Can someone post the Zac Fisher trade bait HS article 🙏
2. ZAC FISHER $493,800 DEF/FWD
AP: BUY. Has gone from a mid-price gamble to likely top-six forward.

TM: BUY. Colby McKercher looks a long shot to return this week which means a bounty of ball in defence again for Fisher. Coming off the bye and this week’s opponent West Coast is the third-easiest for defenders to score against.

Patch: BUY. Sadly, yes, it’s fish season, so get the rod out and hook on some bait.

TO: BUY. I’m bringing back the Fish this week. Form too good to ignore and is bye-less from here.

CW: BUY. I’ve made a few regretful moves this year, but trading out Fisher for Colby McKercher tops the list. It feels ironic that the big reason for selecting him is that Kerch remains sidelined, but I’ll be trying to fit him in this week off his bye.

Dos: BUY. He is in the world famous Dossy’s Double Dozen for a reason. Fisher is the top averaging forward in his past three matches and is available under $500k.

SuperCoach AFL 2024: Best trade targets off round 12 bye leading into round 13
SuperCoach Trade HQ is in overdrive as coaches strengthen their teams for the rest of the byes. See who is making the right moves, and who is flirting with disaster.

Harley Reid, Matt Crouch OUT, best bubble boys, and ranking round 13...

The second week of the bye rounds is off to a flying start! Popular rookie gun Harley... more

Rookies, round 12 bye guns and value picks too good to pass up – SuperCoaches are using their three trades to multiple ends this week.
Which is the right way to jump?
The experts give their verdict on the 10 most traded out, and 10 most traded in, players for round 13 blow – and scroll down for the full trade guide.

MOST TRADED OUT
1. SAM CLOHESY $325,200 DEF/MID
Al Paton: TRADE. Do you need him to get 18 scores this week? If not, get out a week before his bye to squeeze maximum dollars from one of this year’s best cash cows.
Tim Michell: TRADE. I held him last week because I wanted the insurance of a 19th scorer and he ended up being my 19th player anyway and losing money. Jump off now before he loses more value and has the round 14 bye.
Patch: TRADE: Thanks for your service, Sam. Maybe we’ll see you again one day, but for now I’ll send you packing before you lose too much cash.
Tarquin Oakley: CONSIDER. A Break Even of 70 means you could get away with holding Clohesy for one more week until his bye. But if he gets you to a premium then trading is more than fair.
Chloe Williams: TRADE. An unexpected and great servant, but it’s time to go if you haven’t moved him on already. He’s beginning to lose money, and I for one need to move on some Suns before their bye.
Dos: TRADE. Nearly broke the record for largest cash rise in SuperCoach history in his first three games. Last week broke my heart with a 47.

Darcy Wilson produced his second-lowest score of the season against West Coast. Picture: Quinn Rooney/Getty Images
2. DARCY WILSON $404,000 MID/FWD
AP: CONSIDER. Will probably drop a bit in price but I think I’ll need him in round 14 – and maybe beyond.
TM: TRADE. I think. He’s likely to be borderline best 18 for most teams this round but it’s the tough round 14 bye where you – like me – might need the extra number. I’m prepared to run the gauntlet and cash him in this week before his value drops again.
Patch: CONSIDER. I think there’s merit in holding Wilson if you need the cover through the rest of the byes, but if you want to maximise cash then he has to go this week. Farewell to our best rookie of the year.
TO: TRADE. Was hoping he would last until the round 14 bye but he’ll now lose too much cash if he drops another score of 54 like he did against West Coast.
CW: CONSIDER. I need to prioritise other moves, so I may hold for one more week.
Dos: CONSIDER. Look at your round 14 bye structure. If you’ll comfortably field enough players, he can be moved on.
3. HARLEY REID $459,200 MID/FWD
AP: CONSIDER. Time to go but he’s won’t lose money this week – you could trade Clohesy instead and move Harley out next week.
TM: TRADE. He’ll miss the next three including a bye in round 14. Easy swap to Dayne Zorkgull if you were waiting until after Brisbane’s bye.
Patch: TRADE. I think he’s gotta go, but would prioritise someone who’s going to lose cash this week over Reid or Sam Darcy.
TO: TRADE. Looked a million bucks in the first half against St Kilda but then went backwards after halftime when Windhager ran with him. Two-week ban means he’s got to go.
CW: TRADE. Two weeks out and a bye, and he’s at the perfect price to land you any premo option. I do remember what happened last time we said sell, though …
Dos: TRADE. Unfortunately, two weeks out is too long to hold Young GOAT, especially with a bye in between.

4. SAM DARCY $373,900 FWD
AP: CONSIDER. Same logic as my Reid answer. Can trade any time over the next three weeks.
TM: TRADE. Gone for round 13, 14 and the round 15 bye after cleaning up Brayden Maynard. In a perfect world your team will be full premium by the time Darcy returns, so you might as well cash in now.
Patch: TRADE. Should have got four or more, honestly, so will be counting himself lucky. Trade him from your SuperCoach side whenever it works.
TO: TRADE. Like Reid, two-match ban with a bye in there as well means it’s good trading to move him on.
CW: TRADE. I was very keen on holding Sam Darcy for a fair while based purely on the eye test, but it isn’t meant to be. However, I think he’ll play out the year in fine form.
Dos: TRADE. Will enjoy having him in my SuperCoach team for years to come, but for now it’s a fond farewell.

5. JORDON SWEET $309,400 RUC
AP: TRADE. On the bye and not in Port’s best 23 anyway.

TM: TRADE. Soldo had 13 disposals, 31 hitouts and kicked a goal against the Blues. Can’t see Sweet getting back in anytime soon.

Patch: TRADE. Move him on if you need to but no harm in holding.

TO: CONSIDER. Won’t be losing money in that R3 spot and no obvious trade possibilities. At some point it looks like I’ll be moving him on for a $102k ruck and banking the $207k profit.

CW: TRADE. The experiment fizzled out as soon as it started. It’s his bye this week, though, so won’t drop cash if you have bigger fish to fry.

Dos: TRADE. The journey back to the No.1 ruck role isn’t as treacherous as Frodo’s to Mordor, but it might take just as long.

Gold Coast tackle machine Will Graham. Picture: Russell Freeman/AFL Photos via Getty Images
6. WILL GRAHAM $291,800 DEF/MID
AP: TRADE. Was a nice surprise to see him back in the team but unlikely to be in your best 18 scorers this week and has the bye the week after.

