Draft slider, touted as a top 20 pick. Probably our 2nd most promising midfielder behind Macrae. But if Macrae is given close to no midfield minutes, why should Poulter?
I still can’t believe how much time Thomas got in the middle last week over Macrae, just bewildering. Surely Bucks gives the young man more time in his natural position now that he has played a couple of games at this level?

Due you forsee a 3 week stint in the seniors? I'm thinking Dusty will use this opportunity to maximise his stay in NZ, with Damien giving him the green light on the proviso he stays fit and gets over the foot issue, so I reckon Dusty out for 3, getting stuck in the NZ hub, a bit like Ryder, not sure how long though. Interesting to see how it pans out and whether owners continue to hold.
It's tempting. I'm $20k short of using Gulden and Dunkley to bring in Zorko and Sidebottom with low breakevens and a pus forward line while Dusty is rubbing noses in New Zealand. And his money also possibly gets me Grundy the following week.

Thursday Night Football.

I wouldn't mind if they included the SANFL and WAFL as well on a rotational basis. The WAFL could even be played on a Monday Night given the WA games being played on Sundays.
Have enjoyed getting a look at the VFL so far, especially the Thursday night when there's no AFL footy on.

The idea of including SANFL and WAFL games would be unreal for those of us Keeper/Dynasty League coaches, would be great to get a look at some of our players in the reserves for FRE, WCE, ADE, PTA, etc.

Thursday and Monday Night AFL "Sub" wouldn't be that hard to fixture with coinciding the early games and Sunday games. Thus allowing a similar break for players and their clubs. Especially, since their are plenty of non aligned clubs who would welcome the exposure for their sponsors.

Throw in the U18 Championships throughout the season and we get a varied and interesting game schedule.

GWS look set to unleash Lachie Whitfield (AF $820k SC $561k DEF) after his liver issue.

Giants coach Leon Cameron said: “We don’t expect miracles, but clearly Lachie is a really important player to our structure. We’ll probably play him as that high half-forward/wing role.

Half fwd ... nice - doesn’t get the easy kick in points/ lucrative rebounding defender role upon returning, can see a nice price drop coming for Whitfield.

So Whitfield & Kelly both playing fwd this week, probably the 2 highest quality midfielders GWS have are playing in a non preferred positions.....
Cameron is a genius.

Can understand the Whitfield decision, easing him back in after such a serious issue (guessing just for a few weeks) but the Kelly one I will never see the logic.

Kelly likely isn't playing in his normal role because of his injury history. They're trying to get him through a full season, something he hasn't done basically for five years or so. I suspect a role change for him to something more SC point-conducive sometime later (too late to be SC relevant) in the season.

Interesting comments by Matt Rendell about Buckley :-

Rendell believes the Magpies need a fresh start with a new coach in 2022.

“If I’m any judge after watching that, and unless something changes massively, I can’t see how Bucks will be coaching the team next year,” he said.

“He might be saying he wants to do it, he might be saying he wants to do it, but he’s put the talk to bed.

“I’m going to say that he won’t be coaching them next year on what I saw on Sunday.”

Rendell was not happy with some of the matchups and decision making during the Anzac Day loss to Essendon.

“We spoke about Isaac Quaynor on Toby Greene … I can’t believe Jack Madgen was lining up on Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti on the weekend. It was just the worst matchup I’ve ever seen.”

“I couldn’t work it out and he kicked five. He didn’t kick five on Jack, but you had Quaynor and John Noble there and I thought they were perfect matchups for him.

“I’m really worried about where they’re going. This is a crucial game for them on the weekend, but I can’t see them making the eight.

“They’re playing the kids. They brought Jay Rantall in and he’s a running machine.

“I’ve gone, what a perfect opportunity to put him on a Darcy Parish or a Zach Merrett. No. He was stuck in the forward line.

“Why would you bring in a midfielder who’s a running machine … I thought he might learn more playing on one of those two blokes than he’ll learn in his next 10 games.”

Thing is what he has said are so basic and should just be common sense for an AFL coach.

If a VFL coach came in and made all the obvious % plays (aka Maynard/Quaynor on Greene/Tippa), we probably would've won both games. Buckley has made clear errors directly causing multiple losses.

That is not the role I have been saving a defense spot for.

Likely to take Ridley + Lloyd to finish my back 7 in that case
