Just glad that there is no split round. : )

Ended up picking a few rookies I ended up regretting last year because they were confirmed for week 1.

Some news on Preseason games for 2015..

THE AFL returns the NAB Cup formula to three full rounds.

Despite suggestions the league might play 27 NAB Cup games in 27 days, that fixture would be unworkable for clubs keen on consistent breaks in their pre-season program.
The league will play three official rounds of games — up from two and a practice match last year — and while most will be televised the AFL will not play them on consecutive days.

A full round of pre-season games at metropolitan venues on March 20-22 will be played before a vacant weekend that leads into the Carlton-Richmond season kick-off on April 2.

Under the AFL’s NAB Cup format last year some clubs had massive breaks between games that made it hard to build pre-season momentum.
Abandoning the model of playing a game each day allows for greater flexibility, according to Lethlean.

“We are definitely going to formalise a third round of matches which we did informally last year. 27 in a row is logistically too hard,” Lethlean said.

So apparently ch 7 news the other night said there would be 4 Thursday night games in Rounds 12 to 15. These would be one each in Melb, Syd, Perth and Adelaide (order unknown).

Which suggests to me that they will likely have 3 bye rounds (probably 6 games in each week) in rounds 12, 13 and 14 which would make fixturing a lot easier to avoid short breaks for the teams involved.

Multiple Bye Rounds smack in the middle of the season when most of us are close to finishing or hoping to have a full team of premiums. Going to make SC life interesting strategising around that!

(Note again, this is my assumption that there will be multi bye rounds then, nothing official or no direct leaks to that).

St Kilda to play Carlton in Wellington on Anzac Day at 11:10am Melbourne time time according to latest AFL article (on phone so find it hard to post link).

Quite surprised they scheduled Carlton there, thought they would have played an interstate Club there.

Also means the day will have wall to wall footy with Saints v Blues, Ess v Coll, a twilight game and then two night games.

Tigers
R1 - carlton
R2 - doggies
R4 - dees

Favourable draw it looks like and 14 games at the G. Why hello Cotch! cheap cheap! :p

Tigers to hog MCG in 2015

RICHMOND will play 14 games at the MCG in 2015, including six monster blockbusters against Carlton (twice), Collingwood (twice) and Essendon (twice).

The Tigers will also have up to six Saturday afternoon games, according to The Age.

It has been confirmed by the AFL that Richmond and Carlton will kick-off the 2015 season with their traditional round one clash on Thursday, April 2. This will be an away game for Richmond.

Then the Tigers will most likely face the Western Bulldogs back at the MCG in round two, the report says.

A desire to play on Anzac Day eve - which will be a Friday night - is also set to be fulfilled, with the Tigers expected to host Melbourne in round four. Both clubs hope to make the Anzac Day eve clash a regular fixture.

Richmond is scheduled to play only one match at bogy ground Etihad Stadium, against North Melbourne, next year and is tipped to have just one trip to Perth - most likely to take on Fremantle.

The Tigers will play the Dreamtime at the 'G game against Essendon on a Saturday night in May.

All Saturday night games in Melbourne will start 20 minutes earlier in 2015 to make it more attractive to families. Saturday night starts have typically been at 7.40pm AEST.

Richmond is expected to match Collingwood's 14 appearances at the MCG next season – a jump of two games from 2014.

The full fixture will be revealed on Thursday, October 30.

5 matches wow

Saints v Carlton
Essendon v Collingwood
1 x twilight
2 x night

ST KILDA and Carlton will play in Wellington in the opening game on Anzac Day next year, which marks the 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli.

The match will start at 1.10pm local time (11.10am AEST), meaning it will coincide with the Anzac Day marches that take place in each capital city around Australia.

It will be the first of five matches to be played on Anzac Day next year, which falls on a Saturday, and comes with the agreement of the Victorian RSL after discussions with the AFL.

State president of the Victorian RSL, Major General David McLachlan AO, gave his organisation's blessing on the proviso that the New Zealand match would be televised only on Fox Footy.

"Importantly the scheduling means that broadcasts of the matches on Anzac Day will not conflict with any live free to air televising of the capital city marches and other commemorative activities in the various states and territories," he said.

The traditional Collingwood-Essendon clash will take place at the MCG that afternoon, with a twilight clash and two night games to follow. It will be the first quadruple-header in AFL history.

The full schedule for the historic day will be announced with the rest of the 2015 AFL fixture next Thursday.

The clash with the Blues will be the third home and away game hosted by the Saints in Wellington and their first against a fellow Victorian club.

It will also be the first Wellington game to be played during the day, which the Saints and the AFL hope will lead to a larger crowd at Westpac Stadium.

The inaugural clash in 2013 between the Saints and the Sydney Swans drew 22,546 and the match earlier this year with the Brisbane Lions attracted 13,409 fans.

"The first-ever matches for premiership points in New Zealand, away from Australian soil over the last two years, have built a strong following across the Tasman and we look forward to an excellent contest between two foundation clubs of the competition," said Simon Lethlean, the AFL's general manager of broadcasting, fixturing and major events.

"Anzac Day is a central point on the Australian calendar and the AFL is greatly appreciative of the RSL's support for football being able to recognise and thank the contribution of our service women and service men through our history."

The Wellington match will be Mick Malthouse's 714th match as an AFL coach, equalling the League record held by Jock McHale. The Carlton coach will break the record the following week, with reports suggesting it will be at the MCG against Collingwood, the club of McHale and which Malthouse himself coached for 12 seasons (including the 2010 premiership).

The fixturing of the Saints and Blues in Wellington brings to an end a five-year run of the two clubs playing a Monday night game, usually the day after Mother's Day, at Etihad Stadium. Monday night games are under review.

It probably should be noted Anzac Day is a Saturday next year. So essentially have moved one of the usual day games earlier to create the non stop action.

Gee just imagine all the SC carnage that could happen with 5 matches on the one day! Then to top off, Sunday happened...

I'll spend the first half an hour going through Essendon's draw and putting all the games in my calendar, then all thoughts move to SC bye/fixture strategy!!

Looks like Gaz and Pendles share the same bye, again!

Round 12 seems to be the toughest at this stage.
