The semi-final probably gets decided now as Afridi and Riaz both on bowling at similar time. Probably need them to get about 6 wickets between them from Ireland innings as can not rely on most of score getting made up when they bat.
If either gets a 5 wicket haul this goes down to the wire and Goldminers face a nervous wait to see if they hold on.
Riaz has one wicket already but poor economy rate.

Actually the winner of this Ireland v Pakistan game also makes World Cup quarter finals and loser is out so big stakes are up for grabs. Australia will play the winner.

Afridi and Wahab Riaz were not required to bat so only points gained for Manta-Rays from their last two players involved was from catches , a run out , 3 wickets too Riaz and a 10 more points to Afridi for a decent economy rate when he bowled but he got no wickets.
Afridi 30 points for two catches and his bowling. Riaz 80 points for 3 wickets, a catch and a run out.
Leave them 80 points short of making the final. Another great game between Goldminers and Manta-Rays. Tough loss for Manta-Rays. Goldminers designated hitter choice of Dilshan sealed the win compared to what Kohli could do for Manta-Rays.
Manta-Rays end up 3rd in this tournament and Burglars 4th after being humbled in their semi-final loss to Pioneers.

Pioneers and Goldminers will meet up in the final.
Will post official scores for both semi-finals a little later but for final we now know England and Zimbabwe players are no longer playing.
The final starts Wednesday afternoon so will work out best way to do the auctions for the final tonight.
As Goldminers only had 16 in their squad due to stuff up at previous auction they will have one more player they can de-list.
Pioneers can have up to two.

Bad luck Vin and MovingUpward only ending your run now.
Been great fun playing with you in this one off game and practice tournament before it.

The Final will be Melbourne Pioneers versus Ballarat Goldminers
The match begins Wednesday at 2-30 pm when the South Africa and Sri Lanka quarter final of real world cup is on.

We have until then to sort out the final auction process timing.
With big stars like Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner, Malinga, Michael Clarke, Sarfraz Ahmed and all the stars from Manta-Rays and Burglars free agents picking the best out of them won't be easy choice.

Just looking at your current list right now. You actually only have one type of allrounder as possible to play in your squad at present in Grant Elliott as batting allrounder. Should he not be picked for New Zealand you will have no type of allrounder in your eleven and therefore be one short of a valid eleven, should you get yourselves in that situation. So for team selection purposes it would be a good idea to have one likely allrounder type you ensure you get this auction. You do not need another allrounder for squad balance but for team selection purposes you are running close to mark of being one short should you risk only having Elliott be an active option when teams are selected. If New Zealand do not pick him the only emergency that could be allowed to come in and still have valid team would need to be some type of allrounder. Probably means you need to aim for a bowler and allrounder of some type in this auction with the two you can pick up. Maxwell, Faulkner, Watson, Mathews, Corey Anderson and even our own ex-Bushranger Mahmudullah are some of the options that now free agents as various types of allrounders.

In anycase you guys left to be play final have many many options to choose from to still get valid squads and put yourself in good position for team selection. Goldminers done well to have themselves in situation where they did not have England players restricting their options and Shakib Al Hasan has been a real boom considering Bangladesh were never even guaranteed of making this later part of tournament.

Fine with me guys.
Cool.
We are good to go then at 7-30 pm.
I will be back then with the drum roll for the ten minute session. :)
Good luck to all of you.
So many superstars up for grabs and can only get two each and will be interesting to see which ones you both want at same time.
Please make it a clean fight over Wayne Parnell guys.

7-30 pm Auction Preview

Melbourne Pioneers
$230K funds free
Require at least one bowler more in two players they can win bids on.
With quite a few of the other allrounders in their squad not playing they will rely a lot on Grant Elliott of New Zealand so the second player that may want is probably one of the best allrounders.
Limited for present options due to previously backing on too many English types such as Bopara and previously Ali. Not as many funds freed up as Goldminers when they previously took the gamble of letting Clarke contract become void so will have to be inventive in their bids to get the players they want most.

Goldminers
$1.73M funds free
Still require one each of a bowler and batter however their options are far more open due to any extra major allrounders claimed such as Maxwell and Faulkner are possible options too. If they got both of them this would allow them to count two of them towards the secondary attribute of any of the two allrounders covered with Shakib Al Hasan and Andre Russell as allrounders already contracted. Clever squad management of contracts at early stages of auctions phases has always had their squad be a flexible squad to call upon. Shakib Al Hasan has been an inspired choice in many ways. I expect them to gain at least one of these star allrounders and make use of this flexible option for squad. Due to giving up Clarke in previous phase they still have lots of funds that can be used on their preferred star. However going back to Clarke would also be a very viable option.