TM: TRADE. Your patience was rewarded when he returned to the Suns side in round 12 and made an extra $14k. But with a Break Even of 64 this will just about be his peak price. Won’t be the last time we talk about him as a SuperCoach option, though, as his contested game is built for scoring well.

Patch: HOLD: Give him another week, flick him at the bye.

TO: CONSIDER. Like Clohesy, a Break Even that is gettable and only one week until the bye. Do as you please.

CW: TRADE. Many teams are stacked with Suns (or is it just me) so you may need to move him now to avoid a dilemma next week.

Dos: CONSIDER. Not the game that holders were hoping for but he did have the role. If named again, he could have more success against the Saints if he can lay a few more hugs.

7. JOE RICHARDS $212,900 FWD
AP: TRADE. Could make $110k if a $102k rookie pops up this week.

TM: TRADE. He was initially listed as missing 2-3 weeks with a foot injury but that’s blown out to 5-6 weeks. I was hoping to hold him as I won’t be surprised if he’s straight back in when fit. But he’s not going to be much help come round 18 or 19.

Patch: TRADE. No reason to hang onto him, so if you need to move him on then do so.

TO: TRADE. Will be on the sidelines for a while yet.

CW: TRADE. Take the cash and run – if not this week, next.

Dos: TRADE. The mid-season draftees or The Phantom’s beloved Billy Dowling provide an opportunity to jump off Richards and make $100k in the process.

8. MATT CROUCH $574,100 MID
AP: TRADE. Great value starting pick and an $83k price rise will help swap him for a premo mid off the round 12 bye.

TM: TRADE. Gone for the year with a shoulder injury. The news could have been even worse for owners had he not played through the pain and had 29 disposals after quarter-time against Hawthorn. Lachie Neale, Josh Dunkley or Chad Warner off the bye look like great options.

Patch: TRADE. Out for the season so off he pops. Trade up to a Dunkley or Neale.

TO: TRADE. Out for the season.

CW: TRADE: It is with a heavy heart that I will have to move him on following his season-ending shoulder injury. All of his scores have been over 80, and only three below 100. Thanks for your service, Matt, you will be missed.

Dos: TRADE. Props to Crouch for going out on a high. Injured his shoulder and only had six disposals, zero marks, and zero tackles to quarter-time. Finished with 35-9-7 and 107 SuperCoach points. Unbelievable grit.

Shoulder surgery will end Matt Crouch’s season. Picture: Dylan Burns/AFL Photos via Getty Images
9. HUGO GARCIA $215,100 MID/FWD
AP: TRADE. Didn’t come back in last week and the Saints won, which won’t help his chances.

TM: TRADE. St Kilda won in the west so it’s unlikely he’s getting back in soon. He had 13 tackles against Frankston in the VFL at the weekend.

Patch: TRADE. No reason to hang onto him, so if you need to move him on then do so.

TO: CONSIDER. Check team selection on Thursday just in case. Can move him on if he’s not recalled.

CW: CONSIDER. He continues to perform solidly in the VFL, but remains unable to break into the side. I still have him due to prioritising other trades, but I would sell if you can.

Dos: CONSIDER. With a Break Even of 3 at this point in the season, obviously it’s a wait on team selections, but Paddy Dow has taken his midfield spot and Brad Crouch is still waiting in the wings.

10. RILEY GARCIA $303,700 FWD
AP: CONSIDER. Has just about maxed out in price so no issue with getting out now if a suitable trade presents itself – and you can survive without him in round 14.

TM: HOLD. Break Even of 38 and the Bulldogs play on Friday night, so you should be able to loop him if you happen to have seven forwards playing in round 13. He was pretty stiff to miss out on a holding the ball free in front of goal against Collingwood, too – just ask Al Paton. One to reassess next week.

HOLD: Only has a Break Even of 38. Hang onto him, I reckon.

TO: HOLD. A safe hold for one more week at least.

CW: HOLD. He is still tracking nicely and appears the premier Garcia pick, after all.

Dos: CONSIDER. Team dependent with bye structure. Jump off if it gets you to a keeper or banks you $100-200K, hold if you need the numbers in round 14.

MOST TRADED IN
1. WIL DAWSON $117,300 DEF/FWD

AP: BUY. North Melbourne’s revolving door of rookie defenders doesn’t fill me with confidence, but if he’s picked I’ll back him in. DPP could be very handy in the run home.

TM: BUY. But don’t expect him to be dropping scores of 79 each week. I’m mindful Griffin Logue is potentially less than a month away which will likely push Dawson out. Even then, his DEF-FWD status will be valuable for teams with Zac Fisher and Alex Sexton.

Patch: TRADE. Yes sir, bring him in. Especially if you’ve already got Fisher or Sexton.

TO: CONSIDER. One of the only rookie options this week. Trained forward on Tuesday which isn’t good for his scoring potential.

CW: BUY. Cheap, -46 Break Even, on the bubble. It’s a tick! Also, I also already brought him in last week …

Dos: CONSIDER. I think there will be better basement options available in the coming weeks, but the DEF/FWD swing could be handy – and cash generation is dire.

Zac Fisher was a popular pick in pre-season. Picture: Michael Willson/AFL Photos via Getty Images

3. JORDAN RIDLEY $530,300 DEF
AP: CONSIDER. Intercept marks, accurate long kicks and kick-ins is a recipe for great SuperCoach scoring (ask Luke Ryan, Jeremy McGovern and Co). Bye next week is awkward, though.

TM: BUY. Elite kick. Elite footballer, really. Projected to rise by almost $40k after this week and it won’t be as easy to find $570k to bring him in after his bye as it will to scrounge together $530k now. He’s had 46 effective disposals in two weeks since returning from injury and 20 intercepts.

Patch: TRADE. I’ll be waiting until after his bye, but if it’s not going to throw your structure out of whack then go for it.

TO: WAIT. My strategy will be to grab premiums off their bye, rather than one week before.

CW: BUY. Going early on Ridley last week paid dividends, and I’m looking forward to a sweet $40K cash injection considering how much money he’s lost me in the past. It finally seems to be his year – jump on!

Dos: CONSIDER. Riding the fence on this one but I would buy if your structure allows it. Great value and looking like a top-six defender albeit with a small sample size.

