Lol so dramatic. They played Owens out of position in a forward pocket the entire first quarter, gave him about 2 minutes in his preferred role in the 2nd, then benched him for the rest of the quarter. He may touch it if the Saints stop screwing him around.

Marshall massive, every time Grundy's been stronger he's fallen over and got the free kick, very clever if he's doing it intentionally and given the umpires are eating out of his hand on it, why stop. Working harder around the ground which is a massive effort as Grundy isn't dogging it tonight like he did last year often, just genuinely workrate from Marshall.

Grundy ruckwork was exceptional in the 2nd, some really great hitouts in that quarter. Not doing much around the ground and giving away too many frees is really holding him back.

Hayes massive half, role isn't great but if he's going to score 25 points in his 5 minutes on ball each quarter, who cares

Owens went to a few CB in the 2nd, got a tackle and then undid it with a free. He's completely unsighted otherwise, definitely some work to do if he's going to play next week.

Steele is scoring very well given how badly he's fallen off since the first 10 minutes, disposal been awful but he just works hard and his ability to find space around the ground for marks is just elite.

Gresham role as expected, mostly forward very limited midfield time. Will probably build as season goes.

Lipinski spent most of the 2nd on the bench unfortunately, already seems to have a genuine connection with Grundy going which is nice.

Daicos is a little ball pig. Might have to start calling him svinja (Macedonian for pig)! Way he's playing he's genuinely got keeper potential once he gets the DPP change. Either way looks a rookie you'll want to hang onto for a long time!

De Goey role better than I expected, much higher and freer that I thought it would be. Playing well.

Howe everywhere so far, it's amazing how these guys can just show up on no preseason and do this!

Pendles definitely getting DPP at this rate, playing well but he definitely is going for quality over quantity down back!

I know I had Ginnivan on my radar  Been really good and role is solid.

Sidey role alright but not just not getting a lot of pill. What he did was top notch but going to need higher quantity to sustain over the season.

Crisp turning into a ratio king, totally saw that coming as well. What he's done has been good but not getting the quantity so far, needs to lift as the DT is the driver to his SC and relying on ratio porn is not his modus operandi!

I'm not sure why anyone would expect the debutant to get a prime midfield role.

This is a side that doesn't playing Billings or Hunter Clark in the midfield because Ratten genuinely prefers Crouch, Dunstan, Hanners, Jones and Ross types, he just doesn't value speed (Jones does have) or ball use there, it's good for Steele (who is a good ball user to be fair) but it hurts anyone who is somewhat dynamic or kicks well because it's not valued.
