To dbl downgrade or paint the fence this week..,

Is it too late to bring in Hurn? (rd 13 bye) or should I be safe to bring him in this week (3 games till his bye)?
Traded ROB via Bines back to R3, brought in R Young. Traded Scrimshaw and brought in Hurn, not fussed about bye structure atm.

We just haven’t had the sort of generation as we had last year, and that combined with the amount of overpriced players and lack of value picks has meant it’s been a very hard season. I’ve been making an upgrade 3 weeks in a row now but I’m continuing to slide
The lack of value picks has been a killer.... There hasn’t really been a good value option so far in the mids. Oliver/Merrett at 540-550k were the closest but boats have sailed!

Hear, hear.

Very happy starting R Sloane and Z Merrett as well as only selecting B Grundy and Danger over the 620,000 range this season but the less spoken about Darling and Hoff the better.

Selected Hore , Walsh , Constable , Drew , Duursma , Scrimshaw , Gibbons from the start

Traded out Hore (and Mundy) the same week.

Picked up ROB.

Just highlights again how important the correct rookies are from the start and grab them when the opportunity arises.

Probably goes a part way in explaining my ranking.

Williams , Smith , Sloane , Merrett and to a certain extent Rockliff have probably been outstanding value picks.

Hindsight will tell us Stewart & Boak.

About time we implement a rule to select all Geelong rookies selected RD1 as they've been great over the past 2-3 seasons and for most of us starting G Miers over C Burgess would've greatly improved our current situation. Also Rozee was the only Port rookie I didn't start who also would have made a large difference to now owners like myself.

Miers is the big one that the whole site seemingly passed over.

Rozee I ignored because of price , same as Smith.

No room for Wilkie & Petrucelle.

Think I need to pick rookies from the start more on JS and not worry about starting price , as Rowsus says pick the Rucks , then the rookies.

Still waiting for Grundy's toe to affect him ?

Gawn + Grundy
Sloane , Merrett , Rocky
Williams , Smith
23 rookies

then spend the cash wisely , if only it was that easy ?

I think we just have to be patient and they will eventually arise, I’ll be bringing Zerrett in this week (not a value pick though ) after wanting him since after round 3, wish I had of started him over M Crouch like I planned all the way up to Merrett’s injury.

Is there a worthwhile $102k rookie I can pick up now that is likely to play later in the season?

Nice pick up Ken. Saw his good score and for some reason thought he was playing his 3rd game. was thinking Doh!

Mature age, 25y 192cm, 88kgs.

True to form, rates elite for tackles, had team high 7.

Interesting late replacement for Jordan DG yet played across the centre line.
He won't be an option I don't think - not in our long term plans unless we have another significant injury to one of the midfield rotation. Sier will also be back at some point hopefully soon.

The one guy you want to keep an eye on now is Isaac Quaynor - with the injury to Langdon he might get his chance and has solid one-on-one defensive capability coupled with efficient disposal skills that could both lend itself well to supercoach scoring and keep him in in the team for a while.

Hey folks, just a quick look at my team before trades this week before I offer up a couple of trade scenarios.

I'm aiming to bring Whitfield and Lloyd in in the next two weeks. Which would you folk suggest bringing in first?

Pros for bringing Lloyd in first:

I get a second VC option on Friday Night (I'll be busy Saturday and won't be able to use any Saturday Afternoon VC/C Loopholes)

Pros for bringing Whitfield in first:

If something goes awry and I can't bring both Lloyd and Whitfield in, then Whitfield is much better for my bye structure.

Perhaps Williams out might be beneficial to Whitfield's scoring.

----

I'll probably trade a mixture of Duursma, Walsh, Parker, O'Brien and Stack to facilitate the trades.

This week I can go Walsh to one of the defensive premiums via Answerth, and Parker to R. Young.

Alternatively, I could go Duursma and Stack out, but that requires a bargain-basement rookie.

A third option is to eat the loss on Parker and grab a more expensive rookie such as Hately if he's picked and trade Walsh and Duursma.

Walsh has held down M8 well so far this season, but Stack should be able to perform okay for a couple of weeks if Walsh is traded.

J Macrae or J Lloyd will come in this week but I would appreciate thoughts on who you think should be prioritised for this round.

Prefer J Macrae due to his lower breakeven, possibility of recording a higher avg over J Lloyd as well as possibly being the last time for a while below 590,000.

If I trade J Macrae in would you forego C Constable or T Atkins to select him and this will likely be funded by a trade of ROB to R Young.
If Lloyd is selected T Atkins will make way for J Hately/ R Young.

Moore & Clark to Young & Lloyd. Didn't want to go early on Moore but have to in order to get Lloyd.
With Williams & Danger in doubt this week I've decided I need a little depth in my def/fwd lines so Moore may need to stay.

Time to say goodbye to ROB. Has been a great rookie.

ROB to Young.
Clark to one of Lloyd/Hurn

Leaves me a team of:
DEF: Whitfield, Lloyd/Hurn, Sicily, Williams, Smith, Hore (Moore [E], Answerth)
MID: Neale, Cripps, Jelly, Oliver, Rockliff, B.Crouch, Walsh, Stack (Duursma [E], Hayes, Scott)
RUC: Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
FWD: Telly, Danger, Daniel, Sicily, Hoff :sick:, Young, (Larkey [E], Burgess)

I want to do Drew to Young but it’s bad for my bye structure adding another round 12 forward rookie.

Drew -> Young
Walsh -> Neale

Would be ideal but not sure right now.

Duursma -> Garner
Walsh -> Neale

Works too and I don’t have any other rookies having a round 12 bye in my defense.

Could also do Drew to Garner via DPP.
