I remember having 20 trades, then 24 trades then 30 when the byes got brought in. It is trending one way, more site traffic and appeal for the masses could be the reason.

With 20 trades I would really be wanting the AFL to revert to a split round (22 round) format rather than multibye round (23 round) format, or the "best 15" multibye scoring mentioned earlier in the thread.
Yep, the more site traffic, the more revenue they make from their advertisers (I'm pretty sure that how it works).

I personally enjoy the excitement in trading and I would love 2 trades every week :)

As has been written above the tension is that we more, ahem, obsessive players would like rules that make SC harder and more interesting, whereas they're looking for rules that make it more accessible and generate more traffic.

I think any more than 30 trades would make it way too easy but I wouldn't mind being allowed to use up to 3 per round (and maybe up to 4 through the byes). I think it would sucker some into reckless trading (I'm looking in the mirror here) but would also reward aggression and might reduce the bad luck element when things all strike at the same time.

I played AFLF properly for the first time this season and even though I don't like the never-ending trades (particularly now that most teams are complete or nearly complete) it is somewhat o***et by the high price of the rookies and the fact price changes start after one game. It definitely makes it harder to generate cash and rewards good judgment on rookies and new players. In SC, because you can wait for the bubble, often there really is only one or two realistic options to downgrade to and it does take away the skill of picking the right ones. I definitely wouldn't mind SC being made harder in that regard - rookies starting a bit more expensive and their prices changing after the first game.

I’d quite like to see 20 trades.
20 trades places more emphasis on the starting team and makes it harder to trade up the rankings. I would like to see 36 trades with 3 each week and 4 during the byes which would bring stepping stones and slingshots more into play and allow good bye planning to have a bigger influence.

Now that I think about it I think I've been planning and playing a game more suited to more trades. :-(

Where does Preuss end up and how much will he be? Saints, Geelong and GWS seem to be struggling to find a ruck set up they can stick with. I think he would get pushed out of the Bulldogs once English is mature enough. Or does he just stay and wait for Goldstein to age which means he doesn't play regular AFL for a couple more years.

Good question. I don't really understand these clubs that don't have a proper ruck setup ... seems a bit negligent to me. You'd have to think that Geelong or GWS would be pretty appealing clubs to go to, given their lists and midfields.

The other change I would like to see is a minimum time on ground (or % TOG) before a score counts or alternatively a minimum % TOG before his price in reduced in case of an injury. If a player is injured early in the game and takes no further part there is a double hit as his score is minimal and his price drops. Way too severe that double penalty.

Like this a lot and TOG is a good way to measure it. Pure bad luck if you have a player go down in the first half and it can make or break someones season.

Don’t mind it, but only for your C.

Under a % tog you get your VC score.

Preuss has demonstrated his frustration at North in the press this week. He understands that Goldstein's form is keeping him out, but he'll move on for more opportunities at the end of this season. Should be a good option for S'coach next season.

This would probably over complicate the game but in EPL DT, a player's ownership affects the player's price. As the player's ownership goes up so does their price...and vice versa.

It's a live adjustment because you aren't able to reverse trades (99% sure) so wouldn't work with SC but if it could be somehow incorporated into SC, i reckon it would be pretty cool!

In other words, you're rewarded for taking PODs.

I've often thought that this would change things enormously - but I don't think I'd like to see it for SC (where the pricing works well as it is, in my view). I wouldn't mind if this applied for one of the other formats, like DT or AF, though.

As an aside, maybe using ownership % to determine price could work well for one of the comps run on this site??

I would like to see another way to obtaining the captains score. I don’t mind the 1.5x for VC to prevent loopholing, but I still think you could be at a great disadvantage if you copped an unfortunate early injury to either your C or VC. I really like the minimum TOG suggestion, and think that could be a great solution. Maybe another way is picking a C & VC and you get whoever scores higher x2? Therefore you have cover if one cops bad luck and you could still watch a round unfold against your opponents before locking in your second choice.

If we're on improvements in gameplay, I wouldn’t mind seeing a cash boost option (could even be paid, say $5?), could be 3x $100k boosts, max use of one in the preseason and one per round. They would also appreciate in value, say after round four or five and increase by $5/k a round for as long as you hold them. This would add some interesting elements to the tactical side of things.

I think the easiest way for the Herald Sun to boost traffic would be to provide live SC scores for free.

The other formats already do it, and it would eliminate the issue with other positive changes being held back in the interest of increasing traffic.

I would still be happy to pay for SC Gold separately.

I agree with this. I'm not sure how much they're actually making from the live scores subscriptions but anyone who takes SC serious enough to want to follow the scores would know how to get them without paying for them.

If they want the more casual players to spend more time on SC during matches, the best way would be for them to be able to follow live scores for their league matches, which most non-overall focused players care about (stating the obvious there lol).

Gresham and Milera as spec picks next year.
Milera has looked good coming off the back flank the last few weeks , does he stay there though with Smith back ?

Always think Crows are 1 tall too many in defence and need Brown , Laird , Smith + 1 to give them run and carry , so maybe Milera and/or Seedsman