I expect that the targets of players for both franchise owners will come down to the following stars:

Allrounders
James Faulkner AUS (ALR/BWL)
This guy gets the best out of himself.
Just amazing ability to sense the moment in one day games to snare a wicket with his tricky bowling or late order big hitting with the bat. Floats in batting order at captain's wish so dangerous player to have against you in real cricket or fantasy cricket. This guy just loves a contest. Thrives on it. Over his side strain so look out other sides he is not called the Finisher for nothing

Glenn Maxwell AUS (ALR/BAT)
This guy is not called the Big Show for nothing. Simpy extra-ordinary ability to hit shots for boundaries on cricket field that for most others cannot dream of. Has an eye to hit ball like few others and shot making ability is quickly decided in his mind. Also has the knack of taking a wicket with his off spinners and many great feats in the field as a fielder. He does not like the nickname given to him but watching him bat when he is on song is the Big Show. Very entertaining and just a freak to watch. He could be an alien it is so freakish. He will at times as a batter be a big flop but that is part of this Big Show too.
Make the most of watching him bat this World Cup because he and AB de Villers have got some shot making that has to be seen to be believed. Amazing hand eye co-ordination when they bat.
He looks born for this big stage so nothing has surprised me this World Cup with what he has done.
Bushrangers were more than happy to enjoy the ride whilst we had him.

Batting Allrounder
Angelo Mathews SRL (BAT/ALR)
Sri Lankan captain and very handy late order batter and bowler.
Usually does well in these type of finals.

Star Batsmen
Steve Smith AUS (BAT)
Seems to be now entrenched as number 3 in order for rest of this World Cup.
Innings against Sri Lanka was pretty impressive so nothing to suggest he could not have another big one.

Michael Clarke AUS (BAT)
Had a summer full of emotional and physical pain not many could imagine and got himself right to play in this World Cup despite reasons to doubt he would make it. Recent innings shown he is very capable of something big in the moment you could need him. I doubt there is a more motivated player in this whole tournament. More likely to bat 4 in order so for fantasy points he may be restricted in getting compared to some other options here.

Virat Kohli IND (BAT)
Showed his class all summer as a star batsmen in all forms of the game.
Has Bangladesh bowlers to face so no reason to not expect him to cope well there.

David Warner AUS (BAT)
Yet to have a big innings this tournament against a main nation but his form the other night when Australia needed to get 39 runs before it rained again was scary for Pakistan.

Brendon McCullum NZL (BAT/WKP)
Just goes bang from ball one as opener for New Zealand and of recent times it has come off more than not.

Kumar Sangakarra SRL (WKP/BAT)
Been in sensational batting form with most centuries this World Cup.

Pace Bowlers
Dale Steyn RSA (BWL)
So far yet to have that one big game but he is due.

Mitchell Starc AUS (BWL)
Just destroying batting line-ups at the moment.
Taking a wicket nearly every 13 balls this tournament.
Worth every amount spent on him this tournament and not sure Pakistan bats will fair much better against him.

Trent Boult NZL (BWL)
Had some great moments. Another left arm strike bowler that loves New Zealand conditions.
Had a cracker of a spell against Australia.

Lasith Malinga SRL (BWL)
Really showed his class of recent matches.
Starting to get match fit and will be the goto man of Sri Lanka when they bowl against South Africa.

Tim Southee NZL (BWL)
Genuine outswing bowler that took 7 wickets against England and will have West Indies up next to bowl to.

They are all very capable of a big performance in this next game and it is up to each franchise to back the ones they think will get the job done for them in their fantasy final.

Congrats Pioneers!!! Avenged the defeat from earlier round with style as the Burglars wilted under the big game pressure of finals. Good luck to both teams for the final.

Was a lot of fun with the auction and having a vested interest in the WC games kept it interesting. Thanks Oz for all the effort and everyone involved!!!

Was half expecting you still may be keen on Rohit Sharma. :)
Has not really fired this world cup but as you know he did have a big one in practice tournament.
Interesting bid. See the Pioneers response.
