The first 2 don't interest me, the last one I just traded out last week to Beams

Not sure if you have him and want to fork out a bit more coin but the Rock Lobster looking good
Tom Rockliff hm... would be a straight inclusion if not for his ribs.
Will gimme something to think about all week, thanks!

I noticed in Doc Larkins update (which always needs to be taken with a grain of salt) that Clancee Pearce was concussed against the Hawks which would explain why he was subbed.

I didn't watch the game, can anybody confirm that he suffered a concussion?

On the Sam Mitchell topic, I just came across this in an article: "In 2008, when Mitchell was Hawks captain, Mitchell and teammate Luke Hodge were revealed by Mike Sheahan as two players who had *incensed Brisbane Lions players with their “illegal” tactics in Round 5 of that season. It was reported the AFL umpiring department had been alerted to Mitchell and Hodge’s alleged practice of trying to cork opponents’ legs."
I thought this was common knowledge and the reason that people were calling for action on Mitchell. It's proof that he has literally, been doing this for years. Was never going to get games for it this time, but at least now he will if he does it again.

Yeah looks like Sammy is gonna change the way he approaches collisions. I was listening to SEN last night and they reckon him going unpenalised would have lead to more and more players doing it, to the point all players would then start kneeing to protect themselves against bumps!

'I need to change': Mitchell admits Fyfe hit 'not a good look'

SAM MITCHELL concedes he must stop lifting his knee to protect himself from oncoming opponents after copping a fine from the Match Review Panel.

Mitchell accepted a $1500 fine for raising his knee and 'corking' Nat Fyfe during Hawthorn's thumping 72-point win over Fremantle on Sunday.

It was the second time this year that the Hawks veteran has come under scrutiny for raising his knee, after he made contact with Crow Taylor Walker in round 12.

Mitchell was cleared by the MRP after the Walker incident, which later forced the Adelaide captain to be substituted out of the match.

But he said industry feedback from the Fyfe clash indicated he had to change his approach.

"I looked at the vision that the MRP look at and I can understand why it's not a good look and it's not a good thing for the game," Mitchell told Hawthorn's website.

"Although it's not my intention in that situation to hurt the other person – it's purely just to protect myself – I guess the game has given me the feedback that I need to change the way I go about doing that.

"I'll work on some techniques over the coming weeks and do it differently. But it's just an instinct thing that I've done for a long period and something that I now need to change.

"I have to do it differently, I need to find a new way to protect myself and get out of that habit, if you like, of putting my knee up. I need to turn to the side or whatever."

I am not much help here (although I did watch the game). The coverage mentioned that he was perhaps injured (and subbed), but I can''t recall them actually confirming what (if anything) was wrong with him, or whether he just got dragged due to performance. From memory, I don't think concussion was even considered by the commentators.

Yeah right, been doing it for years, "not my intention... to hurt the other person" think you would've worked out before 7 years that people were getting corkys from it.

Who cares about people getting corkeys? What are we, 13 year old girls? Talk about a storm in a teacup.

Haha how would you feel if every swan this weekend met potential contact with a raised knee corking the entire Hawthorn team?

(I'm assuming you're a hawks supporter)

I understand your need to defend any Hawks player that gets criticized (as would every loyal supporter) but I don't think the above is something nice to be said to Drew who has a point.

Honestly, I don't see Mitchell as a dirty player, or no more than any other player anyway. I do see him getting dumped off the ball plenty of times, and the occasional cheap shot from an opposition player.

It is in the eye of the beholder though - there are plenty of players I would views as 'dirty' that others wouldn't. I detested MLloyd, maybe it is a Hawks v Essendon thing though ;)

Yeah i've never considered Mitchell to be an especially dirty player (no more than any other player similar to PC) but i think raising the knee is not in the spirit of the game. But there a whole LOT of things i don't think are in the spirit of the game which continue to go on so I wouldn't be taking it personally if i was in the Mitchell camp on this one.

Anyway, i think we can put this one to rest, Sammy by his own omission said it's not a good look and will work on different techniques to protect himself.

lol not meant to be a personal attack on Drew, just a general comment to anyone who is up in arms about this whole corking business. It's a corkey for goodness sakes!

How would I feel this week? I would honestly hope that my players were hard enough to not give a rats backside about something as minor as a corkey. I said it a few times, if there was a danger of serious injury, or if he chose to raise his knee and got him in the gonads / stomach / face then i agree. He's chosen to do something sketchy and caused harm, so he should be suspended. Corkeys just seem so minor to me. He's also not seeking people out, and i guarantee he's not the only player who delves into grey areas to try and hurt his opponent. It really doesn't bother me one bit. To me it's in the same category as standing on someones foot, punching them in the arm or pinching them. Yes, it's unsportsmanlike, but they are grown men playing a contact sport so I would expect they are used to having their legs banged up a little bit.

Having said that, Fyfe's front on spoil on Djureya didn't bother me either - even if it was deliberate and late. It didn't bother me in the 2008 when Hodgey went into the game with broken ribs and people tried to rough him up before the opening bounce. Do you know what he did? Held his arms up in the air and let them hit him clean in the ribs. That's what you want to see, hardness (not the punching). It's not a big deal!

Ask yourself this question - if the Taylor Walker incident had not happened earlier this year, would this have even been looked at? My honest opinion - no chance in hell.

Have you ever tried to play a game out with a corky in your leg?? If it's a bad one you can barely run & considering how much AFL players run it can make a huge difference. I'm not saying he was deliberately doing it but it's good to see he's changing his instinct.

And what sethlad said is spot on, all junior AFL kids watch the games so closely & try to mirror whatever the AFL players do

I'm hearing David Swallow may have a serious knee injury. Something is going in there. Trying to confirm @superfooty
