Z Merret Vs S Gray Vs T Greene
Merret for me. He's currently in my team as I'm tipping him for a good season. He's coming into that traditional break out third year and he showed he has what it takes last year. Just needs to establish a spot in the midfield for himself over the preseason.

Thanks mate, was thinking the same way. Hopefully he is a good POD

I like Greene out of that bunch as he has shown already that he can average 100. I'm thinking that with no Treloar it will result in more midfield minutes for him thus increasing his scores.

I also like Z Merrett and I reckon he will increase his average this year. Will he average enough to be a forward keeper? Well I'm hoping so!

I have no interest in Sam Gray.

Thanks Ben, it's a tough one. At the moment I'm leaning towards merrett but Greene is only just behind. We will need to see how they both go in pre season I guess. If Greene gets a fair bit of midfield time and averages 100+ I will most likely grab him as I feel GWS will win more games

Zorko v T Green.
Both shouldn't cop much attention. Green a little hard to predict. Will be watching his every move in the pre season games

Zach Merret does look interesting.

Can I ask IDIG + Essendon supporters, what is the Essendon starting midfield - and who are the first rotations into that midfield.

Anyone looked at Trent McKenzie Gold Coast?

Rioli v Barlow

The more i think about picking Barlow the more unsure i get. He really dropped off last year.
Hawks ageing midfield, Less interchanges......could mean longer stints in the midfield for Rioli if they think his body can handle it.
20 games last year and only cracked the tone 6 times. Highest score being 120. Not setting the world on fire those stats.
He did have 8 games in the 90's to be fair.
Interesting...

Barlow.

Rioli is just too injury prone.

I reckon Z.Merrett will be in that starting midfield a lot more this year as an inside midfielder. Dons don't really have any inside mids as quick as him.
Core Group: Jobe Watson, Dyson Heppell, Goddard, Zac Merrett, Heath Hocking, Zaharakis, Myers, Ben Howlett
Rotators: Stanton (more halfback this year), Bird, Colyer, Fantasia, Laverde (Reserves (IMO): Cooney, J.Merrett, Darcy Parish)

I like Z Merrett but he definitely needs to improve his ball use. He is a terrible kick but pound for pound the best tackler in the competition. More confident that he'll be a quality DT option next season.

He's actually rated as one of the Don's best kicks going inside 50! Might tell you more about the quality of the Dons other mids though (or how poorly they went last season). But I agree that he could be more of a DT pick because of the tackling.

I don't want to pump him up too much, i still think he won't quite make it to top 6-10 averaging players this season.

Elliot Yeo vs. Brodie Smith?

Dylan Shiel vs. Ollie Wines?
Smith. He's done it before, and should improve if he doesn't get concussed. Yeo should benefit from a role mix change, but he averaged around 92-3 (on my count) in his mid games, so you'd be assuming no time down back at all for Yeo, just to match Smith's All Australian season. I think WC have traded for a couple of players who will take some mid time as well. Smith is also cheaper, slightly older, more experienced, seemingly more durable and was a slightly higher draft pick. Yeo is just outside my top 4 defs, with Smith inside at the moment.

Wines, given his SC pedigree (very similar to Selwood in the stats, from memory) and a slightly lower price. I investigated Shiel after BomberSam had him in his draft side and he is a more viable pick than I appreciated, with meaningful TOG upside and Treloar gone. Personally, I see no great need to pick these sorts of players this year though - I'd go another fallen ultra premium (there are about six in my view) or a Libba/JOM/Crouch type, in that order. Good luck.

From memory he has one of the best draft camp kicking results ever recorded. I think..

J. Selwood vs. JPK?
I think they will average similarly so why not save 30k to spend elsewhere by going with Selwood.

I agree, Selwood. I would prefer him even at the same price, although I would plan to end with both of them. One argument for JPK would be that often you can pick up Selwood somewhat cheap because he has slow periods - although this year he is starting at a discount to his normal level.

This is an interesting one. I think Zorko is less popular than he should probably be, but currently prefer Greene (who I have at F4). I think he could benefit from Treloar's departure/a bounce back to prior highs, whereas Zorko is priced at historic highs, and may get less mid time with fewer injuries at Brisbane this year.

Remember also that Greene is about $100k cheaper than Zorko. The downside on Greene is something I read the other day where the coach (I think) said that he expected him to play more time forward next year. I know coaches aren't to be trusted, but I didn't like the sound of that.