4. LACHIE MCNEIL $159,100 FWD
AP: CONSIDER. I talked him up in the trade guide earlier this week but further research reveals he’s been the sub in 10 of his past 15 games. Injuries at the Dogs help his cause, but if a $102k mid-season draftee debuts, I’d take them instead.

TM: PASS. Always a sub candidate and last week’s score of 80 was his highest in 44 career games (and one of only three scores above 60). I know Al Paton likes him but I can’t go there.

Patch: CONSIDER: If he’s named then maybe. I don’t love it.

TO: PASS. Could be a dead rookie after this week. His spot is not guaranteed.

CW: CONSIDER. I jumped on Freijah at a higher price, which paid off, and I feel like this one could too. If only Rhylee West and his cactus didn’t win their tribunal case …

Dos: PASS. Not for me. Kicked two goals and scored well on the weekend, but you’re paying more than basement price and his job security isn’t solidified.

5. CHAD WARNER $608,300 MID
AP: CONSIDER. A fun option if you like a POD.

TM: BUY. Three-round average of 138 and faces a weak Geelong midfield this round. Only slight reservation would be if Sydney rests its stars late in the season once a top-four spot is secure.

Patch: CONSIDER: He’s a bit expensive now, I think I prefer the Brisbane boys.

TO: BUY. Racing into Brownlow contention. Would be a really fun SuperCoach own. Kicks goals and racks it up.

CW: BUY. Has a Break Even of only 35 and an ownership of 5 per cent. Could be a cracking POD to take into the back end of the year and has a huge ceiling.

Dos: BUY. On a tear for the Swans, who look destined to go deep into September. Warner has kicked one or more goals in every game bar one and might be battling his teammate for a Brownlow Medal in the back half of the season.

6. ISAAC HEENEY $610,300 FWD/MID
AP: BUY. Will be a top-three forward, hard to compete without him.

TM: BUY. Eighty-nine points better than the next forward so far, and he’s played one fewer game than seven of the top 10 pointscorers in the forward line. Only Nick Daicos can stop him winning the Brownlow in his first year as a fully-fledged midfielder.

Patch: TRADE. Oh yeah, absolutely. If you don’t got the Heendog then go gets yourself some Heendog.

TO: BUY. Not many reliable forwards out there but Heeney is one of them.

CW: BUY. His most recent score of 94 was his lowest of the year. You’re paying an extra $127K if you bring him in now, but swallow your pride – not owning him in the back end of the year will be more embarrassing.

Dos: BUY. End the pain of not owning Heeney and jump on board now. Finally playing midfield and absolutely dominating.

7. DAYNE ZORKO $610,000 MID/FWD
AP: BUY. Will be a top-three forward, hard to compete without him.

TM: BUY. You missed a 161 by holding off until post-bye but you also missed a 66 against Hawthorn when he completely lost the plot. Hopefully had plenty of dry needling during the bye to keep his 35-year-old body going for another 12 weeks.

Patch: TRADE. Sadly, he is the real and you need to be aboard until he falls apart due to injury. Will be cheaper in a few weeks if you want to wait, though.

TO: CONSIDER. According to projections he’ll be $40k cheaper in two weeks. Depends on your bye strategy as to whether you wait or go now.

CW: BUY. Looks set to finish as a top forward option if he can stay on the park, and has produced some mega scores. Fresh off the bye, but has struggled against the Dogs in recent times.

Dos: BUY. You don’t always get bargains this time of year. Zorko has proven he’s a top-six forward while healthy, so jump on and enjoy the ride.

8. DYLAN MOORE $500,200 FWD
AP: PASS. Maybe after Hawthorn’s bye.

TM: BUY. The Hawks are absolutely rolling and after GWS this week they take on Richmond and West Coast. Moore ranks seventh for average (94.8) and fifth for total points in the forward line.

Patch: BUY. Will score a lot of 70s and 80s, but when he pops like he did on the weekend it’ll be worth it.

TO: BUY. Surely a top-six forward now. Still gets to play Richmond twice, and West Coast and North Melbourne again.

CW: CONSIDER. I owned Moore last year and it was a treat, but you’ll have to be prepared to ride the wave of owning a true forward.

Dos: WAIT. The value is tempting, the Hawks play Richmond next week which is even more tempting, but surely we wait until after his bye at this point. If your bye structure allows you, or you’re playing for league glory – go for it.

Dylan Moore kicked five goals against the Crows. Picture: Michael Willson/AFL Photos via Getty Images
9. LACHIE NEALE $614,400 MID
AP: BUY. Averaging 117 points a game. My expert analysis tells me that’s pretty good.

TM: BUY. Almost fell off my chair when Phantom pointed out Neale was averaging 117 this year. You’ll cop the odd low score as being tagged seems to make him very angry, but the good weeks will outweigh the bad ones.

Patch: BUY. Great option who more people should be considering. Real sneaky POD.

TO: BUY. As others have mentioned, he’s flown under the radar and is a terrific option this week.

CW: BUY. Yes. Buy. Some big scores and a great POD … for now.

Dos: BUY. The Opening Round byes forced us to overlook the Lions, but now is the time to pounce. Neale has scored under 100 just twice in 2024.

10. LEEK ALEER $190,500 DEF
AP: PASS. How much time in the team does his insane game-saving mark against the Cats buy him? If Jack Buckley is fit it’s a tough call for Adam Kingsley. And he’s not very cheap.

TM: PASS. He was amazing against Geelong – especially post-game when he held up the song to take selfies with fans. But even if he plays this week, Aleer’s job security is low.

Patch: BUY. If he’s named then I’ll be bringing him in, I think.

TO: CONSIDER. Big cash jump came against the Cats. Can he hold his spot? A risk if you go here.

CW: CONSIDER: I planned to bring him in, but with Buckley almost back, it was probably a cash grab move for last week.

Dos: CONSIDER. The price point is a little awkward, but with Jack Buckley ruled out another week we can be confident in job security in the very short-term. If he replicates his performance against the Cats it’ll be hard to kick him out of the Giants’ back six.

Trade guide: Best rookies, bye-free stars
– Al Paton

It’s time to go shopping.

With one mid-season bye round down and three to go, a host of big-scoring guns are available for purchase this week with the promise of playing every round for the rest of the season – including the next three bye weeks.

We have three trades to make that happen (four with a Trade Boost), but unless you have a large war chest waiting to be cracked open, most coaches will need one or possibly two downgrades to fund the new superstar recruits.

