Smaller lists less prep over 2 years, has covid already led to earlier debuts from those that otherwise wouldn’t have started till this year? I just posted in another thread that I’d seen little talk of donut to plays and downgrades could be sparse. I think it’s tricky, could mean the mid priced teams with strong benches (which many here are migrating to) could be in order if you need to be more judicious in your downgrades.
That’s what I was thinking, not much point having 8-9 rookies on field if we can’t upgrade them all to an acceptable standard. It’s a fine balance and it will be interesting to see how things unfold.

I don't think the upgrading will be the problem, with additional cash going ibto the rookies and MPs we should be able to get there...just might not occur at break neck pace that 5 bonus trades would allow in a pre-covid season. I suspect that if they come slowly or more likely people take poor JS rookies pre bye, they'll eat too many donuts over the byes and undo the advantage from the early upgrade. Could also hammer second round cash gen for that last upgrade or two.

I hear you. But I think the scenario you have outlined is an actual problem. My thinking is that if we have a few decent mid price players on field, it will allow us to be more patient and wait for the right rookie downgrade options to present. Also, if we don’t need as many upgrades, then that also allows us to be more selective.

Most of the teams with a decent bench are running 12 premos (inc Neale) and including 1 or speculative premo / expensive MPs such as Sicily, Hewett, Cripps. On top of this they've got Cogs. So it looks like 9 upgrades, with 4 to 5 of those being top line mids. So we're going to need a couple of those second rounders to finish our teams, but we might be able to hold out a bit longer with Rowell, to McGovern types if they're performing.

Where I think this also has the big implications is for leagues vs overall with league focussed teams definitely holding out longer.

I would think that coaches with those players would be hoping / expecting them to be keepers.

If we get a few cheap rookies selected in mids/fwd such as Cooper Stevens, Saints Hayes, Dixon, Baldwin, Martin - who is everyone looking to switch out of their team.

Unless I downgrade a Macrae and upgrade defence, not sure who I would want to lose. Quite like my cheap mid prices in the 200-300k range and to do any upgrades, would need $300k unless I am prepared to move on Cripps/Rowell.

Have Cooper Stevens/Martin and one of Dixon/Hayes with Ward, Stephens, Rachael on the bench.

Same deal here, I'd like at least 1 more rookie in Def though which would allow me to get the MP I like least, in Chapman, off my team. So if 1 of Sinn or Kemp, maybe even Boyd are named then he'll be gone.

I have had Hinge in my side since it opened. I want to bail out now. Bung shoulder and zero tackles scares me off. I want Charlie Dean back!

Kemp and Sinn both seem like they could be substitutes.

With Clurey out there is a decent chance Skinner gets named?

I would almost prefer Dixon as a floating doughnut than borderline playing. Don't know if i am picking Sam Hayes. He has to play at some stage.

Is C. Stephens likely to play? I have Soligo at the moment but i can't imagine that is going to work out.

Maginess seems too borderline. Martin would score well if he got a string of games but that's unlikely.

He probably won't be racking up tackles on the wing anyway.

Gone with the midfield restructure to account for our defensive issues. Out Oliver at M3 for Rowell at M4 to use the funds to upgrade a rookie in Def. So I’m left with Sicily vs Daniel vs Whitfield for D4. Daniel leaves me with $0.00 which is always cool. Have Sicily atm

I have gone Whitfield at D4, he is underpriced however a lot depends on Neon Leon
