Hi rowsus

Thanks for help last week. I have another dilemma this week which is project upgrading Tom Mitchell. I have 238k in the bank and my current midfield is ablett pendles swan sellwood Kennedy mundy k Martin and hrovat. I was thinking of upgrading Mitchell to Griffen, danger, jack or beams. The goal is to win finals and ATM I'm siting 2nd. I'm leaning towards Griffen bc of there fixtures what's your opinion?

Thanks in advance

Any of the 4 are good!
Your team is pretty strong, and unless you are in a ridiculously strong League, I would think it would match up, man to man, pretty well against most teams. That being the case, if your aim now is to win your main League, I wouldn't be looking to create a POD, but block a POD against your opponent. I'd look at the 1st and 3rd teams in your League, and if you think you do match up well against them, and they have one of those 4 players in common, take the same player, and block the POD!
If you think you are evenly, or out-matched, you may want a POD. If they both are missing all 4 of those players, which is quite possible, I think I'd go:
Player, opposition to come (projected SC score) - Ave
Jack - Coll(115), StK(122), Geel(122), Haw(125) - 121.0
Danger - Nth(121), WBull(118), Melb(113), WCE(124) - 119.0
Beams - Syd(124), Haw(126), WCE(118), Nth(122) - 122.5
Griffen - Carl (111),Ade(118), Bris(109), Melb(113) - 112.8
But it really is tough, any of the 4 should serve you well.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus. Hoping you can offer some advice this week. I have posted my question in the trade thread. Cheers!

Hey all

Finished second in my cash league. I have 4 trades and $21,300. I am predicted to lose by 120 points (opponent has Hodge though). My team link is in left, and our unique players this week are (my players listed first):

Def - Shaw, Webster, Goodes, Thurlow vs Hartlett, Terlich, Vlastuin, Clisby

Mid - Jack, JPK, Cotchin, Deledio, Priddis, K Martin vs Jelwood, Danger, Fyfe, Hodge, Hrovat, McKenzie B

Ruck - Maric, Currie vs Minson, Blicavs

Fwd - NicNat, Staker, Rowe vs Martin, Robinson, Lee

Not sure how best to use my trades. I obviously need to get rid of Goodes. Do I be conservative and use one trade or do I use two in an attempt to get a week off next week?

Any assistance with trade options to better my side is much appreciated.

Hi Bobbie,
I'm off to bed now, it's 1am here. I will look at your match ups when I get up in the morning, probably around 3-4pm Melbourne time. :)

Beams - Syd(124), Haw(126), WCE(118), Nth(122) - 122.5
I'd be careful with Beams..
He's scored 88 (Ade), 134 (GC), 134 (GWS) and 96 (Ess).. Removing the game vs GWS as a freebie reduces his average to 106. Collingwood also have 3 relatively tough games vs Syd, Haw and Nth out of the 4 remaining, as well as one perhaps easier game vs WCE. Couldn't split the other three Rowsus has listed though..
I might add another equally valid and maybe cheaper option with Watson at 500k?

Hey mate I'm back for hopefully one last trade advice!
Current team looks like this, with 2 trades left and $90,800 in the bank

DEF: Goddard/Heppell/Shaw/Hanley/Gibbs/Cannon (Duffield/Richards)
MID: Gazza/Pendles/Swan/Jelwood/Barlow/Fyfe/JPK/Priddis (Titch/Hrovat)
RUC: Minson/Cox (Nicholls/Blicavs)
FWD: Dusty/Rocky/Bartel/Stevie J/Staker/JJK (Caff/McBean)

Was thinking of Nicholls and Titch as my final 2 trade-outs but not sure for who?
Nicholls most likely to Roughie, can't think of anybody else with that RUC/FWD swing.
Titch is an interesting one. Can go to a pure MID like Jobe/Mitchell or go with a FWD/MID swing like Walker.
Also need to consider my limited amount of cash and trades.
Thoughts if I should trade this week or hold? Finished top 2 for all five of my leagues...