And the good news is the rookie scene isn’t looking quite as barren as it did a week ago.

Here are this week’s best cheapies, some bargain options we can’t ignore and the top targets fresh off the round 12 bye.

ROOKIES
WIL DAWSON $117,300 DEF/FWD

Just over 15,000 coaches traded in Dawson last week and will be praying he’s selected this week for his third game in the Kangaroos’ backline. Everyone else can wait until the teams are named and if Dawson is picked, he’s the pick of the cheapies with a Break Even of -46.

Dawson is a 200cm key-position player who scored 79 points in his second game after a quieter 35 in game one. Most coaches will easily field 18 this week with just Port Adelaide and Fremantle on the bye, but we want any rookie we bring in now to be available on field if needed in one or both of the last two bye rounds, which are shaping as much more brutal.

First-year North Melbourne backman Wil Dawson. Picture: Daniel Pockett/Getty Images

Toby McMullin has played five career games. Picture: Phil Hillyard
TOBY McMULLIN $123,900 FWD

McMullin is also on the bubble after playing his second game in round 11 before the Giants had a week off. He looked great in that game, scoring 65 points in a half after being subbed on to replace Stephen Coniglio. Much of the score was built on nine tackles, a stat which should put him in Adam Kingsley’s good books. McMullin’s first game was in opening round, when he scored 32 against Collingwood before being subbed off. In three games last year, he was the sub in two of them. Coniglio is out for 4-6 weeks – hopefully Toby can dodge the sub vest in round 13.

JACK BYTEL $125,700 MID

Another bubble option but unlike the two players listed above Bytel still has a bye to come (round 15) and the timing of the Pies’ Kings Birthday clash is another complication. Teams for the game won’t be named until the weekend, and we won’t know the sub until Monday afternoon. Still, if you are desperate for a cheap midfielder, or like the former Saint, he’s an option.

LACHIE McNEIL $159,100 FWD

Now this is a more promising possibility. Like McMullin, McNeil is on the bubble in SuperCoach after playing two games 10 weeks apart. After a strong pre-season, including 98 points in a practice match against Hawthorn, he flopped in round 1 (14 disposals, 41 points) and was banished to the VFL. But the 22-year-old forward returned on Friday night and booted two goals to go with 11 touches after starting as the sub against Collingwood. His score of 80 points gives him a -29 Break Even if he plays game three this week and, more importantly, should buy him at least two more games in the seniors.

The Dogs are set to lose Sam Darcy (two matches) and Rhylee West (one) to suspensions, and James Harmes and Laitham Vandermeer to hamstring injuries. Tom Liberatore and Ed Richards are possible inclusions, but the Dogs play on Friday night so we’ll know early enough to pivot if McNeil is the sub again or misses out altogether.

If he misses out, four-game Lions Logan Morris ($188k FWD) or Bruce Reville ($205,700 MID/FWD) are alternatives who play in the same Friday night fixture.

MID-SEASON DRAFTEES

If picking rookies off one game is risky, picking them off no games is potentially crazy. But during the byes normal SuperCoach rules go out the window. Nineteen new players were added to SuperCoach last week after the mid-season draft, and the vast majority are priced at the bargain basement $102,400. If one is selected to play over the next 2-3 weeks, temptation will be high to select them sight unseen. One early candidate is Richmond’s No.2 pick Jacob Blight ($102,400 DEF), who played his first game for the Tigers’ VFL side on Saturday and finished with 20 disposals and nine marks in defence – perfect cover if Noah Balta has to move back to the forward line after a knee injury to Mykelti Lefau. Meanwhile, Jack Hutchinson ($102,400 FWD), taken at pick 3 by West Coast, kicked five goals on debut for the Eagles’ WAFL team.

BYE BUSTING VALUE
TIM ENGLISH $563,000 RUC

Landing the right ruck partner for Max Gawn is still puzzling SuperCoaches halfway through the season, but when it comes to value you can’t pass up English for just over $560k. That’s $150k below his starting value, a result of English’s average dropping 16 points a game this year. But the new figure of 112 is nothing to sneeze at, and his performance against Collingwood (16 disposals at 100 per cent efficiency), seven marks and 14 hitouts to advantage for 131 points – was classic English. The Dogs play their next three games at Marvel Stadium, and English won’t be this cheap for long.

CHRISTIAN SALEM $396,100 DEF/MID

Scoring 121 points in a big win against St Kilda is one thing, scoring 91 in a 15-goal loss is almost more impressive. Salem was a rare winner for the Dees in Alice Springs, collecting 27 disposals and just one clanger. Coaches brave enough to take the plunge last week got him at a bargain $345k, but he’s still $25k below his starting value, and can plug a hole in defence or the midfield at least through the tricky bye period. The question will then be whether he’s an on-field keeper, flexible bench back-up for the run home, or will require another trade.

RYLEY SANDERS $289,500 FWD/MID

Remember this guy? Luke Beveridge has made the No.6 pick in last year’s draft earn his spot in the Dogs team, but he showed what he can do when given that opportunity with 98 points from 15 disposals and 11 tackles against the Magpies. His still cheap, earned DPP back in round 6 and has the last bye, but this would be a huge leap of faith.

ROUND 12 BYE PREMIUMS
TOM GREEN $490,000 MID

We thought Green was a huge bargain when his price dropped under $600k. Then he hurt his ankle five minutes into the Sydney derby, and has been a bit off his best since. But forget that – now you can get him for under $500k, which is frankly ridiculous. Green averages 28 disposals and 5.5 clearances a game, and opened the season with scores of 132, 152 and 137. Get on!

Tom Green is refreshed off the GWS bye. Picture: Phil Hillyard
CHAD WARNER $608,300 MID

If you want current form, you can’t go past Warner – his past five scores are 135, 100, 99, 172 and 144. He has the perfect blend of inside ball-winning, outside class and scoreboard impact (nine goals in his past three games and at least one goal in 10 of his 11 matches this year) to dominate SuperCoach. He’s also a great POD, in just 5 per cent of teams.

ERROL GULDEN $535,100 MID

The value option in the Swans midfield, Gulden hasn’t quite hit the heights of last season when he averaged 111 over 23 games. This year it’s 104.5 but with serious upside, demonstrated in his last outing before the bye – 25 disposals, seven tackles, a goal and 131 points against the Bulldogs.

