Looking ahead to next week with Kommer getting 70 as the emergency will probably take that, put donut on field and viney can sit on bench but in defence i,ve got goodes , pittard ,stevenson ,terlich one of which will get the (e). Goodes will play first so probably should give him the (e) but i think he might score better than the other 3. Hope i,m making sense any way should i put him on bench and then if he scores more than 70 go with him or just keep kommers score.

This is probably something really simple but i'm a little confused. I put the VC on Cox (for the captain's loophole), and the C on Crouch (non-playing player) and have O'Meara as Emergency to cover for non-playing player Crouch. Obviously Cox's score of 96 isn't enough to keep Couch on ground, making Cox take the double captain's points so I logged onto Supercoach site just now to change the C from Crouch to a captain of my choice but it is not letting me. Am I missing something? Worried i'm stuck with Cox getting the Captain's points, it still has the C on Crouch which I want to change to say Ablett or Swan (the whole point of using the Captain loophole for the double chance) but not allowing me to. Appreciate some help. Thanks.

You took away your so called double chance when you put the C on a player from a club that had already played. The loophole exist only when you leave your options open for who you put the captain on from a player of club that has not played a game yet. and the loophole is you put the VC on a likely high scorer in an early game of round,,, example Dean Cox and if he score really high and you want to get double his score you then make sure you put the C on a player in your squad from a club that has *not* played a game yet and you *know* the player will not play... example Stevie J from Geelong if you wanted him in your squad for season and you name him in your 22 and make sure a bench player plays and scores for you as a replacement for him in your final team for round but the C on Stevie J stays but the double points for round goto VC player that played...if Cox had scored a monster score last night that is what I probably would have done

LolRicho has been drafted - Jay you are a far smarter man than I, and I now think I see your reasoning and logic. Pity I put Brown on the field instead of as an E.

Question - this is probably academic this early in the season, but when is best to be thinking about getting rid of the donut floater? Is he the last guy to get the boot as an upgrade? Once the rookies are sorted? Just before the byes?

I'm glad to see you why the Floating Donut is important (for some people).

L.Brown and Kommer were free hits. I don't have L.Brown, so I'll use my free hit with B.Goodes next week.

Yep, it is a pity Melbourne are playing Port this round - that reduces the options somewhat.

After 2 or 3 months to ponder and work out my floating donut I have come back to Sam Dwyer.
Neade, Prudden and a number of others were also considered but the very first player Jay mentioned in his articles regarding the Floating Donut Strategy is the guy I will be going with.:D

I know this has been covered before, but this sort of loophole has to go next year.

Hmmm, an extra $19k versus not as many chances to use the strat. Collingwood do have a number of Friday night games, which is a shame.

Doesn't the North players fit your Floating Donut. Dwyer is nice value too.

Agree, but I don't think Herald Sun can stop it with the Rolling LockOut.

Agree, but Goodies might have different rookies...and the extra dosh could come in handy...

With the players I want to use for the loophole Dwyer is a better option than Neade of Port Adelaide.
For the first 4 weeks Dwyer works for me in every instance, rounds 5 and 6 he doesn't but I should be able to work out a reverse floating donut for those rounds.

The extra cash he gets me allows for Kane Mitchell to come into my midfield, overall I think Dwyer works well for me but maybe not for others depending on structure and the players that they want to use for the loophole.

Nah, price wise Dwyer is cheaper and his draw favours the guys I am wanting to use as my VC and C.
As I mentioned allows me to get Kane Mitchell back in as well.
Pretty much set my side in stone now, just hope selections go my way.

After highly considering the floating donut strat, I'm not going to follow through with it because I think the best structure is to have 5 Premium mids + Moloney, with Wines and O'Meara. The vast majority of teams will have to play O'Meara and Wines every week, so I don't think I'm losing anything on them.

My own opinion, but I think it's going to be pretty hard trying to trade in those extra midfielders as they can cost around 100-150k more than Defensive/Fwd Premiums. I find it better to try load up on them and look for fallen defenders, forwards and rucks.

Running 3 rookie defence as a result, but not going to use a floating donut in defence either. Would prefer extra coverage.

Technically I do have a floating donut in Sinclair to connect with Cox in the rucks, but that one will only be used for the Captain loophole when possible.

Still don't reckon he will get many games so not over ally worried, yet to be honest more excited that there is at least another FWD rookie that might/possibly/probably not get a game. LOL:p

Ben Speight? LOL yes I know Goodies needs the Pies fixture and the extra $19K.

I'm still deciding on Speight (FWD/MID) or lolRicho (MID/DEF), but Terlich not named has thrown a small spanner! on which Floating Donut to use.

Dwyer is fighting with Krakouer, Didak, Fasolo and Kennedy for that small forward role and they are all behind in preparation but ahead in the pecking order. And he's already behind the small forwards who got named on the field ahead of him. Like Frost, very low JS.

That said, I think he's been getting better with every game, what limited he has had at NAB level, so could improve enough to go past some of his competition but only Sinclair, Elliott and Kennedy probably.

I'm liking the floating donut in the back line. My guts is telling me to go with Colquhoun. I had him in the middle so swung him back and brought Goodes into the middle and I have Luke Brown on the bench just in case. That said, I have 7 Port rookies now. I might need to re-think that part of it lol.

I'm thinking it might be more efficient to go Speight over CamRicho with Terlich omission. Frost should be named but I'm not too keen on him and rather load up on Port Adelaide defenders (Heath, Pittard, Stevenson + Goodes)

Lets assume you have Neade/Caff on forward bench F7/F8. If you use Speight/Neade floating donut combination, Caff won't be wasted on bench because you can use the emergency with the forward mid pricers (Karnezis/Varcoe/JJK/Byrnes/Harper/Siposs/etc).

Also wouldn't surprise me if Neade turns into a floating donut after 3-4 rounds, so if you have Speight at least Neade won't be stuck in the forwards.

Thoughts Jay?