Hey MMM,
I think you're on the right track, but obviously you can't do Titch/Nicholls ---> Watson/Roughead as that costs $149,900.
Given that Priddis has been getting a lot of possessions, but scoring poorly (102, 103, 129, 86, 86, 94, DNP - ave 100.0 since the bye), why not go:
Priddis/Nicholls ---> Watson/Roughead?
That costs $78,600, gets you the 2 players you wanted, and leaves you with pretty good coverage everywhere!
Good luck :)

Agree with this and you know Watson will play every game (injury aside)

Looking at how the POD's of the 22 players will probably match-up:

Obviously, if Priddis is a late out as has been suggested in some places, it removes T Mitchell from his/her POD list. It will be interesting to see if that Mid donut gets covered, too.
You obviously need to avoid using Webster and Rowe, if you can, and the obvious fixes are to replace Goodes and NicNat. That gives you $910,900 to go shopping. To me it looks pretty simple. Even though there is a question mark on both, I think with that amount of money it just screams Pavlich/Dixon. Any other players mean you will be looking for a "value" pick in one or other line.
Pavlich v GWS, Melb, Port, Stk - you have to love that draw! Dixon v Melb, Port, StK, GWS - NICE!
I'd avoid Hartlett, his record is much better in winning teams, than losing, and he has Geelong this week.
Those 2 in, plus the question mark your opponent has on Hodge, plus being forced to possibly play Lee should nearly get you home this week!
Good luck :)

Thanks Rowsus! Your advice confirms my thinking so it will be Goodes/NicNat to Dixon/Pavlich. Like you said, this presents some level of risk but it also eliminates the need to raise further funds or skimp in one of the lines. Will need to monitor the opposition to see how he msnages that mid donut. Robinson out too helps! (although SC Gold has the orange light on him??).

Hi Rowsus,

As you know I proposed a bit of a trade plan last week, but in the end decided not to follow through with any trades.
So that leaves me with...

I have a RUC/FWD issue with Nic Nat, Nichols and Buddy obviously, and am looking at getting in Pavlich this week, although Bartel is another option.
Tom Mitchell is also a little worrying at M8, considering SYD have a fairly tough run to come. I have listed a few MID's that interest me.

I have the funds to go Mitchell ---> Watson, and Nic Nat ---> Pavlich this week.
That would leave us one trade, and not a great deal of cash.
I think the Nichols/Nic Nat ---> Pavlich is a must, will also avoid a donut.
The trade to sure up M8 though I am not so sure on, I could wait another week on that, do a Webster/Pittard downgrade ---> DEF/FWD rookie to have extra cover with Staker and then extra funds to use with my last trade, getting a pricer MID.

Your thoughts Rowsus or any forum members if you have a chance, cheers. :)

Yes I might need to consider going Priddis to Watson if that's the case.
Question now is should I trade out Nicholls this week to Roughie or wait another week?

Pros: I get to play Roughy this week against a depleted St.Kilda over Staker
Cons: Roughy will still fall in price with a B/E of 138, although not much

I think I'd do it this week.
You mentioned it was your last 2 trades, so waiting for price drops won't really have any affect.
May as well get Roughies score against the disappointing Saints. You'd reckon Hawthorn will be looking for a big win this week, after last weeks inept performance.
Good luck :)

Hi Saintellica,
great job, to be in such a strong position. Well done!

My suggestion for you this week is:

Staker out, SJ down to the Fwd line, Swan/Beams/Barlow in.
Stick the (E) on Buddy for Friday night, and see how he goes.

This leaves you $250k-$324k.

With your 2nd trade turn one of Mitchell T or Martin K into Swan/Beams/Barlow. Using Martin would be preferable, but that depends on which of the two Premiums you choose to bring in.
I'd be happy to run with your backline as it is this week, and see what happens. Who knows? You may not be playing at all next week!
Good luck

Hi Rowsus,

Great advice, most appreciated, just didn't see this option (see above) especially with Buddy now out. By trading out K Martin and Staker I have $1,115,500. To get Swan/Jack/Griffen my second premium would need to be Watson. Is he too risky? Just short of cash for Beams/Watson and really think I need to keep Mitchell for any midfield carnage in the next few weeks.

Other option is running with Barlow and Montagna or the like.

What would you do?

cheers

I think you have 2 choices.
First, do your NicNat/Mitchell ---> Pavlich/Watson, and hold your last trade for a couple of weeks, as you have very thin Mid cover.
Second, you don't need Nicholls while you have Ryder giving you cover. Nicholls out, McBean up, Cheap donut into the Fwd line.
That gives you $424,600 for upgrades. NicNat to Pav this week, and Arnot to Prem Mid next week.
You don't have your trade for back up anymore, but you should have enough bench coverage to get through the last few games.
I like the 2nd one best.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus. Re the advice you gave me, is there any merit in holding off on the Pav trade and doing Nicholls to Grundy instead? Means I can switch Cox forward for NicNat and make some cash. Means having to play Grundy on field this week but I can then possibly trade Goodes for the likes of Bob Murphy, L Henderson or SD Thompson rather than Dixon.

Gives me $255,600 to play with for my last two trades.

Perhaps too risky?