JOSH DUNKLEY $601,000 MID

Dunkley has been a staple in SuperCoach sides for years, but this year he fell off the radar due purely to Brisbane’s draw – the Lions had their first bye in round 2. Now both byes are behind them and you can add one of the biggest scoring weapons in the game to your midfield for $43k under his starting price. Lachie Neale ($614k) is slightly more expensive but an equally valid selection.

Ultimate SuperCoach bye trade planner

Started the season slowly by his high standards, averaging 94 over the first five rounds. But he has found his mojo leading into North Melbourne’s only bye of the season, scoring 109, 152 and 117 since round 9. And we know what an unleashed LDU can do – after the bye last season he powered home with an average of 121 before missing the last two rounds with injury. His body let him down several times last year but that hasn’t been a worry in 2024.

ZAC FISHER $493,800 DEF/FWD

Over the past two weeks the debate was whether to pick Fisher as a bargain mid-pricer, now he’s a different proposition. If you’re paying that much you want to get a season keeper, but there’s a good argument Fisher could be just that – at least in the forward line. He has been given the keys to one of the most lucrative roles in SuperCoach, a rebounder in North Melbourne’s backline. Since starting as the sub in round 7 he has put up scores of 95, 140, 116 and 113. And in that time Harry Sheezel has moved out of the backline, freeing up plenty of footy – and kick-ins (25 in his past three games).

Full SuperCoach scores from VFL, SANFL, WAFL on June 8-9 weekend
A mid-season draftee at the bargain price of $102,400 in SuperCoach exploded in the VFL last weekend, and he wasn’t the only cheapie to impress. See every score here.

Pencil the name Saad El-Hawli into your SuperCoach trade plans for next week or beyond.
Essendon’s mid-season draft recruit wowed onlookers with an explosive 27 disposals, eight marks, four goals and 148 SuperCoach points in the VFL on Sunday to put himself in the frame for an AFL debut after the Bombers’ bye.

It was one of the standout performances in the state leagues on the weekend, when almost 200 AFL-listed players featured in the VFL, SANFL and WAFL.

Brisbane veteran Jarryd Lyons posted the highest score of the week, registering 183 points after racking up 32 disposals and three goals against Footscray. It was a familiar stat line for Lyons, who is averaging 155 in the VFL this season but sits outside the Lions’ best 23.

El-Hawli has averaged 111 points in 10 games playing on the wing and half-back. And best of all, he’s a $102,400 DEF/MID in SuperCoach. Nate Caddy ($166,800 FWD) booted three goals in the same game and scored 93 SuperCoach points.

Among the other standouts over the June 8-9 weekend – round 11 in the VFL, round 9 in the SANFL and round 10 in the WAFL:

RICHMOND’S mid-season draftee Jacob Blight ($102,400 DEF) scored 101 points from 18 disposals and three intercept marks, backing up his 135-point game the week before. He’s ready to go if the Tigers need him.

BULLDOG Jedd Busslinger ($123,900 DEF) took five intercept marks and had 27 disposals to register 133 SuperCoach points. It wasn’t out of the blue – he has scored 113, 93, 119 and 133 in his past four games – and the first-round draft pick is in the mix to replace injured defender Alex Keath this week.

TOBY McMullin ($157,700 FWD) few from Tasmania to Melbourne on Sunday morning after playing as the sub for the Giants in the AFL, and kicked a goal to go with 21 disposals in the VFL to finish with 106 SuperCoach points.

BIGOA Nyuon is unlikely to break back into North Melbourne’s AFL line-up any time soon based on his VFL numbers – one disposal, six spoils and 22 SuperCoach points last round, and a three-round average of 26.

LAWSON Humphries could add to the list of genius Geelong recruiting moves. Plucked from WAFL club Swan Districts at age 20 with the second-last pick in last year’s draft, the speedy defender has averaged 97 SuperCoach points in 10 matches for the Cats’ VFL outfit. Against the Swans on Sunday he collected 28 disposals, hitting the target with 15 of his 18 kicks including the sealing goal to finish with 148 SuperCoach points.

Will Dawson?

Just found from NMFC media

Young defender Wil Dawson has suffered a shoulder injury, sidelining him for the near future.
The 2023 draftee sustained the high-grade AC joint injury in a groundball contest during the early stages of the Round 13 clash with West Coast at Optus Stadium and is currently in a sling.
He's yet to have a timeframe for a return, with North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White saying Dawson "will be assessed once out of the sling to determine strength, function, and a return-to-play timeline based off how he recovers during this initial phase."

SuperCoach AFL 2024: Best trade targets for round 15
We’re almost there. There is one bye round to go, but it could derail your SuperCoach season – unless you follow this week’s expert trade advice.

The scramble is on.

After a head-spinning seven bye rounds so far in 2024, there is light at the end of the tunnel with just one to go.

But round 15 could trip up plenty of coaches with a host of popular SuperCoach players missing and trades starting to dwindle.

Here’s a short list of premiums on the bye this week – Marcus Bontempelli, Nick Daicos, Jordan Dawson, Jack Steele, Dylan Moore. And where things really start to bite is with cheapies who can we rely on to cover missing guns.

Lachie Sullivan, Joel Freijah, Darcy Wilson, Hugo Garcia, Riley Garcia, Kane McAuliffe, Jack Bytel, Nathan Kreuger and Billy Dowling can’t help us.

You can’t move on Dowling or Kreuger yet, and most of the others have limited cash to deploy, although packaging up two of them could get you to a bye-free gun.

That leaves the sideways trade option, with Dawson (three-round average 83.6), Steele (five-round average 97.2) and Moore (one ton in his past six games) under consideration to be traded out on their bye.

Our advice on all three is to hold firm unless moving them on is the only way to get 18 scoring players – and you have enough trades left to survive the run home. And the player you’re getting instead is a rolled gold SuperCoach star.

Luckily, there are some outstanding targets this week fresh off the round 14 bye.

ROOKIES
Arie Schoenmaker $117,300 DEF

The Tasmanian slid to No.62 in the draft but that is looking like a steal after his accomplished debut for the Saints on Friday night. Eighteen disposals for 83 points makes him the standout cheapie target – or it would if St Kilda didn’t have the bye. If you can field 18 this week you could still trade him in to free up cash, otherwise he’s a great downgrade target next week. If you don’t mind trading in a cheapie on the bye, Billy Dowling ($123k MID/FWD, Break Even -46) and Nathan Kreuger ($123k FWD, BE -50) will be on the bubble in round 16.

