No mention Mayes had injuries, maybe he did. He has taken a while to break into the team, so as @Herbie66 says, may be straight out the team again soon?

Sam Mayes Biography
Friday, 18 January 2019
Sam Mayes has his sights set on securing the vacant wing spot at Port Adelaide created by Jared Polec's departure to North Melbourne.
"I can see myself filling that position, so that's what I'm going to try and do. I think naturally my best position is wing/half forward," he said.
"I have developed over the last few years as a half-back, so I think it's something I can add to the side this season is a bit of versatility."

Was a funny period as Port traded Pick 6, 35 and Fremantle's third round pick for Pick 5 and Mayes, Port ended up picking Rozee at Pick 5. Lions traded pick 6, 19 and 55 to Fremantle for Neale and Pick 30. Then Fremantle traded pick 6 and 23 to Melbourne for Hogan. Melbourne then traded pick 6 to Gold Coast for May and Kolodjashnij. Gold Coast ended up with Ben king with pick 6.

The Winners there were Port with Rozee + Mayes, Gold Coast with Ben King and Brisbane with Neale. Losers ended up being Demons with May,Kolodjashnij and Fremantle with Hogan. (So far anyway)
