Thoughts on either A. Aliir?

Looking for a guy in that range to swap from Harmes?

Oscar Mcdonald added as a defender $295.5k, too high to consider.
Yep.

I'm really pleased for him though. Hope he can make it as a forward for you blokes, we could certainly use him as a forward at the minute.

Hopefully you won't have to resort to him as a defender.

He'll definitely play forward and pinch hit in the ruck by the looks of it. Insurance for Gov, Levi and big Harry. De Koning out hurts ruck rotations too.

Just reading a bit more into Highmore, seeing if he is a possible starter rather than just a bench option (I am considering Kosi & Murray as the 2 back benchies) & came across this :-

The 22-year-old, who also impressed coach Brett Ratten, was the No. 1 ranked player in the SANFL for intercept marks in 2020 and kicked the footy at 83 per cent efficiency.

After averaging 106 KFC SuperCoach points at NEAFL level in 2019, Highmore posted scores of 112, 76, 103, 163, 108 and 146 in the opening six rounds of the SANFL before going down with injury.

Wow

So with no Frawley, Geary or Paton it appears Carlisle is his only real threat to missing out round 1.

@Ironhawk

What are the chances ?

Butts , Cox * , Jones , Briggs * , Koschitzke , Highmore / Sharp * , Murray

Maybe 6-0-2 forward line is the play
I reckon if you skip back seven days or so ago the chatter was centred on wringing our fingers over almost full premo in DEF and full rookies up forward.

A week is a long time in Supercoach(Scores) I guess

Personally think there is 0 chance Caleb Daniel won't be hard tagged throughtout the year.

To those locking him in, do you think this won't happen? Or perhaps you have already taken this into account and think it doesn't matter?
Think this is a valid point and think it won't only be Daniel but players like Short as well.

In the end even in the games they're tagged you can lock them in for 5 or so cheap touches through kickouts which won't be affected by a tag.

Then add to that the fact that Daniel and Short have shown their ceiling is quite high means that they could make up for lower scoring games quite easily.

Agree, which is why Short is my last picked premo defender in my current lineup.

But ultimately Richmond has plenty of half backs acting as potential threats (Houli - coming back soon, Baker, Vlastuin, etc). Their general team is just damaging with run and carry and skills in general.

WBD on the other hand, is extremely reliant on Daniel to set up plays, which is exacerbated further if JJ is out. I also see Daniel as a much weaker 1 on 1 player than Short (surprisingly good defensively too), despite them being of similar size.

I've been thinking about this as well. Tag trends always come and go, but if the rule changes give the running halfbacks the license to do as they please, I agree it seems inevitable that coaches will revert to the dreaded forward tag.

It certainly would make sense for a player like Daniel to get tagged on occasion.

But, Jake Lloyd says hello.

I think the difference is that coaches see Daniel as being damaging and constructive by foot, whereas Lloyd is a midfield version of Brad/Matt Crouch.

Whether we agree or not does not matter, since obviously we don't decide who to tag haha

Yeah Daniel the better ball user for sure but both are distributors from the back half and clearly their respective teams want the ball in their hands.

I think there's a chance that Daniel gets tagged on the odd occasion but it's not a big enough risk for me not to start with him this season.

Little from column A and a little from column B?

Ziebell stole some touches, doesn't seem to be a priority to get the ball to McDonald which with a new coach is definitely reasonable but he also just had a bad day, was better the week before.
Yeah, went back and tried to have a quick look.
Little bit hard to know whether to retain the faith.
Don't understand why they would want Ziebell going anywhere near kick-ins (apart from just pumping it out long), his disposal off the boot has never been a strength, but they seemed to split duties.
