Patrick Dangerfield

- All time great. Brownlow Medal winner, and 8 time All Australian (equal most of any player).

- SC star. 8 seasons averaging 110+, including 2 of 130+.

- Still has the scoring power. Averaging 89, including an injury game, after opening the season with 134. Last season went on a run with the following scores:

103
119
118
144
124

- Strong run home? Geelong are in a logjam of 9 teams currently on 7 or 8 wins … they need to keep pushing to secure a finals spot. Danger also comes up against some of his favourite opponents in the matches to come:

Hawthorn - career average 117
Bulldogs - 110
Adelaide - 117
Fremantle - 117
Confirming that Danger is free to take on Essendon this week, after being cleared at the tribunal.

Very rare occurance = saved for AFLPA President.

Good placement of your troops Darkie!
I must admit, my initial reaction to Danger being reported was annoyance that he might miss this week.

My second reaction was that it was Danger, so it was probably always going to be just a matter of time before he was cleared to play!

- 10 consecutive seasons of scoring 88-110

- Averaged 90 last year, D2 level

- Hasn’t played a round 1 game since 2020, when he averaged 104 - had a full preseason this year

- Averaging 83, including season high of 119 from 69% TOG last match

- Very cheap salary, at 218k per annum. Barely above rookie price.

- Low price locked in for 3 years. With 2024 salary covered, get c. 2.5 years worth of points for less than 1 year of market salary (>460k pa).

- Very fieldable defender, averaging 84 (c. D4 level).

- Hot form - 4 tons in last 10 matches, including career best 138. Coming off a ton, and hasn’t gone below 80 in six weeks.

Oscar Allen (FWD)

- Won the Larke Medal for best player in his draft year. Fellow winners include Petracca, Walsh and Ashcroft

- Should retain forward status throughout his career - a big benefit in keeper leagues

- Averaged 79 as a 21 year old in just his 3rd season - enough to be a top 30 forward against this year’s cohort

- Now West Coast captain and hitting his prime at age 25 - will be targeted in the forward line

- West Coast will only improve, improving delivery into forward 50

- Had 9 marks and 6 scoring shots on return last round

- Secured on very affordable long term contract, 5 years at c. 300k pa

Got a warm body to put at R2? The Jets want to know. Hit me up and let’s see if we can work something out.

Alternatively might need to explore putting a hit out on Tom De Koning

There are murmurs that The Darkness’ list management team may be open to making some moves ahead of the upcoming AFL draft period …

With a strong and deep backline, The Darkness is open to trading a defender or two.

Open to options, but greatest interest would be in a forward, or a 2026 draft pick/pick upgrade.

- Lethal left foot kick. "Arie's got an elite weapon; he's just about the best kick I've ever seen, in terms of penetration and variety of kick”. Chosen to participate in Fox Footy’s Longest Kick before he had even been drafted.

- Draft slider. Slid from a first round prospect following a long suspension in his draft year - which may have been a blessing in disguise (link below).

- Big accumulator. Averaging 21 kicks (!), 5 handballs and 6 marks in the VFL. Models his game on James Sicily and Tom Stewart. Had 29 kicks and 13 marks on VFL debut.

- Increased opportunity. Josh Battle’s move to the Hawks, and Riley Bonner’s delisting, open up roles in the Saints’ defence (23 and 19 games played in 2024).

Premium level defender. #33 for total points in 2024. Would be as high as D2-3 for several sides - especially once DPPs are removed heading into 2025.

Very reliable. Only missed 1 game in 2 years, and went 80+ in 11 of 13 games from round 10 onwards. Also hit a career high score of 138 this season.

Rookie priced. On just 218k per annum - or more than 50% off his market salary. Very low wage is locked in for 2 years.

- Runs on the board. Already has 6 seasons of 84+ averages behind him.

- High ceiling. Averaged 100 in 2022, aged just 23. 2022-24 period has featured scores of 141, 124, 133, 123, 152, 134 and 127.

- Strong talent. Picked just outside the 1st round in the 2016 draft, despite a broken leg in his draft year limiting his opportunity to showcase his ability. Selected in the 22 under 22 team in just his second season.

- Entering his prime. Just turned 26, meaning an acquirer could own him through his peak years. Shannon Hurn departed last off season, with Tom Barrass also expected to be out of the picture following a move to the Hawks. Friendly roles could be opening up under a new coach.

Plenty of interesting options out there. YRA are looking to rejig the list, after again failing in finals!

See a few are fishing around for defenders or forwards, so will see if anyone wants to offer up a jigsaw piece for the below:

Mitch Duncan:
Amazing Supercoach record. Last 11 years - 5 over 100, 4 in 90s and two in high 80s. Anyone looking for a floor 80's defender with potential upside, welcome to canvass options.

Changkouth Jiath:
Horrendous run with injury, just not getting on the park enough for YRA. Averaged mid 80s in his third season and hasn't been able to stay on park consistently since. Priced at 385k, played 10 games in back half of 2024, someone may be prepared to take the upside potential of CJ?

Toby Greene
Anyone keen to ride the Greene train, in a year where forwards could be thin... interesting prospect with 90-100 potential.

Alex Davies
Shown an ability to score again, finally breaking in a bit more often back half of year. 3 non sub games this year 98,71,97. Then copped a big suspension as modern footballers are no longer taught to protect themselves as they bend over to pick up a ball! Looks to be back in Dimma's rotation, returning to starting 22 last round and on 50 at HT, only to be subbed out.

$350k forward who can score in 90's regularly if in 22.

Jye Amiss
Played 41 of past 44 games. At least a warm body for under $300k. This one will be given away if anyone wants..(might regret that when I have 5 fit forwards at some point in 2025)

- Massive accumulator. VFL Dream Team scores (2023 and 2024) as follows:

171 (43 disposals, 12 marks)
133 (37 disposals, 9 marks)
102 (26 disposals)
163 (43 disposals, 14 marks)
108 (26 disposals)
123 (30 disposals)
116 (29 disposals)
161 (39 disposals, 10 marks)
134 (36 disposals)

- Penetrating left foot kick. “… so good taking kickouts that you don't want the ball in anyone else's hands”.

https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_...josh-fahey-cannon-20-impresses-vfl-opposition

- Drafted as a rebounding defender, but given midfield time in 2023 to facilitate promotion to the AFL side.

https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/8181999/giant-move-to-help-canberran-get-afl-debut-soon/

- Super cheap long term contract, $180k for 4 years, plus matching rights.

- Seas parting for opportunity at GWS in defence and the midfield:

Isaac Cumming - gone
Harry Perryman - gone
Nick Haynes - gone
Adam Kennedy - gone
Cooper Hamilton - gone
James Peatling - gone
