Yeah im all over Sheed as well. If named, i'm on him. Was injured recently i recall but must be ok if you're on him :D
As far as I know he wasn't injured... He just didn't train on the field for one session last week. He could have been just doing weights downstairs for all we know. Not uncommon for a second year player who played all 3 NAB games and the Indigenous All-Stars game as well to have a session off the week before the season starts. Just pure player management I suspect.

Our boys fly out in the next couple of hours so will know who's on the plane soon.

Have also had Sheed for some time, but that big ground in WA worries me.
What worries you about the big ground?

It is an advantage to our boys training and playing on it all the time.

Sheed's strengths are Ball winning ability, Elite Endurance and Decision making.

thoughts on what cripps and sheed will average?
I reckon Sheed should go for 80-85 at least. Cripps slightly better maybe.

Sheed averaged 143 SuperCoach points at the under-18 championships in 2013 where he won the Larke Medal as the best player in Division One... despite breaking his collarbone in WA's final match where he had 29 touches and four goals to his name when he went down.

He is a prolific ball winner and It's only a matter of time in my opinion before that is translates in his AFL game.

I was of the opinion that Sheeds biggest knock was his ability to run out games but if you say he has elite endurance that makes me feel a little better. Whilst also it might be an advantage training on it at times, I also see it as having an affect on SC scores for certain types of players. Without having numbers or stats to back it up, I would think it would not be ideal for those in and under type players as there may not be as many stoppages. Don't quote me on that, like I said I've looked at no figures to back this up, just a gut feel.

I think it's his speed that's the issue especially considering west coasts slow midfeild.

Melbourne has upgraded Aaron Vandenberg from rookie list as replacement for Christian Petracca, who was already on long-term injury list.

Midfield rookies, talk to me:

Rookie Premos (200kers)
-Cripps
- Newtown
- Sheed

+ All seem a decent bet to start and get some games
- Are 200k a piece

Rookie Midpricers (130 - 200k)
- Cockatoo
- Anderson
- Heeney

+ Heeney looks good to go
- All play for clubs with plenty of talent ahead of them

Bargains (less than 130k)
- CEY
- Miller
- Smith
- ...

+ Are cheap
- Not exactly 100s of them

Any more to add to any list? I keep hearing "mid rookies are better options" - but is that just the 200kers?

Yeah his speed is not fantastic, he's not slow... but he's just not that fast. But that has not stopped Matt Priddis from racking up elite SC numbers for the last 6 years.

What he does have is Elite kicking skills on both sides of his body. Matt Priddis certainly doesn't have that. So as we have seen with someone like Sam Mitchell, you can be slow but have elite skills and score really well. Sheed is also a lot better goal kicker than Priddis which will be to his advantage.

Interesting... Two different verdicts on Vandenberg.

As a West Coast fan... Not terribly excited at seeing Kane Lucas upgraded.
