGR players. Will probably struggle a bit after rd 3 but will keep playing around with my team to balance it for other rounds.

Like the majority of the selections, but don't think Short is worth the outlay and should be able to picked up a bit cheaper in RD2/RD3. Therefore an option could be Out: Short, Heazlett, Wade, In: M Nabi, B McCullum, J Buttler with the intention of turning Lynn and McCullum into Short/Dunk in Rd2/RD3.
