I can only assume his short form batting just isn't that great. He's got an ok first class record but he's been given very few chances to bat one day or T20 cricket for any of the teams he's played for. On exposed form there's no case for him coming in ahead of anyone in the Heat's top 7.
I suspect he'll be subbed in if they're a few wickets down in the 10th over.
Wildermuth's pretty ordinary in conditions that don't suit his style of bowling, especially at Marvel. Morkel's confusing though, why even have him in the squad if you aren't going to use him? His fielding can't be much worse than Imad's, although the Gades aren't exactly the best example of a winning formula.
Khawaja, Wildermuth and Tye for Hales, Marnus and Bertus. Getting rid of the chaff and $68 thou. in the kitty for Abbot or
someone else who becomes indispensable next round.

Which will be an absolute waste of a spot because he's going to have to come in and do the same thing he hasn't been able to do all tournament - hit from ball one. And probably be a downgrade on whichever bowler comes out.
I think since they're batting first they're pretty close to committed to leaving their team like that. Bizarre selection.
