Keen to hear what you had in mind for me! Might be better than what I’ve come up with myself 😂
You confused the hell out of me... as did Jordan, as your salary remaining/spots was insane (for opposite reasons!).

Then you continue to confuse the hello out of me as you keep paying everyone elses salary, so coaches now have more.

I had you with 8 list spots and $5m, required to use three draft picks... meant 5 targets tonight with potentially $800-$1m to go at each one.

You were going to go for all the young superstars on front ended contracts and I knew I didn't want to be in a bidding war with you.

Rucks and Mids maybe slightly more, however the young talent was going to supercede positional.. so yours were chucked in as placeholders! haha

Hehe - I’d like to say the plan was to keep everyone guessing, but that would be giving myself too much credit!

SIX PLAYER MEGA DEAL: Hawkins, Darcy Moore, McGovern, Blakely, Hurley and youngster Sam Flanders all find new homes

As first reported by Tom Browne, a historic three way mega deal has been agreed and signed off on between Creme De La Creme, the Darkness and the Rangers moments before the third edition of the SCSUL Free Agency Draft.

The mega deal will see Hawkins traded to the Rangers from Creme De La Creme, along with picks 5 and 33 in the 2022 draft (as well as a future 2023 pick). Some creative contract structuring has seen the reigning premiers land a $900k key forward to bolster the Rangers forward line, that has been decimated by pre-season injuries and the Toby Greene suspension. As part of this move, the Rangers land coach favourite Michael Hurley from the Darkness, as he continues his recovery from a nearly career ending injury.

Creme De La Creme receive Darcy Moore as well as picks 10 and 13 in this year's draft from the Rangers, whilst also trading youngster Sam Flanders and J McGovern to the Darkness for a suite of 2022 Round 3 and 4 picks. The Darkness also receive Connor Blakely and a 2023 pick upgrade to obtain another pick in the second round of the 2023 draft.

Yorkshire Republican Army - Club Announcement

It has been a tough week in Yorkshire with the sudden departure of our spirital leader - Marcelo "El Loco" Bielsa. A man who transcended sport and pushed an agenda of integrity, honesty and side before self at all costs. Ultimately costing himself at position in Yorkshire.

Our new recruits this week will all be given a lesson in his mantra. Daniel Rich, Jack Ziebell, Charlie Dixon, Jack Henry and Zac Jones are all very aware of this attutude within our four walls and are welcomed back to the fold. They are joined by an exciting crew of fresh legs and new ideas led by the evergreen David Mundy, Shannon Hurn and Rory Sloane and slighlty younger Thomas Liberatore and Daniel McStay.

A few of the senior heads came in and quickly reviewed the side before self manta and asked what we meant by honesty? When it outlined, Shannon and David promptly pointed to Nic Newman and asked how on earth he was still here. Valid points, as such, we are looking one last time and moving on some dead wood the current administration inherited.

Nic Newman: Last year of a $660,000 contract. In his first year at Carlton he averaged 97 from 20 games before injury in 2020, in 2021 he returned midseason playing the last 14 games at 88 (including two 125 + in last three). We acknowledge the man can seriously score fantasy points and somehow is one of first picked in the Carlton side. However, our leaders have spoken and his selfish attitude and lack of team mentality means we are willing to work with other coaches to see him play elsehwere.

Hayden Crozier: $412,030, bloke is struggling for game time. He also hit this coach for 100 as a teenager playing park cricket. Coach hasn't got over it, nightmares are not good at the selection table so needs to be moved on.

Liam Shiels: $477,663 Very honest, hard working midfielder who has averaged between 77-96 in 7 of the last 8 years. Plays nearly every week and unfortunately looks to be squeezed at with current midfield group. On offer to give the great clubman a chance to play elsewhere.

Jarded Polec: $482,525. LOL... we tried.

Any interest, please knock on the door.. 3 of the above are bargain basement price (a.k.a we will help you take them!)

