FREMANTLE INJURY UPDATE

Nat Fyfe has been eased back into pre-season training as he recovers from the broken leg he suffered in the preliminary final loss to Hawthorn.
He had surgery to repair the fractured fibula in his left leg the day after he won the Brownlow Medal.
Fyfe said he had received some positive news from the doctor last week.
"I'm in pretty good health."
"I had a doctor's scan on Tuesday and got the full tick off from him, so I'll go back into training and build towards Christmas."
Fyfe did some light running and kicking at his first session back at the club on the 1st of December, but he spent most of Monday's main training session in the gym.

Sydney forward Lance Franklin's return has been halted after being booked in for finger surgery.

Franklin has been hampered by a finger injury since returning to training after battling mental health issues.

“(The injury) is bothering him with marking and tackling work that he’s been doing this pre-season,” said the club’s head physiotherapist and rehabilitation coordinator, Matt Cameron.

“There’s a little bone spur irritating the nerve and the tendon isn’t quite working properly.

“He’ll go in for an operation this week to tidy it up. We’ve timed it so he’ll be right by January.”

- Luke Parker has already joined the main group for full training as he recovers from his ankle injury.
- Kieren Jack (knee) and Sam Reid (hamstring) have been completing modified training sessions and should re-join the squad in mid-January.

Oh no Joel Selwood is on a restricted program until after Christmas because of a foot problem

The fact that he pretty much lied about it last week should make everyone really nervous. By lied I mean saying his whole body was sore after a tough season and he was just easing into it. Foot injuries are cancerous to Supercoach scores!
Yes this is of concern, but the good news is that we know about it now and not after the season starts.

Plenty of fish in the sea as the saying goes ;)

GEELONG skipper Joel Selwood will be on light duties until after Christmas after the club revealed he had a foot problem.

Cats football manager Steve Hocking said the problem emerged for the midfield star when he went for a couple of runs while overseas on his break.

He that as soon as the Cats recognised plantar fasciitis was causing the soreness they restricted Selwood to ensure he overcame the problem before getting back into full training.

Hocking told the Geelong Advertiser the interruption wasn't a major concern.

"He had a run on the weekend and he'll continue to build up from here and look to get back into things post-Christmas," Hocking said.

"It's just one of those things, you've just got to wait for it to settle down."

Meanwhile Selwood's brother Scott is recovering well from ankle surgery while midfielder Mitch Duncan, who had an injury interrupted 2015, is also on the improve after minor surgery near the Achilles tendon.

Edit: whoops, didn't notice the links were already posted. Oh well, I'll leave the article here anyway.
