I’m far from an expert but I think it’s because he’s playing predominantly forward now. In previous years he spent a lot of time roaming or playing in the ruck but with Dixon out and Ryder/Lycettt fit, he’s been pretty much stuck in the forward line.

His disposals are down about 25% from last year and he’s yet to register a hitout after averaging over 8 last year. I don’t think there’s much to suggest this will change while everyone’s fit and Dixon’s not unfortunately and he’ll be pretty reliant on goals to score well, which does not seem to be the year for it if the way CD are scoring goals is anything to go by.

Interested to hear your thoughts @BigRuss
Hindsight is a wonderful thing for validation, but what is happening with the Hoff is exactly what i said when discussing him with @Darkie in the pre-season. He will get some specific jobs week to week but will play majority as a key forward until Dixon is fit. My mail on Dixon is that hes gone from a back third of the season return to potentially, and almost probably, missing the whole season as we're going to be ultra cautious with him.

That being said, Ports forward line is still a shambles so maybe they can engineer something that releases him somewhat but i just dont see it personally. Hes already bled 113k with another 50-80k over the next few weeks likely. He'd be a firm trade if he were in my side but unfortunately most of the damage is already done.

If Fyfe is out again I might just go Fyfe -> Rockliff and Setterfield -> Marshall to open up my trading account for the year. Don't really want to do this but two weeks out for Fyfe for concussion is concerning and it also removes having to play Parker/Setterfield on field at F6. I'm backing on Marshall becoming a keeper, might not score a ton against Gawn this week but he has looked impressive. Worried that he might not pan out but at this stage I might aswell take a punt to alleviate the poor rookie scores on field.

Rockliff looked really awesome on the weekend and is still under $450k which is still extreme value for someone who is capable of churning out 130+ games regularly.

Ok SCS community! I need your advice.

My team’s flying at the minute and I’m only about 400 off the leader, but not having Whitfield is holding me back.

Which option would you pick?

A) Moore & Williams > Stack and Whitfield
Pros: gets Whitfield early and can loop fwd rookies with Setterfield for a couple of weeks
Cons: moving on 2 solid mid-pricers early and loses DPP

B) Butters>Stack
Pros: Starts building a war-chest for early upgrades
Cons: A return to average for Butters will see his cash generation back on track and will miss out on approx $80k

C) No trades
Pros: Saves a trade
Cons: Won’t close the gap on the front-runners

My biggest concern for you is that you've already used 4 trades and now looking to early exit two of your mid priced options, without getting the cash you'd hope from either. I think you need to convince yourself that that your theory Williams/Moore is broken first before spending trades in this way. You'll be at 24 trades with 14 premos. At a minimum 16 trades to upgrade the remaining 8 and that still leaves you running libba and smith, so lets say 3 trades to get some cash and upgrate them. That's 5 trades left for the season including bye round shenanigans, assuming you don't run a 23rd premo... if you're in a league of any meaning definitely hold, but if it's still pure overall, then consider, but I think you're flying too close to the sun...

Thinking the same. Only thing that's bugging me about the Fyfe talk is that I worry he is just the type of guy that's got a good head on his shoulders, and knows - unlike some footballers - that he needs to be wary of even the slightest of symptoms when talking about concussion. After any concussion - let alone a potentially severe one like his - ANY headaches you get in the following fortnight is meant to be noted, same with head-rushes, dizziness, the works. So it's easy to imagine how so many people, including athletes, can forget about this, say, 10 days after their incident, when they wake up with a morning headache, and not report it to whomever they were meant; that's just part of daily life and you might not think twice about it, after all, you haven't had your morning coffee or whatever it is.

Fyfe seems like the kind of person who wants to maximise his longevity in not only the game, but in life too, and I think he will be as cautious as one should.

So in saying this, will he experience the same relapse footballers have experienced in the past following concussion, or would he just be insisting that these were cases of being underdone, and he won't let the same happen to him. Food for thought.

Don't love trading in Boak at his current price. Getting off Sheed seems a good option at some point though. Hard to know the right moves without seeing your whole team.
Def: Whitfield, hurn, Williams, scrimshaw, duursma, Clark (hore, butts)
Mid: macrae, Cripps, Oliver, crouch, sheed, Libba, Walsh, constable (Atkins, Scott, gibbons)
Ruck: Grundy Gawn (bines)
For: danger, Heeney, Walters, Moore, drew, Parker ( setters, Balta)
93.8k in the bank

Ranked 108th

Not sure on trades as I have only done one, want Boak and Rockliff.
Don’t know whether to get rid of sheed yet

Without seeing the rest of you team, that sounds like a good idea and something I’m considering myself. If you have Moore in your backline and no Hore, that would be another option.
i like it too but then again can do mummy via bines if its important to have and it be out setterfield or balta maybe and stack in for someone . Screen Shot 2019-04-16 at 4.19.18 pm.png

Right now most likely ins for me will be Stack and O'Brien.
Just got to decide if I trade a loophole agent in process or a Gibbons type. Burgess looks gone so will lose my DEF/MID link if I trade him.

Burgess is D/F
Butters is M only
Duursma is D/M

what is in the statue fumes ? ?

I won't bother posting info in the cricket thread anymore for you either hahaha , was keen to read your reaction to the WC Squad and Australia A sides , the way it is going we will have 50 players over there.

Took Walsh until Round 4 to get a Rising Star nomination , those 3 other boys before him must be good ?

Thoughts on passing on Stack and doing the following instead:

Butters -> ROB (via Drew and Bines)
Setterfield -> Marshall

Would mean Bines and Balta on my forward bench as donuts though and Parker on the field at F6 instead of Drew if I were to do Butters and Setterfield to Stack and Marshall

Will ROB make more cash than Stack in a harder position to fill (R3 vs M9).

Can always downgrade to a forward rookie via Bines too after ROB has made me some cash.

Can anyone access the Hs article on Moore being rested? Don't don't know if it's relevant to this week or more throughout the season.

A lot jumping on Marshall. Must be a keeper to get him in now yeah? Can he sustain it? I'm pretty apprehensive.

Also: Setterfield is a bust, isn't he?Think I'll be trading him before any of my current forward rookies, or Moore.
