Quick Thoughts Kangas vs Dogs
General - Just a massacre, the first quarter and a half were actually really good, the Kangas went hard and really only conceded on some pretty bad mistakes and then it became what can only be described as a low contact training drill against a VFL side as North's pressure fell to pieces through the middle of the field and the avalanche just got out of control.
Kangas - As I said, first quarter was actually really good by them, 2nd wasn't terrible. Not sure they came back on after half time... Jed Anderson injury really hurt as he was definitely leading the way for them on pressure work, Polec sure didn't help but that's just not an excuse for the effort falling away. Honestly I'm mostly just glad they're such a rabble because we got Logan McDonald as a result of it!
Ziebell - Excellent game, character assassination continues from David King after the game and would honestly love to know what he did to him because it's relentless, like a spurned ex-girlfriend spitting BS behind your back! Given the situation he did a good job defensively, a backline of the all time best defenders couldn't have done much more. Used the ball well but I'd like to see a few more risks taken by him, unfortunately he hit lesser kicks who then made mistakes and they got burned, would like to see him not give it to them and take the kick himself but he was good and exceptional for fantasy purposes.
Hall - Seemed to be off half back to me, he wasn't bad.
Simpkin - Efforts were alright chasing the ball, were terrible when he didn't have it. Needs to dig in a lot harder.
Goldstein - Did well all things considered but not one of his best games. Another ruck who to me got stuck in no mans land a fair bit. They desperately need him to work forward of the ball harder.
Stephenson - Strong first half and some late junk to save his score. Role was mostly solid but they were spinning magnets and he did spend a lot more time forward this week.
Young - Absolutely butchered it early, he had several of the aforementioned terrible kicks, they were just terrible decisions. Then got throw forward and he at least gave a contest but not a great sign for him.
Cunnington - Was a really solid return after a long time out. Class above the others at the clearances and his connection with Goldy was still on fire.
LDU - Stinker, his incessant need to always take on a tackler is really hurting him, had one great centre clearance that he cooked because he ran too far because he just had to take on another couple of players. Butchered it a bit as well. There's such a good player in there, kind of player I'd be paying overs for from North and back they're the problem.
Powell - Solid enough, tough game really but worked hard and far from their worst.
Anderson - Injury was a big blow for them, the pressure basically fell to pieces from the minute he went off and his tackling was excellent.
Lazzaro - Brutal role but kicked a nice goal and did some good things.
Phillips - Faded as the game went on after a pretty decent start, still he's a really good little player and there are too many spuds playing to not give him a game.
Turner - I don't get it, I'd be surprised if he could kick goals in the VFL and seems to be an automatic selection for them.
Larkey - Tough role but he always leads to the extra man and he's nowhere near good enough to beat two men, not sure if he's stupid or it's team orders but it's a huge problem as it kills the players upfield of options. I think there's a player in there but a lot of work to go into him still...
Dogs - Just a training drill. So dominant and so easy to move the ball that there was no waxing to be done.
Bruce - Worst player to kick 10 goals? Just too easy all game.
Dunkley - Just keeps working to contests, right now he's the reverse of Neale, he just keeps popping up at repeat contests and just looks in ripping shape.
Treloar - Really solid game, ratio seems brutal to me, he was the guy who tore the game open and broke the Kangas and I thought he used it well.
Macrae - The junk man cometh. I was catching up through the first half so no live stats and thought he was going better than he was at 3/4 time but he salvaged things at least by doubling his score in the last which given how over it was makes it even more impressive!
English - Solid game for him, more impressive forward again.
Daniel - Solid, lack of supply certainly a bit of an issue!
Smith - Thought he was higher as well, solid again.
Bont - Also junked exceptionally, just the typical "I'm having the day off" Bont game but a big 4th saved it, as a non-owner was hoping he wouldn't so I could get him cheap!
Scott - Forward this week and played solidly, going to always be playing for his spot but can't complain with that solid outcome.
Hunter - Too forward again also.
McNeil - Solid game for him also, kicked a blinder of a goal. Hard to get dropped after a win like that.
