Gulden E for me with Powell on field. 139 is a ridiculous score from a rookie and enough for me to now start AFyfe over Powell. No other donuts in my squad, unfortunately started McNeil over Fyfe (so will correct McNeil to Powell down the track).

So with that move, I’m 17/1699 with Gawn C

A lot will depend on Flynn’s R2 score. But it seems our other basement rookies are good enough!
Similar to me with Gulden and A Fyfe can become the non-player for the Capt Loop and gain around 100 SC pts.

But will we need all the CCs we can get to be playing, to make enough money to complete our team?
(Even though some CCs have scored high, others have not).

Looking like we will have a possible non-player for the Capt. loop in Rd2 with the reports so far (Cox, Daniher, Dangerfield), so maybe not important to get a non-player for the Capt Loop?

The BIGGEST concern I have, is it worth wasting a trade for?

Sitting at 1,847 with 19/22 played.
Happy with my rookie choices on field but neale was poor and having gawn C was frustrating but seems like a lot of people in the same boat.

Looped sharp and highmore and very tempted to just take sharps 51 to avoid a possible poor score from highmore, would this be a silly thing to do? With the way rookies have scored so far I should probably just roll the dice

Played: P Cripps, S Docherty, P Dow, J Short, J Macrae (C), J Dunkley, C Daniel, B Grundy, R Sloane, R Laird, J Clark, T Stewart, J Daniher, L Neale, J Impey, B Campbell and E Gulden (E)

Yet to play: J Ziebell, M Bergman, J Kelly, T Taranto and M Flynn

Very happy with my start considering E Gulden is currently the only player to score above 120+ as well as my structure which limited the amount of players from this draft class onfield and players priced under $200,000, meaning that I have avoided needing the likes of McNeil or Brockman. After opposing the idea of starting a loophole, I have buckled and replaced T Powell with M Hutchings to access the score from E Gulden. This should soon be rectified with Jordon or Powell replacing him at the end of RD2.

Ecstatic with my selection of R Sloane and hoping he can capitalise on their upcoming draw. As for Neale, he only started to feature in my side in the past week/fortnight replacing Oliver as I couldn’t find any moves I liked to use that spare $70,000.

Same boat here. I’m unsure, leaning towards doing it after an average start...

Just caught up on this thread and was feeling a bit better until I saw some of the scores posted at the end. Annoys me to see people lamenting their scores when they are going at better than 100 per player.

I am sitting at 1408 / 17 (Gawn); 3 tons on field (Oliver, Steward, Laird) and 2 tons on bench (Rowe, Gulden) and am likely to post my lowest ever non-bye round score. Just once it would be nice to start the year from somewhere else than behind the 8-ball.
Know how you feel mate, good rookie scores on the bench with no E. Sucks.

1609/18 - Gawn here.

Gulden and Rowe on bench is brutal.

Kelly C, Taranto, Ziebell, Powell and Highmore to come.

Feels pretty middle of the pack. Could have been great with the right rookie calls, but sure many are in the same boat. Happy to have avoided Gawn/Neale

17/1612 with the C on Gawn :( got the rookies even though they sit on the pine but that always happens so not to fussed its the Other selections that make me cranky for now - Cripps, Bont, Degoey, Danger (All we be ok by season end just wish i could get of to a flyer for once). Gawn well not sure on the whole ruck scoring but he will still be top ruck by season ends just means i paid overs for him thats all.

I am seriously considering getting A Fyfe def/ mid for Powell as I have Gulden mid emergency.

Cahill is on the field for me in the fwds... hated his game tonight, 161k not well spent (I had doubts on him anyway) who I will probably flick next week/,he might get dropped anyway. So if Powell for example does impress tomorrow I can get him next week for Cahill though the use of a number of fwd/ mid players.
Also have Gulden with the E and looking to trade Powell for a non-player.
Will leave $80k to get Powell back next week or 2 if he looks the goods.

1840 (19 +C Zerrett) for me. Gaff, Ziebell and Powell to come. Hopefully can crawl to somewhere close to 2,100 which I'll be reasonably happy with as a start.

Started Gulden - tick. Brought in Saunders to take Rowe's score. The issue is I traded Impey to Saunders to do it. Watching Impey's first quarter at the game was harrowing but he slowed down in the second half. With the benefit of hindsight I should have gone HJones to Saunders and benched Impey. Another example of getting caught up in E loop excitement.

Started GG - meh. Got some thinking to do.

Captain Zerrett - passable given what the formerly "reliable" captain options served up.

Taking T. Stewart over Mills as my last premo back decision was annoying but I can't complain about a 113. The results in the backs confirmed my feeling that there are going to be a good number of viable premos on the DEF line and there'll be plenty of combinations that will do the job.

I'm leaning on not doing it.
Based on that it's not how you start the season, but it's the trading done during tha season, that makes you a SC winner.
It's only the 'bird in the hand......' that is tempting me.

Why do you think using up a trade is worth it, to get a non-player A.Fyfe, for Emergency Gulden's 139pts? (We don't know how high the player we are trading out will score hmmm.).

Just realised I didn't set Jones or Rowe EMG as my SC app was playing up (I was going to come back to it later). I fully expect Ziebell to be a late out now just to put the icing on the cake for this round.

Just to prevent any panic: there is absolutely nothing to suggest JZ will be a late out, this is purely theoretical. It would be just my luck though.

EDIT: On the plus side, if I had gone Rowe EMG, I might have been tempted to trade JZ to a donut to take the 104. The logical and level-headed me would never do that, so at least my mistake has removed any temptation to do so.

19/1809 Gawn

Only putrid scores were my Dons rookies, Cox and Cahill.

Starting Gawn, Grundy and Danger hurts. Not starting Neale or even Lloyd is potentially a win.

Fielded Gulden, didn't field Rowe.

Oliver and Ridley my only premos to go 120+ so far.

JZ, Powell and Highmore to come.
