Had a good game. Took some nice marks. Positional play is also good.

Still upset with myself for trading gaff in SC. Kept him for DT which easing the frustration slightly.
Traded Gaff after 2 rounds to Ridley, so not a bad move. However in DT, traded him to Brayshaw which so far has been an unmitigated disaster.

Lots of coaches scrambling today to get their ruck line sorted out. No choice for me ......Welcome to the team Hickey.

Or wait a week cop the donut and bring Grundy in next week for Tex.

took the plunge this week, he has the potential of getting 20+ touches which would equate to a handy score, unlike others who get 8-12 touches.
Collingwood must continue to play Macrae on the ball. MUST.

It’s the reason they gave away 3 of there seasoned players last year.

Rantell also needs to be brought into the team. It’s Time.

Nathan ......leave.......

Think Hickey will be a popular choice.

The rookie ruck whilst ok in early round was always going to be tested R4-7 as players came back. The theory some floated that you trade a premium if needed always looked a little flawed and dangerous, as timing (such as Neale out round 3) meant you cannot sit on cash.

Thought the Gawn Flynn Meek combo looked ok round1, didn't expect it to fall apart this quickly or hard. Biggest issue is it creates anxiety and takes focus off other trades worrying about whether these guys will get a game.

The key now is bringing someone in who is close to Grundy for lesser price, Hickey looks ok choice for this for now. Sweet likely short term replacement and would be dangerous and timing poor.

As Moiera Magic mentioned in DT, his two championships was built on Grundy Gawn both times. Lest we forget.

He had 10 uncontested possessions so he wasnt exactly winning the tough footy at the centre bounce, only one possie in the centre square aswell, might be being a bit harsh but I really thought he did nothing special. View attachment 28764
A kid playing his first game. It’s a Must that he keeps playing. Be good to see him get 13/14 games for the season. A lot was given up to bring him to the Football Club.

Time to unleash Rantell to the wing.

Nathan .......Leave.

The cash cow R2 strategy can work and has had successful years. It’s a highly risky strategy and more often than not depends to some extent on the top rucks underperforming. Although the key factor is that your discount rucks need to have high JS and their position in the side is not challenged. I am usually on board with the discount ruck strat (missed Witts (but went Nank R2 that year), and started Lycett, Naismith - keen on Preuss too) but this year I wasn’t convinced on JS of Meek and found Flynn risky at R2 coming off injury seasons (Mummy in the sheds, no Marshall R/F cover also).

I think the key when it goes pear shaped is to admit you are wrong and do whatever you can to fix it (don’t buy into short term fixes). If it means sideswapping a genuine premo into Gawn etc, I think that’s what needs to be done. My best move last season was Naismith to Gawn immediately in Round 2 after I could see the strategy wasn’t going to work (ie Gawn had recovered from a preseason injury and the fixture changes gave him an easy early draw).

Yes NOTE self.

Ruck Line set and forget. #1 for SC.

But most of us couldn’t resist the allure of quick cash.

I'm still going down all rookie ruckline strategy (have avoided a donut this week) Flynn more than likely due back next week and CCJ looked good in the magoos with 22 disp. and 102 DT pts. I'll ride the rollercoaster for a couple more rounds yet and see if I can make the cash needed. A flawed strategy maybe, but I wont really know until it all plays out.

Gawn, Flynn, meek ruck set up here

while tempting to bring hickey in this week, ultimately I want Grundy in that R2 spot. I Was probably looking to bring treacy in next week anyway, so I think I’ll just trade meek to treacy a week early and hope the big fella can clunk and kick a few. Will allow me to reassess the ruck lay of the land next week.

second and more difficult decision is whether or not I should trade in one of Bergman or waterman...and who to trade out if I do...all rookies still getting a game...tempted to jog Daniher along in preparation for potentially bringing Oliver in next week

I've got the same ruck line and will probably make the same trade. I don't expect much out of Treacy, but at least he'll get a good matchup against the Crows this week. Hickey at his price and having risen 120k already would have to score at keeper level to be worth the trade, feels a bit like deckchair shuffling to me. Of course Treacy will be a complete waste of time if Flynn's not back next week, but surely Cameron wouldn't do that o_O
