Not keen on Mayes instead? Another good game and his price will sky rocket. Surprised at the lack of love for him in here, and suspect his JS is very good with injuries at Port. He looked very composed all game long.

Simpson was very average to half-time last weekend FWIW. I'm still not fully sold on him as a Cats man but see the appeal given his BE...

Keen to hear others thoughts on Mayes vs Simpson.
Yeah I'm thinking about Mayes, he at least gets a rookie score off the ground.

I'm tossing up whether Mayes is a better option than bringing Pickett back in (I traded him out when he was dropped)

It’s easier for me to say as an owner, but I’m surprised more are not looking at alternatives.

By my count he is priced at 150+, which I believe no player has ever sustained over a full season. I know it’s not a full season you need him for, but that’s a compelling stat in my view.

Personally I’d be inclined to look for better value elsewhere - at Goldy types - and assess if I could make good use of the loose change. If I could, I’d strongly consider that path.

If you can’t, I can understand taking Gawn despite his price, especially if Pitto at R2 with a high BE is “forcing” you to act this week.
Pitt at R2 is "forcing" me to upgrade a ruck.... but 20k off Gawn :'(

Goldy may have to be it.

Good Rookies ??? (aside from Rowell)

I am confused , only had 9 that had made $ 100k + after Round 6 (4 of those DNP Round 7 & 2 lost money) , haven't checked after this round.

Seems we almost have to make 2.5 downgrades to get a $ 550k + premium as a upgrade.

I must be missing something ?
The rookies coming in now like Day, Pickett, Rankine and Simpson are all good cash cows.Aarts and Hibbard are going ok,

I'm in the same boat as you and am leaning Mayes. Do you need to play him on field each week? I've just got question marks as to whether Simpson can keep finishing games strongly after slow starts, Mayes was on 87 SC at 3QT on the weekend.
Yeah would be playing him on field. Might have the option to loop some weeks I guess.

That is quite impressive by Mayes. Well and truly on my radar.

Seriously thinking of :-

Pittonet - > Jackson (or De Koning/Draper if either named)

If we get Best 18 from Round 9 onwards , I might not necessarily need a R2 and actually give me some $$$ to allow me a decent M7 & M8 (eg Parker)

My mids at the moment are :-

Jelly , Cripps , McGrath , Yeo , Whitfield & D Smith and they all look like M8/M9 at the moment.
You've just given me the opposite idea, Herb! If we get Best 18 from Round 9, someone like English at R2 is looking good for me. Similar price to the best mids, but he can go 200.

See I knew my stupid way of thinking would help someone else out ?

English will be first picked in 2021 so get in early and enjoy the ride.

Just imagine how much he scores when he can actually ruck and get HTA etc

Anyone else really sick of Dev Smith?! I know there may be other issues elsewhere, and I know he is playing, but his scores are bloody mediocre :(
I can do Smith & King for Baz & Doedee... Means I "finish" my back line (pending Doedee continues to deliver tons), but I miss Simpson and Mayes and stagnate in the FWD line (Bewley/Rankine at F6).
Hmmmm....

Ok, is it crazy spending 370+k to get Gawn? He’s locked in my trade plans, I’m bleeding points.
Not crazy because yes, we are absolutely bleeding points without Max. In the last month:

Max - 642 points
Pitto - 284 points

Difference of 358 points, 89.5 points per game!

There's obviously other ruckman you could trade in and it's hard to see Max keeping it up but he's so far above everyone else right now, the desire to get him is completely understandable.
The captaincy value, bye out the way, 4/6 scores above 150, was sitting at only 27 % ownership - it’s hard to ignore.

But then again ...
Ok I’m sold. I was planning to bring ROB in this week but don’t think I can go on any longer without the bearded one.

It means I’ll be depending on an on field rookie for probably an extra 2 weeks so hope he can make up the difference (I’m sure he’ll come close!).

Had a quick look... 0 games last year, 6 the year before at 56 with 1 score over 80, best year 2017 where he averaged 80+ from 21 games and 10 scores over 80 (majority of those in the 90s, with 3 tons)... So if getting 80s is ok then that seems realistically what he's been able to deliver over a decent period. Otherwise 27 games in 3 years isn't that great ???
NOTE: I didn't see much of the game, his score did jump out at me also, but I've got Caldwell, McInerney and to a lesser-extent Pickett all in that MID that could be dropped at any moment...

Re Gawn, he costs a lot but there's more money coming in with good rookies
I think Marlion Pickett, Simpson and Rankine can all get to $360,000 + in price so there you have $750,000 profit .
Good point and part of the reason I’ll be grabbing Gawn. I didn’t think it was going to be a possibility due to lack of cash gen but I feel less concerned now that we’ve got a good group of rookies all making cash at the right time.

Is the Egg on anyone's radar? I'm thinking starc to eggmolesse-smith, he seems to have s good short term role and i pocket 20k. Or am i chasing points.

Other trade is pitt to Grundy
If he can average 80 for about 6 weeks surely he’s a good pick up? I think he’s capable of that as his role seems nice and he’s a great user
That's what I'm hoping. Worst case he's a stepping stone best a keeper. But I'm not sure i need a stepping stone atm!
Good chance to come in for me. Looked great I thought and a half decent score this week should see him make 100k minimum.

Not sure how much longer Houli is out for but think it’s at least another 3-4 weeks which is plenty of time for Egg to moo.

Double down? Egg & Mayo? (Mayes)
Not ideal at their prices but I can see the merit. I can’t trust Starc at D6 so backing Egg to be a better short term option. A bit different for Mayes as he’s a mid but I think you could be confident he’ll be more a more consistent scorer than Simpson/Pickett/Bennell. Not sure about JS but from a couple of comments above could be ok.

I was more just saying that for the combination of Egg & Mayo haha but yeh, could be a solid strat... For me, it leaves me with $260k for probably a Bewley and Dev Smith move...

Yeh I have an interesting decision to make. One of Mayes, Egg and Rankine
