Can someone tell me why Cripps isn’t great value at 523k?
1. Spending time forward
2. Blue have more support in the midfield now (compared to season gone by)
3. Coming off a seriously poor scoring season (done nothing in the pre-season to suggest this year will be better)
4. Injury/niggle prone and prone to a howler score (likely will be a similar price at some point in the season)
5. 2021 is irrelevant for him, as he's already decided he's coming home to play with Nat and the Dockers in 2022

Macrae, Merrett, Kelly, Fyfe and Taranto. What could possibly go wrong.

Gone the safe and durable picks in Macrae and Merrett and then risking it for the biscuit in running both Kelly and Fyfe both off uninterrupted pre-seasons.

Taranto to me seems the best option of the sub $500k value players so easy to slot in alongside the others.

Wish me luck!
I hope you get all the luck in the world because that is my exact same midfield!!

Do we like Merrett? Currently in my team, but this is the first time all summer. Seems to fit the new style of play, but can he really maintain those CBA numbers in the actual season?
Yep, this style of play is great for him - can win the contested ball & spread from the contest very well, has elite endurance.
Rutten gave him an inside mid role in the 2nd half of last season & he flourished.
In the final 8 matches of last season he averaged 124.5 in SC.

Although he got those additional minutes because Mcgrath got injured right? Do you happen to recall which round Rutten started as the head coach?

Any thoughts on James Rowbottom (Sydney)....played well at the weekend, awkward price $405,600.....probably not worth the risk....thoughts??
If you think he can average 105 at a minimum then I reckon he would be a good pick otherwise he's an avoid at that price.

I think it's a tough ask for him to jump to 105 in his third season from a 75.5 average last season.

There should be points available at the Swans, last year they were the only club with only 2 mids averaging over 80. Paddles should get some boost this year, but I doubt he gets to keeper level. Not really worth it.

I've had Petracca and Steele in my team since SC opened. But with the new stand rule, is this really going to affect Steele drastically (crystal ball)? And Trac looked average in their pre season game against the Dogs, who looked awesome. Other options are Fyfe, Jelly, Oliver, Bont. Already have Neale, Macrae and Merrett. Could go Cripps and Walsh, then beef up D5 somehow

This is too hard, lol.
As well as the ruck conundrum to deal with.

I would say under 20% is pod and under 10% is a big pod. I think over 20% is a somewhat popular pick. I agree with you for the most part and I don't pick pods for the sake of it, but nailing a pod can be pivotal in differentiating yourself from others. I was picking Bont on his own merit but the small number of teams he was in was an added bonus. My point was just that last nights game is a negative rather than a positive for my side as 1 game means nothing for someone like Bont. I've always planned to start Macrae over him if I could afford Macrae, depending on structure, so nothing has actually changed for me.

It's not something you can intentionally avoid but if all your players are in over 20% of teams it is unlikely a good sign, the popular opinion just can't be that good at picking players because far too many people would be capable of being a top 5k SC player.

The other rule I apply is if I cannot at all separate two players I go for the POD. I'd rather take a risk to finish higher or lower from a pick than play it safe.
Why not have both?
