2. Although I’ve read the rules around substitutes, I’m still a bit unclear...James Vince was on my bench, scored 14 pts, but I don’t get the points because I also had Josh Phillippe?
Only points scored from your on-field XI counts towards your total. Any points scored from your bench players are only added if you have a non-playing player as part of your on-field XI. If a bench player score is needed to substitute for a on-field non-playing player, then the lowest score will be used. Using your BAT example in your team, if McDermott does not play and Cartwright scores 100, then Vince (14 plus whatever he score today, assuming the total is lower than 100) will be used as substitute for McDermott.

3. I saw one post suggesting a good strategy is to have mostly low cost bat and bowl rookies on the bench. I‘m unsure
what strategy I should use for bench players...
That is usually the accepted approach in order to maximise your dollar spent on your on-field XI. In saying that, it is only one of numerous strategy for bench players...and there's really no right or wrong approach. The other thing to note is to select bench players with a view to the upcoming fixture so you can save a trade later on, however, if you're relatively 'new' to this my advice would be to just keep it simple and try to enjoy your experience of the playing the game instead, strategizing can be incorporated in future seasons when you've got more of a handle on how the game works.

4. After today’s games, R1 ends....so players can be traded, dropped etc until when?
Until the start of the next round which will be on Monday 23rd Dec, the time in between rounds is usually less than 24hrs.

There's a rolling lock-out which means you can trade a player out or in right up to the start of their game for the round. Once their game commence, the player is locked out, that is, you cannot trade them out or in anymore.

You have 3 trades every round and they don't accumulate if you don't use them...so use them.

I’m new to SuperCoach, still trying to work out some things...would appreciate youse guys help. Sorry for the questions...
1.POD - point of difference - what is this exactly?
2. Although I’ve read the rules around substitutes, I’m still a bit unclear...James Vince was on my bench, scored 14 pts, but I don’t get the points because I also had Josh Phillippe?

thanks for your input!!
1. POD - used in two ways: a player in your side but not in many other sides; a player in a lot of teams but not in yours
2. Bench scores only count if an on-field player isn't chosen to play. In your case, as you have 5 batsmen who have already played you would need McDermott not to be chosen for a bench score to count. And as it is the lowest bench score that is taken, there is no guarantee it would be Vince's.
3. My strategy - and I should emphasize it is mine and not necessarily other people's - is to maximize points on field. So I try to field as many DGR players as possible. I use the bench to prepare for future DGR rounds. If that means low cost players with low BEs then good. I tend to trade players who have just had their DGR to players who are about to have their DGR and the cost tends to balance out. I will, of course, try to trade out players with high BEs and trade in players with low BEs but as a secondary concern.
4. As it is a rolling lock-out you can trade/bench/"c" players at any time up until the start of their first match in the round. Once that match starts the player is locked into place until the end of the round. Notice the padlock in the top RH cnr of the players' names? In your case, McDermott and Cartwright have no padlock because they are yet to play. You can still drop them/swap them/whatever until the start of the Hobart game.

Having written and posted the above I saw that @THCLT has also answered. But as it took time and effort I am still posting this.:)

Going to be an unlucky player in that 13.

Possibly McAndrew to miss?
