I'm still trying to work out this "extra free space" equation.

To me with the play on from behinds rule logic says the field actually got 15m shorter ... and probably faces more congestion as teams look to block up the wings as the most obvious kick in destinations .... taking a shorter pin point option and opening up the corridor is what I'd be seriously looking at ...
totally agree , a lot of people seem to have this idea that 6-6-6 is going to work for the whole game and players are going to be nice and stand next to each other , report I read on another site said it took Hawthorn 30 seconds to get there free man defence setup.

long kick from the square to 50-70 will result in where the massive wall will be set-up , suspect teams will set up similar to soccer in 2-3 waves moving back , forward , sideways.

think most goals are caused from turnovers so yes they may go a 40-45 kick then go corridoor or try a quick switch.

haven't seen a game yet , but still stand by the statement umpire the game correctly and the congestion will clear.

Fingers crossed the AFL have got it right or the next rule will involve more lines on the ground.

Yeah mate, its been a great off-season for us Eagles fans, not so much for your guys, but I know that feeling you have from losing 2015.

Yeo has ramped up his training in the last few weeks, played a fair chunk of the infra club match last week and playing a bit today, so I don't expect it to have any impact on the regular season.

Petrucelle would by my choice after his summer, especially with Cripps likely to miss the start of the season. Once Cripps is back though it might come down to current form but I think at this stage he starts round 1.

Watson another big improver, glad to see him get a shot in this strong JLT team but not sure their is a spot for him with Shepard coming back into the premiership team. Should get opportunities during the year though.

Smith another who has done nothing wrong over the summer but it's not easy to break into a Premiership team with only 1 or 2 spots up for grabs. Was brought over pretty much as a top up player to add experience to our new WAFL team, so his excellent summer has beeen a real bonus and should crack a few games if injuries happen.

Expect us once again to run with 2 rucks and Bardy and Hickey will be the two. Latest on Nic Nat is he's aiming for about round 10ish for his return.
Don't remind me hahahaha

Of all the GF losses this is the one that will hurt the most , Beamer is back to lead us to the promised land ? (unless Bucks let's his ego in the way)

Just working through my premium options and Yeo was next on my list.

Been reading a few good things about Petrucelle so I guess it is up to him to make it hard for Simmo to drop him.

Will keep an eye Watson.

Thanks will let you watch the game.

Cheers

newman went alright last night
I think he did alright .. some intercept marks and lucky to see any ball in the first half as CAR made mince meat of what ESS put on offer at centre bounces .... too early to tell though .... looks to be the right player in the right team at the right time so far ...

What makes you think Clark will make way for Touey...if Clark is selected rd1
Heard Touhy is injured , might be his spot he takes.

Bews missing tonight , Kolo playing.

Blicavs , Henderson , Stewart , Taylor named so 5 out of their preferred 7 from last season playing tonight.

Geelong haven’t been comfortable with Bews/Murdock/Thurlow/Zuthrie through defensive positions last few seasons so I think a spot would be available.

Definitely looks like he belongs and putting the pressure on the match committee and his teammates with this kind of performance.
Interesting to think about ... not sure where I read it but teams rarely go back-to-back without at least 8 changes .... not saying it's right or that I beleive in it ... just food for thought ... but they already brought in some new faces last year which kinda makes it a scary equation in some ways ...
