Nicks was pleased with what he saw out of former captain Taylor Walker in a back-up ruck role, but don't expect 'Tex' to play there every week.

"I thought we saw some really good stuff in around Tex being near the footy," Nicks said post-match.

"What that does do is make you a little smaller ahead of the ball.

"It was pretty obvious towards the end their backs were able to dominate in the air and we couldn't quite get the contest we wanted ahead of the ball.

"It may be that into round one versus Sydney we may play a little taller ahead."

I wonder if what this is suggesting is that only one of Davis or Crocker will play and that maybe Himmelberg comes in? Crows fans have any thoughts?
depends if they want better ruck option or just fwd could be Frampton's spot

The def rookies are quite difficult to get a read on.

Gould not an option.
Hill injured and in doubt.
Watson played but was without Ryan/Aish.
Ash could be replaced by ZWilliams even if named.
Situation re Young and BWilliams unclear with their injuries.

Brander the only positive story.

Fingers crossed on TWilliamson. I think he must be taken if named first up with all the uncertainty.

I’ve had Roberton locked away for a while but will really need him to get through without any hiccups as well.

Noble and BZT now looking like musts with their good JS (despite the Thatcher jokes last game :ROFLMAO:).
I got scared off Noble when i seen Scharenberg named in VFL practice game coz i read he was out indefinetly

Things are bad when we are hoping players scoring in the 50's will get named in R1.

My non-serious team with all players being under 550K may have been onto something. Picking a bunch of mid pricers rather than guns and (bad) rookies may be the better way to go this year...

For some1 who plays like Cripps i think Green should play the other 2 can play a CP game but GWS are kidding themselves if they dont have a Cripps type player in their side
GWS are kidding themselves, please, let’s just take a step back for a minute, they’re going alright and certainly not in panic mode to be looking for a silver bullet.

They don’t need him to play as much as we do unfortunately

Unless you’re right we will see

Surely Williamson is next best after Hill injury?

Zerk/McAsey not worth the coin - Ash would be a lock if he didn’t play for GWS

I would take Williamson if he's named but already had him on the bench with Hill on field....

I currently have Roberton D3, Noble, Hill, Brander (BZT, Williamson)

Not sure that T.Watson will play round one but hoping one of Williamson and Watson get named.

I'd take any of Hill, Young or Ash if named R1 or otherwise I guess it will need to be McAsey. BZT/McAsey wouldn't normally be worth the coin but I can't see any other options...

Does Hooker replace BZT when he returns?

Think he plays, could be a 60-70pct TOG player. May need a rest after a few games.
If “his career is at” 30 mins max in Marsh 2 why in 2 weeks is career at a full AFL game?

That’s a rapid turnaround in what he’s ready for. If he’s starting R1 why not give him a good crack at it last night?

Unless we are misinterpreting the coach (or I am).

Played 60pct game one. If selected, he is not going to play less than 50pct, wouldnt make sense from rotation point of view.

Being managed into round 1 is my expectation. Rowell and Anderson the same.

Lead up commentary has all sounded positive over last few weeks.

Maybe, hopefully

Sounds like a mid season starter to me. It’s great the fans see him as a prospect but that doesn’t mean he’s ready.
