Eden Park

watched a Test there in 2005 , sat on the boundary at deep square leg , think if I reached over the fence could have touched the square leg umpire on the back.

the Kiwis insisted on bowling short to Punter , I nearly had to call for a helmet ?

Rob Nicol was sub fielding , he over heard me saying "don't bowl short to Punter" , he replied you think they might have learnt after the 4th or 5th boundary

postage size stamp ground with very weird dimensions

Jacques Kallis always comes to mind for me.

Sangakkara and Pollock also in the mix.
Definitely agree with Kallis & Sangakkara.

Sangakkara's batting record with out the WK gloves is superior to Lara , Ponting & Tendulkar but is rarely spoken about in the same terms , similar to Kallis who statically is probably only behind Sobers as a all rounder in history.

Good call on Pollock as well.

The first one almost certainly relates to triple hundreds. I’ll say they all have 2+ in Tests.

On the second one, I’ll say Warne even though he took fewer wickets, because his teammates were better and were more likely to have taken six.
Both correct.

As a follow-up to last week's question about bowlers taking eight wickets on debut without a five-for, who has done this most often overall in Tests? asked Ashok from the United States

The ever-dependable Statsguru informs me that there have been no fewer than 157 instances of a bowler taking eight wickets in a Test without a five-for, or four in each innings. Two usual suspects lead the way: Shane Warne did it seven times, and Muttiah Muralitharan six. Three other Australians, all pace bowlers, managed it three times: Wayne Clark, Brett Lee and Dennis Lillee.

Taking a look at the comments, Dravid, Chanderpaul and Ross Taylor were all frequently mentioned.

Very few bowlers are mentioned ... maybe people don’t even recognize how underrated some of them are?!

Agree with all the aforementioned. Shivnarine Chnderpaul, Rangana Herath, Younis Khan, Michael Hussey and Ravichandran Ashwin to name a few.

I remember being in Bangalore in 2010 and when the Indian openers were walking out to bat the crowd were already chanting "Sachin , Sachin" , and Dravid is a Bangalore boy ?

Ross Taylor has probably got "lost" in the Crowe to Fleming to McCullum to Williamson transition.

Walsh could be another of the Bowlers under rated.

I wonder if Anderson and Broad are both under rated especially outside of England , might have to look up there records in other countries.

Years ago when I kept a heap of stats , I generally looked at how OS players performed in Australia and judged them a lot on those performances.