Jack Hutchinson $102,400 FWD

The Eagles play this week which is a plus, but Hutchinson’s 40 points on debut from four disposals two weeks ago is less inspiring. While the price is appealing, Hutchinson’s scoring potential and job security are very large question marks. Wait until teams are finalised if possible before committing – West Coasts faces Essendon in the first Sunday game.

Karl Worner $134,100 DEF

On paper Warner presents an even better option down back than Schoenmaker, based on the fact Fremantle does play in round 15. His scoring has been good, too, with scores of 63 (when he was subbed off with concussion in the third quarter) and 78 in his two matches – resulting in a -63 Break Even. The issue is those two matches were 13 rounds apart; after returning from concussion protocols Worner had to bide his time in the WAFL until he was a late in against the Dogs on Saturday. He replaced Heath Chapman (hamstring awareness), who could be back next week, and Brennan Cox could also be available this week after his own hamstring layoff. Wait for teams, although it doesn’t help that the Dockers play in the final match of the round on Sunday afternoon.

Jye Menzie $209,600 FWD

The Essendon small forward was deployed in a new role at half-back in round 13 and the move was a success as Menzie collected 20 disposals and 92 SuperCoach points – resulting in a -35 Break Even entering round 15. A match-up against the Eagles is enticing but the likely return of Mason Redman could send Menzie back to the forward pocket. If Brad Scott commits during the week to the Menzie defender experiment, we are very interested.

PREMIUMS
You won’t find the names Max Gawn or Sam Flanders on this list. If for some reason you don’t have one or both, correct that error now.

Zach Merrett $577,600 MID

We could nearly have included Merrett with Gawn or Flanders, but his ownership is much lower at 23 per cent. That is largely due to a larger pool of top-end midfielders, a reluctance by many coaches to start Merrett in the hope his price would fall early in the season, and an inability to afford him when that turned out to be very wrong. But the planets have aligned as the Bombers exit their bye, with the skipper finally available at a discount of $72k from his starting value. That’s a result of two down games – scores of 94 and 97 count as down weeks when Merrett has scored at least 108 every week this year, including six totals over 125. He’s the fourth-ranked pure midfielder on average and looks a lock to finish in the top six. If you can find a way to get him, you won’t look back.

Jordan Ridley $563,900 DEF

The No.1 ranked defender on averages, he’s way underpriced based on those numbers. The average is skewed slightly by the fact Ridley has played just three matches after missing the first 10 rounds with injury. It is also heavily impacted by a monster 162 against Richmond, a team that gives up bulk points to defenders just about every week (including 147 to James Sicily last round). But Ridley also went over 110 against Gold Coast and Carlton, has a great role and he finishes the season with nine of his last 10 games at either Marvel Stadium or the MCG.

Max Holmes $574,200 DEF/MID

One of the surprise packets of 2024, Holmes has scored well wherever Chris Scott has deployed him this year – averaging 103.7. But his numbers really spiked when he became a fixture at centre bounces, resulting in a three-round average of 118. Holmes has attended at least 40 per cent of CBAs in his past four games, resulting in scores of 104, 134, 133 and 88. Match-ups against St Kilda and West Coast in the final two rounds could be big for SuperCoach finals.

Jeremy McGovern $555,200 DEF

West Coast’s intercept king has been a fantastic POD for 8 per cent of SuperCoaches this year. He has tonned up in nine of his 13 games and from round 9-12 he scored between 114 and 117 in four straight matches. A horror injury history is an obvious red flag but he has played every game so far this year, even fronting up the next week after he was taken to hospital following a horror landing against Collingwood. In that game he was subbed out in the second quarter – and still scored 114.

Matt Rowell $541,800 MID

This is a bargain price for one of the powerhouse scorers of the first half of the season. But Rowell has been off the boil lately, with just two scores over 100 in his past six outings. His rollercoaster scoring mirrors the Suns’ this year; Rowell is averaging 148.8 in five matches at People First Stadium on the Gold Coast, and 100.1 elsewhere. The answer to the obvious question is the Suns have four home matches to come in the final 10 rounds, but away fixtures against North Melbourne, West Coast and Richmond should provide the opportunity for some more big scores.

Sam Walsh $548,800 MID

The fixture should also do Walsh some favours after a very tough run by the Blues and some close attention from taggers. Walsh, who hasn’t scored below 85 this year, returns from the bye against Geelong, which has given up huge scores to opposition midfielders including 157 to Errol Gulden, 149 to Noah Anderson, 128 to Matt Rowell, 157 to Ollie Wines and 147 to Zak Butters – all since round 9. Then comes the Tigers, before a clash against North Melbourne in round 19 and a dream SuperCoach finals run – Hawthorn, West Coast, St Kilda (hopefully Marcus Windhager is out of the tagging business by then).

Charlie Curnow $448,300 FWD

See all the fixture notes above for Curnow, who is a major boom or bust option to finish our forward lines. With very few reliable scorers at that end of the ground, it could be the perfect time to take a flyer on a superstar at a bargain price. Curnow hasn’t gone ballistic yet this season – his season-high is 122 against North Melbourne – but he rarely flops either, with just four scores under 80 (and three of those were in the 70s). And if you need a reminder of what Charlie is capable of, check out these scores from last season: 130 against North, 186 against West Coast, 127 against Gold Coast, 178 against West Coast again. A reminder, the Blues finish the year against the Hawks, Eagles and Saints.

Jeremy Cameron $420,000 FWD

The logic of picking Jezza is the same as Charlie, although Cameron has had three scores of 61 or worse so far this year. On the flip side, he’s gone over 120 three times, too. The Cats’ fixture is almost as enticing as Carlton’s with a clash against the Kangaroos (in Hobart), the Saints in SuperCoach preliminary final weekend and the Eagles in the SuperCoach grand final.

Stats insider: Full round 14 centre bounce numbers, key SuperCoach intel

As more SuperCoach stars fall victim to taggers, see who we need to fear, who they could target this week plus key intel including CBAs and the round 14 kick-in king.

Taggers are coming for the biggest names in SuperCoach, and their impact could extend beyond the centre square.
Friday night’s clash between the Brisbane Lions and St Kilda featured duelling tags, with Marcus Windhager given the job on Lachie Neale and Jarrod Berry following Jack Steele.