Free Agency News: Rangers welcome back Lloyd, Heppell and O.Allen on long term deals to cap off a productive o***eason

The Rangers showed no intent of complacency during the free agency period, welcoming back and rewarding key premiership players J.Lloyd and Heppell with long term deals as well as locking in restricted free agent Oscar Allen on a mammoth 7 year deal.

Bolstering the forward line was a key area of focus for the Rangers in the off-season, with J.Stringer and J.Anderson also snapped up in the free agency period to support new recruit Tom Hawkins in the forward line. Ben McEvoy and Tom Campbell also joined the Rangers on one year deals to provide some R/F flexibility for the Rangers in 2022 - Coach Sho a strong believer in ruck depth after 2021 saw 5 different rucks taking the field for the Rangers.

Matthew Kennedy was also signed for a basement price, with Carlton teammate Mitch McGovern joining him on a trade deadline day deal, and both pleased Coach Sho with their strong preseason form.

Shodoro now turns his mind to the preseason draft.

In The Mix: Who’s Pushing for Selection in Finals Week 1?

Who's knocking on the selectors' door? Who's coming back from injury? And who's under the pump?

WHO IS a chance to play in Finals Week 1?

In this week's In the Mix, brought to you by Bay Villas Resort Port Douglas, we find the players who are giving their selectors plenty of food for thought.

Who's going out, who's sore, who is under the pump? Our reporters attempt to pick all the Finals Week 1 ins and outs. Check it out.

There will be one forced change at Giants HQ for the encounter against The Darkness with Rory Lobb (chest) set to return to the side after he missed last weeks win, replacing Kieren Briggs. Intrigue surrounds Lachie Whitfield who has missed the last two matches due to a hip flexor injury. After passing a fitness test at training today Whitfield has been given the green light to return this weekend, however it remains to be seen if he takes his place in the starting side. Lance Franklin would consider himself unlucky should he be dropped, while Steele Sidebottom may rue having a down game against the Knights in Round 18, with Bailey Smith an option to swing forward to accomodate Whitfield. James Rowbottom and Harry Schoenberg continue to apply pressure to the Giants starting midfield group, while Archie Perkins may challenge Luke Bruest for a spot amongst the emergencies after overcoming a calf complaint in recent weeks.

Verdict: Lobb replaces Briggs. Whitfield returns for one of Franklin/Sidebottom depending on matchups. - Josh Gabelich

The Giants will be forced into a change at the back ahead of the clash with Creme de la Creme, with Nic Newman (knee) to miss the rest of the season. A return to defence for Lachie Whitfield appears likely, while youngsters Trent Rivers or Brodie Kemp are alternative options to replace the injured Newman. James Rowbottom continues to apply pressure to The Giants midfield brigade, while Lance Franklin will be hoping for a quick recall after his dominate display in the reserves. Young ruck Nick Bryan dominated again at reserves level with 28 disposals, 34 hitouts, eight clearances and a goal. While Brodie Grundy (ankle) won't return this week despite getting through the reserves game unscathed, finishing with 21 hitouts, 11 disposals and nine tackles, after he had an ankle impingement at training and was sent for scans on Tuesday.

Verdict: Rowbottom for the injured Newman, with Whitfield to head back. Franklin for Sidebottom. - Callum Twomey

Light at the end of the tunnel?
Staff writers
After claiming the wooden spoon in 2021, The Darkness FC enjoyed an improved season in 2022, finishing the home and away season in 4th place, and secured a surprise finals berth.

The club’s players are recovering from Mad Monday, where Tom Papley was reportedly best on ground. The 26 year old was characteristically up and about, mirroring his career best on-field form after playing more midfield time over the last six weeks (averaging 105 over that period).

The Darkness’ players will shortly take a well-earned break ahead of a big pre-season, although a planned trip to Bali is now said to be off the agenda. The group will be hoping to progress further next year, after being eliminated from finals in week one by a strong Goodie’s Giants outfit.

