Too many rookies to choose from now!

Which one out of Brockman, Lazzaro, Berry, Gulden, Fullarton, Bergman do you NOT start with??
Start Brockman, Berry, Gulden, Fullarton can be coverage for Rucks and donut if loses spot. Being a basketballer will have good ground skills as well and could spike. Bergman, Lazzaro are JS issues and therefore not in my starting team. Any North supporters able to put forward a case for Lazzaro

Excited for my PODs Harmes and Hind to play today. Was impressed by Scott last night, and equally relieved I didn't pick McNeil or Henry (didn't see Henry all night).

Backing in Bergman - his spot to lose. Not worried about Grundy, last night was an insipid performance across the board. Could easily be 85dt:105sc with the same performance next week if Collingwood bounce back.

Drew is in for SPP and I reckon he’ll cement his spot in the 22 pretty quickly if he stays fit

Bergman is in for Hartlett as long as Hartlett is out, and I expect if he performs it’s his spot until he loses it. He’s the 23rd player selected if I’m picking the team but I don’t think he’s suited to the sub role so reckon he plays.
Thanks Russ. How about Ozario role in the team. Is it secure.

Might move him into D4 to upgrade Jelly to Neale.?

Bergman will be interesting, has scoring power, just don't think it his spot to lose. Sounds like in because of Hartlett (the late announcement suggests as HH was apparently able to play earlier in the week). Unfortunately cannot afford him either unless I swap Fullarton for him, he appears to have better JS with McStay out 2-5 weeks.

Will watch Bergman and if still there round 3 will work out a trade to get him in.

30 trades just not going to be enough this year. Think the semi value style may have been the way to go, wouldn't have been easy, however a Walsh and Taranto now looked well placed.

Do we really need to worry about particular players being suited to the sub rule? Surely most teams will treat it similarly to the travelling emergency and not keep using the same players who will then lose match fitness.

It’s may be a minor factor but I certainly noted Clarko’s campaign to have it restricted to under 22 year old players as a decent indication that he may rotate the likes of Downie and Brockman using it.

Would particular appeal to being used as a way to help freshen up the non mature age, particularly the ones that missed playing any footy last year, by giving limited sub related gametime. That could stall, rather than kill, their cash generation.

I like the ruck rookies a little more because they are unlikely to ever face this fate and so it’s more a question if can they just clock up enough games.

The sub is now a tactical weapon for coaches like in ye ages past. AFL let this happen when they knee jerked a rulz change at the 11th hr without backing it up with solid evidence and compliance requirements.

Depends how honourable you think AFL coaches/clubs are. I lean to the side that they’ll try to squeeze any sort of small advantage they can and an extra player for half a game is no small advantage. Be negligent if us to think that it doesn’t impact selection.