Neale battled through the tag all night while St Kilda coach Ross Lyon responded by moving his captain to a totally new role.

Steele spent large parts of the second half in the forward line, attending just 39 per cent of centre bounces at the Gabba, his lowest figure in at least five years.

He was replaced in the centre square by Windhager (30 CBAs), veteran Seb Ross (nine) and livewire Liam Henry (13). The positive for the Saints – and the worry for Steele owners in SuperCoach – is the impact of Henry in particular in his new role. He sprang to life with seven disposals in the final quarter including two goals as St Kilda rattled home seven goals to almost run down the Lions.

It’s unlikely to be a permanent shift, but it is another ace up Lyon’s sleeve.

In other key round 14 moves:

Secret SuperCoach stats
Each week Champion Data guru Fantasy Freako lifts the lid on the SuperCoach scoring system by analysing key moments from the weekend games.

Here are the numbers you need to know from round 14, breaking down the key tagging duels.

Marcus Windhager v LachieNeale

It was Neale’s heaviest tag of the season as Marcus Windhager kept him to just 15 disposals in the 89 minutes they were matched up. Neale also scored a season-low 70 points.

After the bye St Kilda faces Port Adelaide, Sydney and the Crows.

Jarrod Berry v Jack Steele

Steele has just 11 disposals in the 61 minutes he was matched up on Jarrod Berry. It was the first time Steele has been tagged this year.

Berry could get a job against Port Adelaide this week, the Demons in round 16 and the Crows in round 17.

Max Michalanney v Chad Warner

After finishing in the midfield in round 13 Michalanney played as a centre bounce midfielder last round in a tagging role on Chad Warner. Warner had just 11 disposals in the 70 minutes they were matched up.

If Michalanney gets more defensive roles the Giants (round 16), Lions (round 17) and Saints (round 18) are next on the menu.

Will Phillips v Nick Daicos

Daicos couldn’t shake a Will Phillips tag – managing just 14 disposals in the 70 minutes they were matched up before Phillips was subbed out. Daicos had 10 disposals, three score assists and 53 points in the final term.

Alastair Clarkson could give Phillips jobs against Melbourne, the Bulldogs and Gold Coast in the next three weeks.

Willem Drew v Tom Green

It wasn’t the first time that Green was tagged this year. Drew kept him to nine disposals in the 48 minutes they were matched up.

Green was his own worst enemy as he had just 18 effective disposals from a tally of 30.

Drew could have a Lions star in his sights this week, with the Saints, Bulldogs and Suns to follow.

Toby Bedford v Zak Butters

Bedford tagged for the first time in his career and kept Butters to just 11 disposals in the 59 minutes they were matched up.

Following his success Bedford is line for negating job against one of the Swans’ stars in Saturday’s Sydney derby. The Giants then face Adelaide and Carlton.

Western Bulldogs v Luke Ryan

Team defence played a key role for the Bulldogs as they restricted Fremantle to just 17 uncontested marks in the defensive 50 – the Dockers’ second-fewest this year. They denied the Dockers the easy outlet coming out of defence and that saw Luke Ryan really struggle with a season-low 15 disposals and 79 points.

LDU’S wild ride

Luke Davies-Uniacke had 21 disposals and 74 points to his name at halftime as North Melbourne stormed to a nine-goal lead against Collingwood.

He failed to score from four disposals in the third term before roaring home with a 73-point final quarter that included six disposals, six contested possessions, two tackles and one score assist.

Zorko’s wild ride

Dayne Zorko’s first half was incredible as he had 21 disposals and 112 points to his name – with all 40 acts being effective. He scored a further 30 points in the second half from six effective disposals – losing 12 points through negative acts.

Heeney’s wild ride

Isaac Heeney sparked the Swans with an incredible 82-point third term – having 10 disposals, five inside-50s, three tackles, two score assists and a goal. His goal was his best scoring moment in the match, netting him 10.5 points. A second goal in the final term earned him seven points.

Heeney had seven effective disposals and 37 points at halftime.

SuperCoach AFL 2024: Best trade targets for round 15
A late inclusion for Fremantle’s loss to the Bulldogs could be the missing piece of this week’s SuperCoach trade puzzle. See all the top targets for the final bye round.

Al Paton

June 18, 2024 - 12:06PM

The scramble is on.

After a head-spinning seven bye rounds so far in 2024, there is light at the end of the tunnel with just one to go.

But round 15 could trip up plenty of coaches with a host of popular SuperCoach players missing and trades starting to dwindle.

Here’s a short list of premiums on the bye this week – Marcus Bontempelli, Nick Daicos, Jordan Dawson, Jack Steele, Dylan Moore. And where things really start to bite is with cheapies who we normally rely on to cover missing guns.

ROOKIES
Karl Worner $134,100 DEF

A defensive rookie on the bubble seems like a SuperCoach gift, but there is a catch. Worner’s scoring has been good, with totals of 63 (when he was subbed off with concussion in the third quarter) and 78 in his two matches – resulting in a -63 Break Even. The catch is those two matches were 13 rounds apart; after returning from concussion protocols Worner had to bide his time in the WAFL until he was a late in against the Dogs on Saturday. He replaced Heath Chapman, who was a late out with hamstring awareness. Worner’s spot could be in danger if Chapman returns next week, while Brennan Cox could also be available after his own hamstring layoff. Wait for teams – if Worner is named for his third match, he’ll be the ideal round 15 downgrade.

RILEY Garcia can perhaps consider himself unlucky to be dropped from the Bulldogs team last week, but he’s ready if Luke Beveridge needs him after the bye.
The lively half-forward starred for Footscray with 31 disposals, 18 contested possessions and eight tackles in a performance worth 155 SuperCoach points.

Garcia has played four VFL games this season for scores of 183, 131, 148 and 155.

His namesake Hugo Garcia is averaging 115 at the lower level after a 108-point game for Sandringham, against Brisbane. He had 10 tackles to go with 18 disposals and a dozen contested possessions.

Scroll down to see every SuperCoach score from AFL-listed players

Meanwhile, Port Adelaide has some options if Ken Hinkley wants to fix his misfiring forward line, even if Charlie Dixon has been rubbed out for three weeks by the SANFL tribunal.

