Is there anything to indicate Egg will keep his favourable role?

I thought Short had a mortgage on it post-Houli ... and he's gone 118 and then 86 the last two rounds - ie great, then decent scores - and is having his best season.

Egg has gone 65 and then 119 - ie okay then great.

Did Short and Egg just switch roles, eg?

Edit: looks like Egg wasn't even best 22 until two weeks ago, and scored 47 and 77 in two games last year.

Have I missed something important?

RE: ...........Hinkley hinted it will be Houston, who started his career as a defender, going back to help out..........

According to Fan Footy, Houston played defence in rds 5, 6, & 7 and scored 117, 109 & 107 SC pts. So him playing in Defence maybe not a problem?

In 2019, Champion Data rated Houston as an elite general defender in the AFL.

I'll give Houston some more thought before committing.
I watched I think the Port vs GWS game, Houston was playing midfield. He basically rotated in a circle around the centre square and would get easy ball, then pass it off, get it back arcing around the player then kicking forward. Bit like Rocky, not damaging, mainly a connector however highly effective.

Round 7 his heat map is midfield role, played def I think between 4 and 5 which is what the heat map shows.

Be careful, think there are better safer options than Houston.

Don't know about the role but the coaches gave him best on ground last week. With the extra trades and byes it suits me to trade him in for Williamson to give me an extra player for the byes and then upgrade to someone who has already missed a game. Fingers crossed.

Ok, back to the drawing board.
I really need a defender this round. Currently have Lloyd, Sicily, Docherty, Ridley, Starcevich and McAsey, (non-players Rivers and Brander). I have to get McAsey off the field, who averages only 39.

D/M Rivers will go to Midfield (because Whitfield will take Ceglar's place in the Forward) and McInerny out for Simpson.
That leaves me with $549,200 for a Defender. I would like a defender that has a low BE and not having a Bye in Rds 10 and 11. The only ones I like are Houston and Doedee.
One problem with Doedee, who has had a $159K price increase, is that I feel that I have missed the boat, even though he still has a BE of 28.

Maybe the safest option is to trade in Eggmolesse-Smith and wait for a good Defender to drop in price later (like a Stewart).

4 luxury trades coming up , so could always go early on Ling this week and see what happens then monitor Hurn , Stewart , Z Williams in the next few rounds

Good thought.
Ling has the Bye Rd11, but only 2 teams not playing then, and with the best of 18, that shouldn't hurt.
But I'm trying to avoid a low score on field and I am not sure how Ling will score, as I will be forced to play him.

Luke Ryan was pencilled in until I saw that he has a Rd10 bye.
Unless you bring in a Essendon or Melbourne player everyone should eventually have a Bye.

I guess it depends on your team balance for that Round , but not sure it matters a great deal if it leads you bringing in a player you may not actually want.

Depends on how much $$$ you need for future trades as well.

I'd rather pick up Ryan after his Rd10 Bye, if I am still keen on him.
I'll sleep on it

Was set on T English and B Smith (WB) for the majority of the round until teams were announced. Still able to keep the likes of Taylor, Noble and Starc which I am pleased with.

B Smith or T Stewart will replace Budarick/McInerney next round.
Nice setup... more balanced than mine.... (also went for Pitt > Gawn; King > Mckay
