Just on Sam Gray.... while DE is clearly important in SuperCoach I think hitting targets is lot more profitable.
A long kick (40+ metres) to a contest will be regarded as an effective kick, Gray did lots of this but I don't remember seeing him hit someone on a lead or someone in forward 50.
