That moment when you realise you've outsmarted yourself:

R: Grundy Marshall Hayes
F: English

Thinking behind it that one of the 'main' rucks misses then English can swing in - and if it's Marshall that misses then Hayes very likely to play assuming not injured.

The actual outcome being no sensible way to get Hayes onto the field if he keeps it up.

Not the worst problem to have (which after 33% of round 1 are Crisp and Steele!), but annoying anyway.
Do you have dixon in your fwd line? For future rounds this could help.

No captain yet, probably will go Neale.
Happy with Sinclair pod. Only 100 but 78 points in the 2nd half when we moved him to the middle. That’s when Saints got the game back so I expect to see him play more rotations through the centre.
Avoided Owens. Marshall R2 against one of the best was a great result.

All pretty good so far, lowest scores are McGovern then Daicos, all else above 100. Got Hewett and Cripps.

I only have SDK on my defence bench in the Ess V Cats game. So I’m looking forward to appreciating the footy with a few beers, then follow it in to see big Buddy going for the milestone.

Good racing on too today for those that like the ponies. Sent the wife in to town for the day. Beautiful weather. Just an all round good Saturday coming up. Life’s good.

I'm starting to think around similar lines, going/gone
R: Grundy Preuss Hayes

Round 3 bringing English in to mitigate the risk of R2, R3

Yep. Must resist rage trading...
Same here. I've calmed down a bit now. The disappointing thing with Crisp is I never wanted him in the first place but with Lloyd out I felt like he was the best replacement option to go with. I was clearly wrong.

Crisp scoring by quarter vs. St.Kilda:
QT: 14 (+14)
HT: 39 (+25)
Q3: 38 (-1)
FT: 69 (+31)

I can understand the slow start to the year in the first quarter, but the third quarter was the killer, and he was still playing through the midfield as well.
For me, I'm still up for trading him but want to see how he goes next week. I know it's only one game but it looks like Lipinski has benefited more with his own move into the midfield. It's not worth forking out 570k for a guy who's going to go back to an average of 90ish...but then how much should we value durability...!

Worst part was that he was up to 55 at one stage in the third, then lost them all with 2 clangers and did nothing good to stop the negative scaling

The problem with Crisp is that he doesn't spike big scores, he just gets 90 to 110, so a 67 is mini-disaster imo

Had my team setup with job security so I could trade down if I thought a cheap rookie was worth taking. Once McDonald got named I went Shiel & Lipinski to Touk & McDonald.
Shiel will probably crack the ton as well.
Normally have trouble finding 30 players I like but I genuinely had a bout 40 players this year so someone had to miss out. I'll reassess after round 2.

9/961 with SDK as E in the first game. Should he score 70 I'll pit Sinn on the field and take Macrae's 133.
Back up is Touk against a depleted WCE

Missed a trick with the E for Hayes but have no one to swap with. Still getting the cobwebs out

Spent a little bit of time on my team and I am NOT gonna cry over decisions I have made. Have trades and future rounds to fix any glaring errors.

Folks you put hours worth of work into your teams and then you start second guessing over 3 games in round 1?
Is Hayes going to score 120 odd every week? No
Is English going to score 120 odd every week? No
Is Gawn going to score 92 every week? No
Is Steele going to score 89 every week? No
Is Crisp going to score 69 every week? No

Back you judgment, have a plan and don't react to limited data.

Peace out
Rick
