Big congrats to Thanh on the win tonight, who is now officially our competition winner! Well played mate, even with an absolute cooler tonight (see hand posted below for those who missed it) you still managed to get max points.

I'll add your $80 and $600 to your balance and send you through a msg shortly. James, with the $50 from tonight, you're now owed $80. Please send through your bank deets and i'll fix you up right away. Dan, you're now owed $20 after missing tonight, i'll fix you up after the December game if that's alright!

This was a massive hand which funnily enough happened quite early in the piece as it turns out. I think we played 3 handed for some time and Thanh and James went h2h for ages. James came back from the dead with 55 over 99 i think and got it back to pretty much even pegging.

Really crafty play from both players here. Big flop and turn with no action and river goes huge.

I was thinking for the December game, we could finish the year off with a bang and play a deep stack tourney. Maybe 10k chips or more?

It would mean the game would go for much longer though, not sure if that would suit everyone.
i like the idea.
Could possibly start it earlier if it worked for everyone?
Yep sounds good to me on both fronts.
Going back to this, did we want to start the deep stack December game maybe half an hour to an hour earlier? If that doesn't suit everyone, we'll just go with the usual time.

Also, there'll be an extra $60 in the final pot courtesy of Maso, assuming all 9 show, that would be a $240 pot which with nice round numbers comes to $120/$70/$50 prizes.

Thanks Mike...was definitely a lot of ebbs and flows and finally cracked James with my AA to finish!

Glad I extended my lead to 13.5pts over yours truly, so I can enjoy next month tourney...would be akin to riding the last stage of the Tour De France.

I'll reply to your message when I'm on my computer as I'm no good messaging through my phone.

The night of poker has just begun for me so I better get back to the action!

I'm good on both...my preference would be to start at 7pm if we're going the deep stack.

Also, if we are going big stack, can we schedule a break every 2nd hour?

Oh and is everyone keen to go again next year? I think a minimum of 8 players would be enough, and I would insist payment be made in one lump sum, with winnings paid on a monthly basis. This would be the most efficient way and takes alot of admin work away for me as well. Happy to be flexible with when payment is due for existing members (within reason :p)

EDIT: we could look at maybe a top 10 or 11 results scoring system rather than a total as those who missed out on a month or two have been quite disadvantaged.

EDIT 2: or we could do an organised cash tournament each month without the points system and end of year prize if that was preferred

Sorry I missed it guys, I landed from the US Saturday morning and it was front of mind when grabbing brunch at Mikey's cafe, but I subsequently lost it spending the next day and a half moving place.

You guys are in for a real treat in the deepstack tourney.

(A victory to me).

Count me in for next year and top 10 results sounds like a winner.

Wow that's annoying. Typed a whole message on my phone which never posted and i has disappeared altogether

Anywayyyy, played round 2 with that new crowd i mentioned last time. We eventually get to 14 players in total with lots of new faces. I've played with 3 from my home game and 3 others from the first time around so not too much familiarity with the rest.

We end up playing 2 tables of cash games, 25c/50c blinds with a lot of people buying (and rebuying) for $10 lol. I feel sorry for the guys who were doing the cash/chip stuff etc, which i tapped out of after about 5 rebuys as i kept miscounting LOL. By the end of the night there was $550 in play i was told so nearly $40 a head which is not too much in 5 hours of poker.

I was in great form early and worked my initial $20 up to about $120 and was the big stack for the majority of the time. Ran into a couple of bad spots late and ended up cashing out for $80 so am exactly square after 2 sittings with these guys lol

Here's a few hands of note.

Early in piece vs what appeared to be decent player who was off to a bad start.
My AA vs her KK, JJx flop and i clear her out on the river.

About 3 hours into the night, against a novice type player who was down probably $50-$60 but was staging abit of a comeback.
My T8 vs his K8, 348 flop, river K.
Flop: checked to me, i put in a pot size bet, he calls
Turn: check, check
River: he then leads out with $25 into about a $15 pot. I tank, conclude he's stealing because he's taken a few pots without showdown recently and call lol. D'oh

About an hour left with half the crowd gone and only the degens left playing :D Villain is a decent player, calculates odds on the spot etc (he tells us when the actions on him lol) and i'm told he also used to work for pokerstars in some kind of analytical role.
My 35 vs his 56, flop 345, river 2
We get them all in on the flop, he had maybe $20 iirc

About half an hour left with same pokerstars guy.
I can't quite remember the specifics of the hand but it was a bit of a first for me at the poker table. We get to the river and the pots maybe $25. I put a $15 bet which has been a standard type play most of the night. He then takes ages to act and i realise he's looking at me (and has presumably been looking at me for the last minute). I'm in my usual post-bet pose, arms crossed leaning on table, looking down at my chips and he announces 'i should fold this but he's telling me to call". I kinda look up and smile and say what am i doing? He says you're just telling me to call, your heavy breathing, your posture, everything. You're telling me to call. I then say something like, man i don't know what i'm doing and now i don't know what i should be doing, should i just slump in my chair and kinda laugh. He eventually calls with middle pair while i flip 2 pair...lol

The very last hand of the night, with everyone pretty much just blind raising/calling pre flop and ****ing away the last of their 'uneven' dollars before cashing out. I'm holding 66 and spike my set on the flop, turn comes quads and i can't get any action from anyone on the river. What a spew. Would've been an epic way to end the night!

All in all, great mix of players. A few TAGs, LAGs, lots of LP's and a few full blown gamblers. I'm not sure where i fit on that list...a little bit of everything i suppose :D

No worries mate. Really enjoying my poker atm, wish i could play more often!
If you're keen, let me know the next time you're in Vic and I'll get a game at my place organised for you to attend. The same invite is for anybody else who is happy to make their way to Geelong. :)

Alright, we're good to go with the early start of 7pm!

Also a quick reminder should there be a tie for any of the minor prizes.

IDIG said:
In the event of a tie at the end of the year, the prize money is split, so if IDIG comes 1st, Rowsus, THCLT come equal 2nd, and Ben's Beasts comes 3rd, Rowsus and THCLT share the second and third prize money and Ben's Beasts misses out altogether.
