Didnt actually realise that ROB was priced so cheaply, thought he was in the 300k range for some reason....

I've already gone Darcy > Clarke at the end of round 2...

Am I being wasteful doing

English > Mumford
Butters(or someone similar) > ROB

Would leave me
R: Mumford, ROB (Clarke)

F: (Bines)
Would be three trades down on your ruck line and still no Gawn or Grundy.

Rucks can become a real distraction to upgrading your overall team. I wasted 4 trades in rucks last year and still didn’t finish with Grundy - my year suffered as a result.

I think if you do the above you almost need to be prepared to ride mummy for the year, irrespective of the points loss to whoever of Gawn and Grundy you don’t end up with.

Trades of Setters/Balta to ROB/Hore gives me this. scr5.PNG
Are these trades worthwhile? How good is Hore's JS? Is my bench too weak?

I’m surprised ROB not even top 5 for ‘most traded in’ so far.
Given 50% have Grundy and Gawn and a r/f R3 ROB serves no purpose except to make their teams worse because they'll lose the r/f link. If you're only trading him for $$ then he has to compared against Stack and Hore and others, to decide how to make best use of the trades.

I am looking at all the discussions about trades this week, and I don't have Marshall or Rocky or whoever, and just can't make sense of any of it. I see no value in ROB and I think the boat has been missed on Marshall and Rocky, given really they're both cash grabs in my view. I can't see how they'll keep going at this level for the season. (Rocky maybe a better chance, but history says injuries, or a change in role if Port start losing could come into it).

So for me, this thread is so far off my thinking I can't comprehend it.

Even the rookie trades, I can't see how everyone's thinking of ditching Butters, while people seem to be holding Setterfield even given he's shown little and is out for a couple of weeks.

For me this is a week to either hold, or trade down rookies for $$ or if you're really worried about those forward rookies do one down one up. But no one's made enough money to do that to anyone they want (even to Marshall), so everyone's trying to invent stuff which might hurt them in the long run.

I'll probably swing Moore forward to at least give a bit more passable depth in the forward line and decide whether my team can handle a double down.

If you trade a FWD rookie for ROB by switching your r/f forward then you don’t ‘lose it’, Switch r/f back when you trade ROB.

Plus a $136k sole ruck averaging 84.5 compares very favourably to Stack or Hore and will very likely be one of the top earners for the season.

I would have thought you lose it, until you trade ROB again. So basically it's your assessment of the risks in the short term (where you'd still have ROB coverage) vs the costs of those 2 trades vs the $$gains. In the perfect world you've used 2 trades to facilitate a, say, 170k gain, but never used ROBs points. And then are using those $$ to upgrade a forward.

Thinking maybe..
Parker->Andrews (via Rozee)
Balta->ROB (via Bines)

Rozee fwd means I can play Drew and him at F5/F6 who are at least:sick: a chance of scoring 60+.

I hate having Westhoff but at least if he keep stinking it up Telly could be cheapish.

Agreed. If you like his JS and his ability to keep scoring that.

I can understand somewhat the appeal, particularly if you haven't got Grundy and Gawn, but I don't think it's a lock in "this is the trade you should definitely be doing this week" sort of trade, if that makes sense.

So instead of doing Parker/Butters > Stack/Marshall, I can grab O'Brien/Marshall instead with a bit of DPP shuffling.
Bines to FWD & Setters to MID, obviously no forward bench which makes it a bit risky.

I am not as confident on Marshall as some of you are but fairly confident he will outscore my poorest FWD rookie by quite a bit and he is really the only forward option I can afford at the moment.

Thoughts or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks.

Keeping Crisp hey? 3 fairly bad scores and a horrible BE means he is out of my team while he still has some value. Could possibly swing Moore back and still get Marshall, you may need to end up with Balta on field if you do that though, if Parker isn't named. Probably not worth it, but it's an option...

I must be one of the few who isn’t trading ROB in this week. With all the uncertainty around the FWD rookies due to scoring potential, JS, injuries and suspensions, I just can’t run the risk of moving Bines to F8.
I do not have Bines. I actually have Graham as a POD as he DEF/RUC. My plan was possibly trade Burgess out for ROB by shifting Graham to DEF to loophole there temporarily whilst ROB comes in as cash generating R3. However, like everyone else I now concerned about the forward line this week with Setterfield suspended, if anyone else out like Heeney would be very vulnerable up forward. Keeping Burgess just to shift forward to cover for forward out not really what I want to do so wait and see how teams are dropping tomorrow.

At this stage I expect Heeney to play as my forward and Parker to retain his spot at Saints so still may do my trades as planning but now it is a real wait and see. I may have to alter to trade Setterfield which was not planning to do.

For sure. I guess I'd like to at least get some use out of my cash cows :)
R3 spot is hard to generate cash from. When one shows up, I reckon grabbing that R3 cash cow is worth doing in most cases, not all of course. For me though, that always been in back of my mind if some rookie ruck shows up to make cash I move my present R3 loophole guy to defence and most likely move back to R3 after I cash in the cash cow rookie priced ruck. Or I sacrifice my R3 captain loophole guy outright if I see the R3 cash cow guy of more value long term. But an R3 making money is very appealing, especially in relative terms if others do not make cash there.

Remaining salary: 8,100
Trades left: 28 (Previous 2 were Out: T Greene, M Hore, In: B Smith, J Scrimshaw)

Greatly appreciate thoughts on the preferred option out of the below
1. Hold/No trades
2. Z Butters to R O'Brien (via X Duursma moving to M8, C Burgess moving to D8 and P Bines moving to F8) but no cover until Setterfield returns
3. Z Butters and B Scott to R O'Brien (via above) and M Hore (via C Burgess) thus providing cover until Setterfield returns but involves bringing M Hore back in.
4. B Scott to R O'Brien (via W Setterfield to M9, P Bines to F8) allowing M Parker and C Burgess to be looped.

what am I missing with Stack ? scored 40 against Port without Cotchin, Houli , Martin, Riewoldt all due back.

Richmond with 2 games in 5 days coming up be interesting to see how they pick their team, chance Balta, Ross, Stack etc may only play 1 game
From what I've seen Stack is playing Jayden Short's role. He has passed the eye test big time. Looks a very good player who had to work very hard to get his chance. I'd be dissappointed as a supporter if he didnt hold his spot for the next month.

There’s also no rush to do that Goldy to ROB trade right now. You can park ROB at R3 and see how both Goldy/ROB go. Then later trade Goldy out to a premo if ROB looks okay, might let Goldy increase his price a bit more too after that 60 odd drops out.
Nice manoeuvre which i can accomodate without causing other mischief, thank you kind sir :)
