I like this side a lot ... sets us all up well for the loophole options early on and plenty of scope to go down our own separate paths from round 2 onwards ... would still need to confirm C, VC and E's prior to the commencement of round 1 .... nice job mate IMO :)
Usually with a locked in team of 30 the decision on C, VC and Emg is up to each coach and there can be some big differences if someone benches a rookie who scores 90 and other teams play them.

Over time the major difference is still trading but as with regular Fantasy/SC Captain and bench choice can make a difference between teams that trade equally well.

I quite like the idea that we start first round with same rookies, Es and Cs, so that we all have exact same score and know we're on the same page, and then free-for-all from there.

But see the merit in the other way, and happy to go with that too.

RE locking in a starting team:

There will be no changes that need to be made between team lists on Thursday night and the start of the RIC v CAR game.

But if RIC and CAR players are locked on Wednesday after their teams are named, are people happy to commit to logging in some time before the game starts Thursday to get them right, and then final team locked after teams on Thurs and people just have to make sure to log on before game starts Friday night to finalise.

Does that suit?

I agree with this. I really like the idea of exactly same team, captain and EMGs round 1 giving us all the exact same score.

Does the starting squad have to be the same or the starting side? I.e. will we all score the same in R1?

Wasn't the whole idea we all have the same squad , including the same 22 onfield and C , VC & E for Round 1 ?

EDIT

Just re-read Diabolical's opening post , that is what was first suggested and agreed upon.

We all have the same score after Round 1 then can do what we like.

If anyone is late to the party or is thinking of trying AFL Fantasy and wants to run with the starting side we are going with in this comp, I have set up an open group that you can join.

League Code: DZRMRUED

Many of the coaches in this comp will also be part of this group as well.

All we ask, if you do join the group, please make sure you set your starting team to the one we come up with here.

Interested in peoples thoughts ...

Keep looking at Butters and his JS / team role and would prefer Cousins ...

- Cousins should have the MID role, scoring ability and potentially better JS
- Butters looks to have that small FWD role and unknown JS with Wines yet to come back in and plenty of other options ...
- Prefer my on field MIDs to actually be playing in that position
- If Butters was listed as a FWD only option I doubt I'd even consider him at his price in this format

To make it happen could mean say Whitfield down to a Crisp, Hurn, Witherden type.

- Prefer Crisp out of that lot but not totally sold
- Think he has a clearly defined role in a good team and should finish top 6-8 in his position if he stays healthy.
- Why Whitfield .. think he generally scores in bursts and is a potential shut down target ...

Just thinking out aloud for now ... happy with our current team but just seeing if tinkering around the edges can improve it.

I might be wrong, however I didn't get the impression that Butters was playing the small FWD role. I thought he played higher up the ground and Rozee was more locked forward. Of the four rookies, I get the feeling that Butters has the best JS with Drew and Duursma being candidates to be omitted for WInes.

Dunno TBH ... got the impression Butters played MID in JLT 1 and FWD in JLT 2 .... given most teams have Drew (FWD) and Duursma (DEF) in those actual positions I keep looking at Butters v Cousins ...

So looking at this great post of CBA's ... but these are pure CBA's and not general stoppages .... I sense a change in team tactics for CBA's ... ie put an additional potential MID on the wing ready to come in .... bit like NFL special teams ...
- JLT 1 > JLT 2 saw a decent decline for Butters as he changed roles from MID > FWD
- JLT 1 > JLT 2 saw a massive decline for Cousins but no drastic increase for anyone else ... haven't looked at TOG though .. still seemed to score OK though ...

I'm not wedded to butters in this format, though I think trying to pick the respective js of him, drew and duursma is too hard to bother with. It just depends on how they go. If we cut him, my preference would he to go down to constable/atkins (or gibbons at a stretch). If all of Scott, constable and Atkins were named, they'd be my picks, but I thought safer to leave it as butters so we don't have to find the money to get up to him.

I'm not sold on cousins (particularly in this format, priced to 45) but I haven't seen much of him so if anyone feels passionately I'm good to explore.

Totally agree ... just tinkering with options ... can always adjust my side round 2 to align with my thoughts ..

I probably prefer locking in a side on Wednesday or earlier if possible.... just to be safe. The premise is that we all start with the same side, I don’t think it’s a big issue if there’s a surprise rookie non selection and we all end up starting them. Just my own thoughts though!

If we leave it too late, someone might inevitably accidentally start a different team.

Sorry guys .. might have to bow out of this comp .... love the concept and all but just realised that this isn't independent of other comps I'm in. Ie this starting line up is set for all leagues and I'd like to make a handful of changes to the current team line ups ... unless I'm missing something in the website ...

Awesome work by @stephen though ... loved it all ...
