So if we all have Cameron at R3 does anyone know who the best FD becomes?

Jackson Ross (Haw) $117,300 M/F and Jack Petruccelle (WC) $117,300 M/F jump out without much research.
The Melboure boys. Spargo if you want a MID/FWD or Smith if you want a DEF/MID. Both a chance to play later in the season too.

How do people think the Naismith injury affects Heeney, Parker and JPK? I think they could be one injury away from being at a real risk that their midfielders will suffer. However, you could say the same about Hawthorn, Brisbane and Richmond.

I still don't think Cameron would play based on his form last week, looked terrible. They won't play him just because he's tall if he can't contribute.

Geez couldn't you at least give us a few hours of joy before you burst our bubble?

Nah...McGovern will fill that void like a duck to water!
he has openly said he wants to ruck , he may well get his chance , need to contact LITS and GFB do get the latest on the WCE ruck situation.

McInnes also a chance.
Unsure if Nic Nat will play this week. He still has a WAFL practice match he can also play in next weekend. So no one really knows if he will play Round 1 or not. I suspect he will.

Lycett has got through 2 matches now and will play this weekend so no change there. He will play Round 1.

The news on Vardy is worse than first thought after an update today... So sounds like it might take 6 weeks to heal, then longer to get back into shape and match ready.

Vardy facing lengthy recovery

West Coast big man Nathan Vardy will be sidelined for at least the next month after scans revealed his groin injury is worse than expected.

The 26-year-old went to ground following a ruck contest in the final quarter of the Eagles’ practice match against Fremantle at Lathlain Oval and required assistance from trainers to leave the field.

General manager of football Craig Vozzo said Vardy had suffered a tear to his abductor muscle.

The scans and doctor’s prognosis is probably a little bit worse than we’d first expected; he’s going to take some time to recover,” Vozzo said.

“We’re thinking it’s probably a month to six-week injury, but we’re not really going to know until he starts healing and then we start taking him through each phase of the recovery process.”

Although the injury was the low-point of Sunday’s hit-out, Vozzo found a silver lining.

“The positive thing is it’s not a structural injury and he’s suffered some pretty significant structural injuries over time,” he said.

“He’s also well-equipped from a mental point of view to get through periods in rehab, so he’s quite upbeat actually.

“He’s quite relieved in the sense that it’s a setback but not a season-ending setback, which he’s experienced in the past.”

McGovern can give a chop-out in the ruck, But with Eric Mackenzie out for quite a while with foot problems and Tom Barrass nursing a sore wrist, He is very much needed down back. So McInnes might just get a call up if Nic Nat fails to get up for round 1.

Bad news for your boys LITS but this all but locks in Lycett for me now.

Yeah I've had Lycett locked for ages now, But I do have more faith in him then a lot of others do.

It might take until near mid season for Vardy to start putting his hand up for selection again.

Another thing with Lycett is this is a contract year. He is in the last year of a pretty healthy 4 year deal in which he has hasn't produced what he would have liked due to last years injuries. At 26... He will want to make the most of his next contract, So the motivation to have a big year is there.

He looked like a ruckman who's nowhere near a senior game, which is exactly what he'll be until Sinclair gets injured or needs a break. If Josh Walker beats you in the ruck and Dean Towers looks more effective, you're not going to play.

Tom Harley was quoted as saying Sinclair has a minor ankle sprain and will be ready for round 1. If that's accurate, chances are Sinclair could've played on it last week without too many issues.

Longmire has mentioned previously that he might get Alir Alir to pinch hit in the ruck and other positions. Should be interesting.

From Afl website 30/1/18

OUT-OF-FAVOUR Swan Aliir Aliir shapes as a possible replacement for retired tall Kurt Tippett, with the Swans considering trialling the key defender as a support ruckman.

How about when I tracked his games in the past where he was solo ruck or clear 1st ruck he ave 100? Mind you there have not been many games where that scenario applied. He was always in the shadow of Cox, NicNat or someone else.

Brad Hill injured his quad at training and is in doubt for round 1.

Don't want this to come across the wrong way but I feel like aboriginal players seem to be more prone to soft tissue injuries and often struggle to put 22 games together. Anyone else think this or am I crazy?
