End of a long season, just got the energy to enter a team:
Gree-Tour of Guangxi

Felix Grossschartner
Arnaud de Lie
Olav Kooij
Jonathan Milan

Thank you for running this comp @Ironhawk it's been a lot of fun (and a bit of angst). Will be interested to see how you structure it next year.

Welsford didn't start due to illness. Doesn't make much difference really in the final event, but I thought he was a reasonable chance of a stage win or two. Great losing a rider before the event even starts.

Good to see Viviani with the first stage win, been quite a while since he won one.

The final stage of the Tour of Guangxi is currently underway. Based on results of the first 5 stages, it's looking like nobody will be increasing their scores overall, and the results on the previous page will remain as the final standings for 2023, but I'll confirm everything this upcoming weekend, along with plans for 2024.

Thanks for participating this year, and hopefully next year will be even better after seeing what worked well and what didn't this year.

Changes for 2024:

  • As previously mentioned, the calendar of events will be drastically reduced from 37 to 17. This will limit it to the main events only (3 Grand Tours, 2 World Championships, 5 Monuments, 7 Major Tours). There were way too many events this season and I think most of us got a bit sick of entering for events which were highly unlikely to change the overall standings. I do still want to keep it so that if you miss one or two events you will still be able to compete overall, but rather than having your score be based on your best 12 results, it will be reduced to your top 10 event scores counting due to the lesser number of events.
  • Rider selection will also change. For the Monuments and Major Tours, I will list a group of riders who will be the main contenders (generally up to 5 or 6 riders, depending on the start list), and you will be restricted to picking ONE rider out of this group (or zero if you really want), your other selections can be anyone outside of this key contender group. Grand Tours and World Championships will not have this restriction. I hope this will make selections a lot more interesting - selections this year were often very similar.
  • Point structure might be tweaked slightly to give a better balance between event types. I'll review the results of the various events from this season when I get some time to do so, I don't expect massive changes looking at the top 12 results from everyone this season, which are reasonably well balanced, but there may be some minor amendments, especially with the proposed rider selection changes. This will be confirmed prior to the season kicking off.
  • There will be bonuses for doing well in events. More details on this will be provided at the start of the season.
The first events for 2024 will be held in the first week of March (Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico), I'll provide more details of the 2024 season in late February.

Everybody will start from scratch in 2024, there will not be any rollover of points from 2023 due to the changes above. It's a good chance for new people to sign up too - a much more manageable list of events and everyone will be on a level playing field.

See you in 2024!

Thanks again.

Don't forget to send me a reminder.

I like the restrictions idea.
I look forward to 2024

I am slowly putting together the competition for next year and one feature that I will be implementing requires all entrants to represent a nation. I can't reveal too much right now, as it is not completely finalised, but I think you will like what I have planned.

To assist with my preparations for next season, if you are planning to participate in 2024, could you please advise which nation you would like to represent? Ideally this will be the country you are from (it does not matter at all if multiple people, or even if everybody ends up representing the same country), but it is up to you if you want to choose a different nation. I will not allow you to change this selection once the season commences - more details on why I need this will be available when I post the new topic, likely in late December.

@Dravid @chels @Bonaparte @bunlit @Aston @Woosie @tso

More than welcome for anybody I don't have tagged above who is considering participating in 2024 to pick a nation too. I have tagged everyone who participated this year, but if you don't want to participate in 2024, that's fine too, and I thank you for your support this year.

Thanks!

(Australia for me).

I am a New Zealand passport holder who is rapt with some of the cycling talent coming through. Normally happy to fly the flag. However, for some perverse reason I would like to represent Andorra.