It will be a shorter turnaround for the club’s list management team, especially with a record AFL trade period looming. The team expects to be active again ahead of the 2023 season, with scope for more creative deals to be done.

Coach Darkie is said to be pleased by the club’s 2022 progress, but looking to make some targeted changes to refine the structure of the list, and continue the development of the squad.

The midfield is likely to be an area The Darkness looks to address, with the club’s engine room comfortably beaten (827-554) by the Giants in last week’s elimination final, albeit with some key players missing.

The Darkness has a deep hand of quality youth, led by Rising Star favourite Nick Daicos, with Willem Drew, James Jordon, Patrick Lipinski and Jai Newcombe all playing key roles in the midfield this year. Deven Robertson, Jack Carroll, Tom Powell, Caleb Poulter, Riley Collier-Dawkins, Tyler Brown, Jeremy Sharp and Matty Roberts all received opportunities to continue their development by gaining midfield experience this season.

Notwithstanding the club’s young midfield stocks, an injection of experience could be what’s needed to take another step forward. There is said to be scope for some young guns to be squeezed out of the squad as the club refines its setup.

In response to The Darkness’ youth-focused midfield, the coaches experimented with a range of names playing through the middle this season, with defenders Jack Sinclair, Jayden Short and Tom Atkins all spending time up the ground, in addition to Connor Budarick for periods before his ACL injury. Amongst the club’s forwards, Dylan Moore, Shai Bolton and Papley all played more midfield time this season, putting up career-best performances in the process.

Coach Darkie said “Necessity is the mother of invention sometimes. We’ve been able to run a few other guys through the middle, with good success. It has seen a number of our players go to a new level, and it helps them develop dual-position flexibility, which can be very beneficial for us as coaches.” The Darkness’ approach sees the club with the most dual position players in the league.

The Darkness’ list managers are now reportedly open to using the squad’s enviable forward and defence depth to strengthen the engine room via the trade table.

One of the most pleasing aspects of the club’s season will be the performance and development of its ruck stocks, with Darcy Cameron and Tom de Koning both taking the #1 mantle for extended periods, and acquitting themselves well. Ruck-forward Mabior Chol has provided able support, kicking a goal in every game, to sit 8th in the Coleman Medal. With veteran Jonathan Ceglar traded to Roppongian Rangers late in the season, the club will nonetheless be on the lookout to strengthen the ruck line, should the right opportunity present.

In addition to an abundance of developing talent accumulated through the club’s active regeneration strategy, The Darkness has a number of players on attractive contracts that may appeal to other clubs facing budget pressures in 2023.

The club also holds a strong pre-season draft hand - with 4 picks inside the top 17 - and is said to be prepared to invest one or more high picks for players that fit the club’s needs.

Darkie said “We’re pleased with the progress since we commenced our rebuild strategy 18 months ago. We’re seeing signs that that’s starting to bear fruit, and our players will be better for the finals experience, and another year of development for our young talent in particular. The reality, though, is that only one club wins the flag each year - and the other nine will be trying to get better. We’re focused on how we can continue to improve our side for 2023 and beyond.”

With improved on-field performance this season, continued development of the club’s young talent, and another active off-season expected, long-suffering Darkness fans may finally be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

Rumours are circulating in Dagobah that the Immortals are about to undergo an extensive internal review following a disappointing season for the Immortals.

Apparently only regular captain Rory Laird and initial marquee signing Tim English are safe. The review will cover all areas of the Club, from the Board, Administration, Coaches, support staff and the players.

Immortals management were contacted for comment, the only official response being "No comment".

Giants FC Announce List Changes

Goodie's Giants FC would like to thank James Rowe for his efforts and dedication to the club.

Rowe has been informed in the past 24 hours that his contract would not be renewed for next season as the Club finalises its list changes ahead of the 2023 SCSUL Preseason Draft and Free Agency period.

Rowe was drafted at Pick 41 in the 2021 Preseason Draft, and kicked 27 goals in his 36 games as a small forward.