Jeremy Finlayson responded to being dropped with a 158-SuperCoach point performance against West Adelaide. Finlayson had 25 disposals, seven marks, nine score assists and kicked 1.3. Teenage key forward Tom Scully kicked four goals for 90 points while Jordon Sweet dominated in the ruck (43 hitouts, nine to advantage, 137 SuperCoach points).

Among the other standouts over the June 15-16 weekend – round 12 in the VFL, round 10 in the SANFL and round 11 in the WAFL (where West Coast had a bye):

JAMES Peatling proved again he can score at any level with a weekend-high 170 SuperCoach points, racking up 31 disposals, nine tackles and two goals for the Giants.

JOEL Hamling played as a forward for Sydney’s VFL side, booting four goals and scoring 116 points.

RICHMOND mid-season draftee Jacob Blight ($102,400 DEF) had another strong outing with 18 disposals, seven intercept marks and 90 SuperCoach points.

NORTH Melbourne’s No.1 pick in the mid-season draft Geordie Payne had his best game in the VFL, scoring 98 points from 17 disposals, one goal and four score involvements.

More than 70 players have earned dual-position status in SuperCoach since round 1, and more changes are on the way.
Champion Data’s third mid-season position review will take place after round 17, with any new SuperCoach DPPs assigned for the final six rounds of the season – including SuperCoach finals.
AFL coaches experimenting with mid-season role changes have opened the door for updates that could have a big impact in SuperCoach.
Scroll down to see the latest exclusive time in position numbers for some of the big DPP contenders.

DPP CHANGES in 2024
The three DPP changes this year will take place:
  • After round 6, before round 7
  • After round 11, before round 12
  • After round 17, before round 18
NOTE: Positions cannot be removed once added and a player can only have a maximum of two positions. To be eligible for a second position, a player must play 35 per cent or more in a secondary position and feature in 50 per cent of games during the data period.

The prospect of getting Travis Boak as a MID/FWD would have been a SuperCoach game change once, but not so much this season with an average of 75.9. He currently sits at 36 per cent forward time.

Chad Warner MID
Midfield 74%
Forward 26%

Now this would be big. Only Isaac Heeney, Sam Flanders and Dayne Zorko would have a better average than Warner if he became a FWD-MID. Warner’s centre bounce numbers have been down from about round 6, averaging 56 per cent in the past eight games. He attended only 48 per cent against Adelaide when he was tagged by Max Michalanney. A big watch in coming rounds with tags possible against GWS (Toby Bedford) and St Kilda (Marcus Windhager).

Harry Sheezel DEF
Defence 53%
Midfield 26%
Forward 22%

It might have taken Sheezel a couple of weeks to adjust to being taken out of his sweeping role in defence, but he is back to the SuperCoach scoring powerhouse we know and love with four straight scores of 117 or higher. A late-season DPP addition would be nice but isn’t likely given he is now splitting his time between the midfield and forward line. Could he be a MID/FWD in 2025?

Jason Horne-Francis MID
Midfield 70%
Forward 30%

The perennial DPP tease is at it again. After flirting with FWD-MID before round 7 and round 12, Horne-Francis has again hit 30 per cent FWD time. Connor Rozee’s return to the Port side had a bigger impact on Willem Drew and Ollie Wines’ midfield time, so don’t bank on the skipper having much influence on Horne-Francis becoming DPP. Most teams are close to finishing their forward lines but Horne-Francis would be a great addition for league finals if he became FWD-MID.

Toby Pink DEF

The Roos swingman (can we call him that now?) might end up being the only DPP addition before round 18. Pink was drafted to Arden St to shore up North Melbourne’s defence but has spent the past month playing in attack. His DEF-FWD swing will be valuable in the run home for coaches with Pink’s North Melbourne teammate Zac Fisher. Just make sure you have them at opposite ends of the field.

Lachie Sullivan MID
MID 68%
FWD 32%

Sullivan is spending enough time in the forward line to be a shot at MID/FWD in the next position review but his bigger issue is how much time he spends on the field at all – playing just 55 per cent of the Pies’ nailbiter against North Melbourne. With Jordan De Goey due back after Collingwood’s bye, the SSP success story faces a battle to survive in the team until round 18.

Steele Sidebottom MID
Midfield 72%
Defence 28%

Likely DPP could make Sidebottom an interesting candidate as an extra premo on the bench; he’s just $401k but has scored 102 and 125 in his past two games. A shift to half-back revived his season, but will it continue? He attended a season-high 33 per cent of centre bounces against the Kangaroos.

Jordan Dawson
Midfield 76%
Forward 24%

Ever since that fitness test at the MCG, Dawson has looked a shell of the player who averaged 132.6 from rounds 6-11. His drop-off is likely down to the foot issue he has been managing, rather than a change in his role in recent matches. During his golden stretch Dawson averaged only 56 per cent CBAs, predominantly starting on a wing and roaming the field. But more recently – due to injury and a midfield shake-up at the Crows – he has spent more time at half-forward and even deep in attack. Dawson has struggled to score like a premium midfielder in the past three weeks but would be very relevant as a FWD-MID.

Izak Rankine FWD
Midfield 31%
Forward 69%

Rankine was a 52 per cent of Adelaide’s centre bounces in his first game back from a hamstring injury, and the absence of Matt Crouch should mean more midfield opportunities for the potential matchwinner. He has three weeks to get from 31 per cent to 35 per cent midfield time – we think he’ll get there.

Zac Williams DEF
Defence 72%
Forward 28%

One of the most popular starting picks of 2024 is firming by the week for DPP after emerging as a key attacking weapon for Carlton. Williams has booted 10 goals in the past four weeks since being shifted into attack, where he has settled after a few shaky moments in defence in the first half of 2024. Williams’ ownership has dropped from about 64 per cent at the start of the season to under 15 per cent.

Jye Menzie FWD
Forward 69%
Midfield 14%
Defence 17%

The small forward was trialled in a new role in Essendon’s last outing against Carlton, collecting 20 disposals, nine marks and 92 SuperCoach points playing in defence. If he plays as a pure defender for the next three weeks he’ll push for DEF/FWD DPP, but that’s a bit if with Mason Redman’s impending return.

Connor Rozee MID
Midfield 77%
Forward 23%

The equation is a lot tougher for Rozee, especially after attending 61 per cent of centre bounces last weekend. The Port skipper is projected to be priced at $388k next week which is crazy value for a player who scored 152 against Essendon earlier this year. Hoping for DPP as well is getting greedy.
