Anyone considering Stephenson? 354k is an awkward price but see his heat map below

Solid 33 touches and 110+ SC in a 50 point blowout

Also can someone that watched the Sydney game please explain how Hickey managed 23 disposals (one less than Lloyd lol) and whether that’s sustainable as a solo ruck for Syd? (Weighing up options for Gawn)
I wouldn't be putting too much stock of any of the scoring in that game, as it was a really weird one where the pressure on the ball carrier evaporated pretty early on once it became apparent that North was punchless up forward and couldn't mark the ball inside F50 (or even get it in there a lot of the time).

What it does do though is signify a scoring bananza for teams facing North early on in the season while they are still finding their feet.

Tricky call for us to make on Dusty this week. Recent history shows he's been a 100–105 guy, and we've just missed possibly his biggest score of the season.

Rowell > Titch is locked and loaded for me, and I'm leaning Danger > Dusty despite having the concerns I've mentioned above.

Everything out of Richmond has been suggesting he's had a really good pre-season and we can't underestimate the fact that he hasn't been able to cook his melon all off-season with Dane Swan in Vegas.

The main alternative for me is Dunkley but I'm still very mindful of being Bevo'd. Only 2 CBA's for Treloar on Friday night, could be any other dogs mid shunned this week.

I could take Walsh, but already have Cripps and am mindful of Williams entering the fold this weekend as good as Walsh looked on Thursday night.

If I take Walsh I end up with Ziebell F1 as well.

Going over my plans I realised I had 3 "want to see one more round" situations.

Gawn/Grundy - don't want to get spooked by 1 score and completely upend my team, but after 2 rounds the evidence may be too much to ignore.

Jordan - Looked to have a good role and the coach would have loved what he brought. Should hold his place and looks to have good scoring potential. Issue is, does that all change with some players due to return this week..

Will have to go early on one but thinking the least risky is a rookie correction and scooping up Jordan. If he ends up a bust it'll be annoying, but with someone like Bruhn on my mid bench I'm likely sitting on a bust anyway!

Is Tex worth considering? Looked in great shape the other day and is playing for his contract. However, he is a key forward so scores do fluctuate

I'm a little more wary of Fantsasia after that game to be honest.

Only putting up 94 points after kicking 4.4 where he was basically unchecked for the entire game and not facing any sort of effective team defensive structure against probably the worst team in the competition right now probably puts a bit more of a cap on his scoring than I was expecting coming in.

I guess it depends on how you view him, but he probably needs to get his hands on the ball more and tackle a bit more to prop up the scoring from his goalkicking, if he is being picked as a potential premo stepping stone who could average something in the 80's.
Yep, I have looked into his game a bit more, don't think that type of scoring is sustainable.

Thoughts on Jaidyn Stephenson with his role and opportunity - possible 95+ average?

Considering upgrading Daniher to Stephenson this week but obv Stephenson would have to be a keeper otherwise it's a wasted trade.

Looking at one trade this week.

Out Duggan
In Young

Will leave me $230K in the bank for next week corrections.

Did not see any of the WC game yesterday. Interested on what Duggans role was prior to pulling the trigger on this. Feedback appreciated @GrainFedBeef @lavenderbandit @Lost In The Sky
I was at the game so can answer you.

He spent the majority of the game on a wing from what I saw.

The preferred centre square combo was NN/Kelly/Sheed/Redden in the first half. I saw Gaff (trying to get him into the game I suspect) & O'Neill rotated through the middle also but don't recall Duggan getting much time in the guts at all.

He almost played as a defensive winger, he did a lot of gut running but his role was much more outside than I was expecting.

Waste of a trade IMO. Right now, it's injuries and rookie correction trades only, and I would wait 1 more week before getting in a rookie as the rnd1 score is the first one to drop out. Never get a rookie until they are picked for game 3.

Thanks mate, doesn't seem overly positive

If you had him in your SC team, do you think he's a wait and see or get rid of?

Always fun reading this thread after Round 1 each year. Months of planning and tinkering for everyone to lose their minds and make rash decisions. Why pick the Daniher, Fantasia, Duggan etc types in the first place only to turn around and get rid of them after 1 game?
For me personally it's more so the opportunity to bring in someone who is potentially a discounted keeper (Stephenson 354k). I never thought Daniher would be a keeper, he's in my side as a stepping stone. If trading him now allows me to bring in an under priced keeper then it makes sense to me. Whether Stephenson can be a keeper is the question mark so I'll probably hold fire this week.

For all those getting excited about mid priced players.. a word of caution.

Tom Liberatore in 2019.

After a few rounds he was the must have player:

1616377821947.png

scoring.. making money.. the dream! But then things turned...

1616377875521.png

Finished the year averaging 82.4 from 15 games and +27k on his starting price.

If you had started him, brilliant. You have no issue upgrading him as the tide turns.. 1 trade and a little cash netted you a fallen premium.

But for anyone who traded him in, either made the same or less cash (if you'd waited a week too long) and used 2 trades to turn him into a premium. Yuck.

Obviously only one example and there are probably countless that paint the opposite picture.. but sometimes we SCers get rose coloured glasses about these things so some perspective never hurts!
