JPK and Wines or T Mitchell and Sloane.
The let's give these two young exciting guns a run says the later, the ox is slow and the moon is long (whatever Malthouse said) says the first. Bit more fun the later I reckon.
What do you think?
JPK and Wines for me!

I have no interest in any of Simpkin, Anderson or Wells or any players around that 200 - 250k mark. This is mainly due to the structure of my side that I am very happy with. I also think these players are priced like that for a reason and I highly doubt that any will be keepers so essentially they are just expensive rookie priced players which I'm not a fan of.

Libba is a lock for me if he plays round 1. I am hoping he averages enough to be a keeper at M8/M9. I will also very likely pick one of Crouch or O'Meara but not both. At this stage I have Crouch in my team and if he plays round 1 then I expect him to stay there. I am expecting Crouch and O'Meara to average around 100 and be stepping stones to fallen mid premiums or even to premiums on other lines using DPP.

Out of the first lot, it's a no to all of them for me. I'll be looking at just getting a cheap rookie equivalent.

Out of the second group, Libba first for me. Then if JOM is playing all preseason games and doing well, it would be him second. But not sold on the fitness of JOM and Crouch from the reports. So Libba by a distance.

Cheers fellas, similar to you guys i'm planning to run a GnR forward line as well but am putting together a bunch of what-if scenarios.

Crouch for me is a lock, am reading really good things about him and expecting him to be a great pick (famous last words).

Wells of the 3 mid pricers I think. More likely to come out with a few back to back 90+ to get the price up quick before he breaks down. Undoubtedly the most talented of the 3 but age and bad legs are really the only worry with him. Scoring potential is very solid.

Like the others said Libba by a country mile in front or JOM and Crouch. Currently have none of them in my side though. For what it's worth I think if Crouch stays fit hell out score Sloane this year, sky's the limit for him if his body holds up.

By that do you mean you expect Sloane to drop somewhat or Crouch to just score that well?

I watched Crouch play a fair bit for West Adelaide in The SANFL in 2012 and as much as I hate it being a Port supporter, this kid really could be anything if his body holds up. As high as JOM was rated I think Crouch has more raw talent. His constant injuries are the big "if" he's done multiple hamstrings and most recently stress fractures in his foot. I'm not sure how much you know about stress fractures but they're potentially career ending sometimes they just never come good. To have them at his age doesn't bode well.

Not a great kick but he has that "Pendlebury" about him where the game just seems to slow down around him whenever he gets the ball. If the crows dev coaches mould him in a Priddis type mould to look for handballs first I really think hes going to be Elite. Honestly can not rate him high enough.

As for Sloane I think he'll drop back a bit with repeated tags, getting tagged a couple games a year isn't the same thing as week in week out. He'll still score well and have some big games, but I think we'll se some more sub 100 scores then he traditionally puts up. Plus I think the Crows will slide out the top 8 this year with the loss of their best player and one of the 3 worst fixtures going.

IDIG's thread about Dangerfield has piqued my interest in him, especially after reading some of the poster's arguments FOR picking Danger.

So I could bring him in without stuffing my structure BUT it would mean that I would be picking a couple of defenders that I am not as confident in and are considerably cheaper.

So Danger, Smith & Yeo v Wines, Laird & Simpson?

Wines, Laird & Simpson for me. Although I'm not sold on any crows defender until I see how they structure up in the NAB. Players like Simpson are Gold in lines I have trouble picking, what you see is what you get. Not enough clarity on Yeo and Smith roles to pick them with confidence.

Wines combo easily for me.

I have danger but downgraded McVeigh to rookie to do it. You are set on your structure so don't stain it with players your not comfortable with.

Option one for mine except I am not sold on Yeo personally. That said, not sold that Simpson is a great pick either. I reckon don't get too stuck on premium defenders like Simpson because there are cheaper options like Smith who are more than capable of matching him. Plus Simpson is one who always drops to $400Kish from memory. Nice, easy upgrade target.

Is there some other way of scrounging the money other than Laird-->Yeo? I think Simpson-->Smith is a bit of a no-brainer really. I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid Smith BTW. I expect him to be a popular pick and so the risk is lowered.

and the reward greater if he's not a keeper and stagnates in people's teams.

Well said Big Russ. If Crouch stays fit will go 100+

I'm quite bullish on Wells. He's clearly risky in an injury sense, but he's very cheap, and essentially I see him as a dear rookie with excellent JS, high scoring history, and a great early draw. I will almost certainly start him unless he's unfit. After that I think it's daylight. I currently have Simpkin, but that's largely based on other people's views, and I don't like those picks as a general rule. He is a strong chance to be cut if I need cash or if he shows any signs of injury, role uncertainty, etc. No interest in anyone else at around this price. As Ben said, most players in this price range are there for a reason, although I am not averse to sifting a fair bit to find the potential gold nuggets.

Libba is a lock for me. I think he's a viable M8, and even if he underperforms that, he should help make a fast start and facilitate an upgrade. Ridiculous value in my view. A bit like Sandi a few years ago - to me he's a premium with a huge discount, not a speculative mid-pricer. The other two are not premiums, although obviously both have a lot of potential. I think both are clearly stepping stones, at least for the purposes of my planning. I favour JOM largely because he is more durable and he has outperformed Crouch in both years they have played. To me the ordering of those two is clear if they are similarly fit, so I've been watching the ups and downs of that to determine my final call. I wouldn't mind having JOM as a POD vs Crouch assuming they both start fit, albeit that I'll happily replace JOM with Crouch if the former doesn't get up. The only other one around this price that has had serious consideration from me is Leuey, and a bit has changed there recently for the worse.

I personally prefer option one, because it gives you two players I think will be top line keepers (Danger and Smith v just Simpson).

With that said, I don't think Danger is worth changing up three positions for. He's priced at 120 and few can back that up (I think it might be four players, ever??) plus it's the best he's done in his career, and he's going to be playing in a new (but perhaps no better) side. I was very keen on him last year priced at 106, but this year I see him as an upgrade target. I certainly wouldn't take Smith and Yeo (if you see them as sub-par picks) just to start with Danger.
