In praise of Josh Allen:
Pre-season he lost his main pass catcher Diggs (160 targets) and a reasonable back-up Gabe Davis (81 targets). That's 42% of Allen's 2023 targets.
He was left with:
Shakir - 3rd yr WR with only 42 targets in 2023
Kincaid - 2nd yr TE with 98 targets in 2023
Knox - 6th yr TE coming off injury-interrupted 2023
Samuel - 8th yr WR new to Buffalo
Coleman - 1st yr WR
Mid-year they added Cooper - his contribution has been minimal.
Yet, somehow, Buffalo is currently having their highest scoring season with Allen at QB.

If anyone is looking for a RB, may I suggest Gibbs.
He is currently #3 on the season while in a roughly 50:50 time-share with Montgomery.
But now Montgomery is out for the season and Gibbs is likely to be Detroit's workhorse.
To date, he has far less touches than the other top RBs: 186 carries compared to Barkley 285, Kamarra 228, Bijan 236, Henry 254 and Jacobs 265.
His 48 targets are way more than Henry's 15, slightly more than Jacobs' 38 and Barkley's 40, slightly less than Bijan's 60 and way less than Kamarra's 89.

While his targets share may not change there is no doubt he will get more carries.
Who knows how he will score as the clear RB1?

But will Mickey Penis be any better?

That is the question.
Clearly Atlanta think so. The deal for Cousins was worth up to $180m and looks like they do not think they are getting value for money. If Penix shows up on the weekend Cousins might become one very expensive backup. He is guaranteed $100m and if they flick him next year Atlanta take a $65m deadcap hit. As a Vikings supporter and watching Cousins for years I thought the $180m Atlanta deal was a bit silly. And Cousins must have been wondering what was going on in the background when Penix was recruited.

Any thoughts on vc/c this week?
My obvious vc is Lamar at home to Pittsburgh. But he doesn't score well against them: only 31 earlier this year, 21 last year.
Hurts away to Washington isn't an appealing c choice. Washington have been good against QBs.
If Lamar fails I'm almost tempted to turn to Gibbs. He's away to Chicago and they've been bad against the run recently.
Guerendo managed 51 against them a couple of weeks ago and the Gibbs/Montgomery duo 45 between them before that.
Although I admit Gibbs would be a risk. Better as a vc

Since my Captain Loop, T Brown, plays at 5am on Monday, my only Vice-Captain choice is N Collins, who plays on Sunday.
For Captain, the top-ranked J Allen is the optimal media's choice, therefore I best stick with him.

Just watched the Bronco-Chargers replay. What seriously weird game. Broncos hammer Chargers with the run game early and score 3 TD as a result. Then for the rest of the game they move away from that even when they lead by 11 points. Then as the 2nd quarter comes to a close Brocos punt but foul the fair catch receiver. The clock is at zero but Chargers get possession and a 15 yd penalty which puts them in FG range. Then with zero on the clock each team takes a time out! Why???? The clock is stopped and the Broncos are not allowed to attempt to block the kick as it is deemed a free kick. Chargers kick the FG and that is the first time that scenario has been seen since 1976. Great game by Herbert and the Broncos killed themselves with second half penalties conceding 21 points without a reply.
