Good to see Hughes making some big runs in the Shield. My thinking, and I saw this written somewhere the other day was that Rogers holds his spot for the Ashes, and most likely the tour of South Africa (against the top quicks in Styen and co.) then that will be the end for him and we build a new opening partnership for hopefully the next 8-10 years.

That seems to be the logical progression. We needed Rogers for his stability and experience especially in England and there seems to be no point in changing the side now.

Yeah, think Rogers is just a temporary fill in until someone of genuine class can show they deserve a spot. Rogers is solid and in long run doubt he would ever average above 40 but for now he's essentially playing the role he is in team for.

I'm just wrapped some of the players that did well in England and got no reward as a team with scoreline of 3-0 being a bit misleading how close we were to winning a few of those Tests.

Botham's call of 5-0 still well in my mind. It would be amazing to win back Ashes so quickly when some Poms were getting so cocky without really reasons to get cocky. The Poms have had a good team but been nothing special to get cocky about.

"Ryan Harris has had an ongoing knee issue throughout his career which we manage after each Test he plays," a CA spokesman said.

"Along with all the bowlers, Ryan is doing a recovery session today and he will bowl tomorrow."

The 34-year-old Harris reported stiffness during the Adelaide Test which finished on Monday.

"I'm a little bit stiff and sore. We have an extra half-day off now," Harris said after Australia clinched victory before lunch on day five of the second Test.
Harris has a tremendous record of 79 wickets at 22.06 in 18 matches.

The Queensland quick's fitness has been a concern for Australia, however, and he's played only six of Australia's 12 Tests in 2013.

Pacemen Doug Bollinger, Nathan Coulter-Nile and James Faulkner, who was 12th man in Adelaide, are possible candidates to replace Harris if he fails to prove his fitness.

The Perth pitch is tipped to be fast and bouncy and suited to Australia's pace attack.

Australia lead the five-match series 2-0 and will reclaim the Ashes with victory in Perth.

Yeah I've seen whispers saying he is no certainty, what makes it worse though is that apparently Faulkner left the WACA nets early after copping a blow on the wrist.

It seems that whole article was based on the tv interview he did when he was literally walking off the pitch and offhandedly said he was a little stiff as you would expect. Trust the media to invent a molehill and then turn it in to a mountain!

5 fa now the Aussies, not great!! Bailey out playing a terrible pull shot which was completely un called for considering Broad was peppering him with the short stuff. Now need Haddin to hang around with Steve Smith who is looking fairly decent so far.

Couldn't agree more, I've had the pleasure of sitting and watching Smith's whole innings and must say I have been extremely impressed with the way he had played and the way he has struck the ball.

I know some still won't agree but I reckon Phil Hughes is the guy to come back in and open the innings, what is encouraging is he has scored a number of big runs to get his name back in the selectors minds. As for middle order players Alex Doolan just looks a test number 3, maybe even Shaun Marsh another crack at it with some runs under his belt.

Geez, they really ruining the Poms day. I don't see Poms scoring this much in first innings. 300 odd in first innnings at Perth is not a bad start overall.

I still remember watching as a kid when we scored only 180 in Test v Pakistan.
Then Dennis Lillee and Alderman just destroyed Pakistan on thier WACA pitch.
When Paks were 8 for 26 the 180 we made started to look BIG!!!...lol..

Sarfraz Nawaz managed to bump Pakistan score up to 62 before they got bowled out.

Even though it is nearly 30 years later with Ausses 6 for 320 odd right now in Perth I can't help but feel we are well on way to winning Ashes in this Test.. Wow.. Johnson just hit another 6 as I type this.. On fire Aussies!!!

Like most, I too hope Hughes get his game together to make a spot his own for years to come.

Not confident Faulkner could bat higher than an all rounding spot so 5th in order I'm skeptical on.

I'm thinking a real outsider like Lynn to come from clouds and grab a spot maybe if Marsh or others never make it back.

Joe Burns is also another young QLD Bull that is making a stack of runs and could be a top or middle order option.

lol... I'm just glad I decided to skip playing any fantasy leagues for this Test series and just enjoy the Cricket.

Having said that, I'm looking forward to first time playing Big Bash fantasy cricket as T20 cricket I don't really follow any particular side so can fully embrace the fantasy stats side of it to make it more interesting to me as a sidedish to the real elite cricket level. Only a week to go.....