“James was a popular member of our playing group, he was much-loved, hard-working and reliable."

The Giants currently hold Pick 8 in next years Preseason Draft.

Further list changes will be communicated accordingly across the preseason.

Pick swap agreed, as coaches position for looming draft

The first pick swap of the off-season has been agreed, as coaches position themselves for the Ultimate League draft, to be held in less than three weeks’ time.

Arcadia Timelords have split pick 4, in exchange for The Darkness’ pick 15 and 16.

The deal will allow the Timelords to bring in two highly rated young talents, as well as simplifying their draft strategy by consolidating three consecutive picks at 14, 15 and 16. The Darkness now holds three of the top 10 selections in the draft (4, 6 and 10).

DAGOBAH IS BUZZING!!!!

Hello all, it's Keets Freely here, chief reporter for the Coruscant Halo Net newspaper.

Dagobah is buzzing with leaked reports that Immortals coach Philzsay and key staff members are holding an all night strategy meeting tonight.

The Coruscant Halo Net newspaper is lead to believe that noone is safe, with all players under review.

Coach Philzsay, having narrowly survived a back room board push from Jabba the Hutt to have him removed from office, is under immense pressure to turn fortunes around at the Quagmire.

The meeting is expected to start around 6pm tonight, and may go long into the night. Rival SCS Ultimate teams can expect to be contacted with potential offers.

Talk is rife about who may go, but even more exciting for Immortals fans is the prospects of whom the Immortals may target ahead of the player auction.

And as always, I, Keets Freely, will be right here to give you the exclusive...

Jets and Darkness agree 4-player trade

Jordan’s Jets and The Darkness have agreed a trade that will see four players move clubs, in the leadup to Monday’s auction.

Three players will cross to the Jets, including Hugh Greenwood and Brandon Starcevich, who have provided The Darkness with loyal service since its inception. Only five foundation players remain at the club, after a period of intense regeneration over the last two years. Dual position talent Bailey Laurie will also add to the Jets’ youth stocks, with expectations he will sign a long term contract on minimum salary.

The Darkness will gain George Hewett in the deal, adding to the club’s midfield stocks as young players such as Nick Daicos, Jai Newcombe and Will Phillips continue to develop. The Darkness’ list management team is believed to be open to pursuing similar trades, packaging up multiple players or draft picks to add to their starting lineup.

YRA's first-round pick Darcy Jones out for season

YRA third-round draft pick Darcy Jones is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL.

The 19-year-old West Australian, taken with pick 30 of the most recent SCS Ultimate national draft, incurred the knee injury while playing in the VFL on Saturday. The YRA confirmed the prognosis on Tuesday morning.

"He's made a great impression on our group already in the short time he's been at the club. He's a wonderful person and he'll be a great player for our football club."

Rangers’ Rucking Nightmare Continues - the Stingers come to the rescue once again

Ruck injuries have plagued the Rangers since the very first round of SCSUL, where Nankervis was surprisingly dropped and the Rangers had to scramble at the 11th hour to secure C Sinclair as a replacement from the Stingers. History has repeated itself once again, with the Stingers coming to the rescue once again after agreeing a trade for Esava Ratagolea in unfortunate circumstances where Nankervis has injured himself.

The Rangers have had a great number of rucks fill on field spots over the years: Marshall, Nankervis, C Sinclair, P Ryder, B McEvoy, T Hickey, J Sweet, D Fort, T Campbell

Esava will be the newest name to be added to that list this round.

Questions are being asked to the Rangers’ medical department in relation to why these ruck injuries continue to plague the club.

Immortals fever is reaching epic proportions ahead of their first ever Grand Final!

While Hawkins, Lukosius and Atkins appear set to join Moore on the sidelines, fans are hyping themselves up at the possibility of a flag.

Seen here are some nerdish fans, bloke on the left in the iconic Immortals green and black colours, with their version of Dagobah's theme song "We can be Immotals!"
