For anyone considering giving world cup fantasy a go even though, like me you missed the start, Set 2 starts just after midnight on Thursday night AEST. See competition link and league code above to join. It would be a shame if we don't give it a go just because we missed the start.
For those undecided, I have had a read up on the rules.
Unlimited trades between Sets and our team is locked at the beginning of each Set so we don't need to stay on top of things all of the time. Even if we miss the start of a Set, our team just rolls over from the previous Set. Not good for those of us who like looping!
Scoring is a little different to what we are used to for BBL so I will take some screen shots and post that below.
I like the flexibility we get with our structure of selecting a team of 11 players, however, we can only pick a maximum of three players from any one team (until later in the tournament when less teams are playing) and there is a salary cap:
1-2 Wicketkeepers
3-6 Batters
1-4 All-Rounders
3-6 Bowlers
Captain score is double points but we don't get to choose a VC, so need to hope that our C plays!
The Boosters looks like an interesting strategy option and could influence how we try to structure our team for a particular Set. There are 10 Sets (9 left for us) and we get 5 Boosters and we can play all 5 but only one in any given Set.
The Boosters are:
Catchers Carnival - All points allocated to catches are doubled for that Set.
Super Captain - Captain gets triple points instead of double points
Fantastic Fours - All points allocated to hitting a four are doubled for that Set.
Special Sixes - All points allocated to hitting a six are doubled for that Set.
Wicket Wizards - All points allocated to taking a wicket are doubled for that Set.
Fixture could still need to be considered as we have double game sets. For example, Pakistan and Ireland have a double in Set 2.
I think that is all that I have taken from reading the rules so far!
