I must have lost the plot, some of the trading fading whatever you want to call it that I have seen contemplated here for Rd. 3 certainly goes against the grain of what I have learnt over the years. Then again, I am probably the old man and the sea.
I am admittedly quite new to this game but my perspective is that if coaches were able to complete a side with 24 trades in the past, then if you have 11 (or even 6-10) not allocated to completing your team you can either save them for late season carnage or try and gain an advantage now. I'm not really seeing the issue with using an extra one or two to what you might otherwise to restructure early on. Especially given most of the relevant rookies seem to be coming onto the bubble in round 4 instead of 3!

With 372k Bank I've got a few juicy early upgrade options available to me in Rd3. I already have Cripps & Hewett, so will look to get in Heeney or Hall this week.

McGovern > Hall (via DPP)
Owens > Dyl Stephens
Bank 2k

or

McGovern > Heeney
Owens > Dyl Stephens
Bank 120k

I'm leaning towards the 2nd option as 120k would go a long way towards an early upgrade in Rd5-6

Totally agree - feel like a lot of the sentiments around use of trades is coming from a time when we had 20. You might individually get it wrong by using the additionals early, but I’d be very surprised if the eventual winner of the whole comp was conservative early.

I’ll be following the crowd formulaically like all my decisions have been so far this year, but what I expect the crowd to formulaically tell me to do is Gawn Ward and Hough/Dixon to Miller Xerri and Bowey/Stephens

Going to be thinking about trades a fair bit - I have issues in Whitfield, Gawn, Berry and Owens, but the rest of the team I'm pretty happy with. I like English a lot, having watched him so far...

Gawn to English
Berry to Heeney via Rachele
Whitfield to ?

Bit of a retooling of my structure, but you don't win by playing it safe...

Have 80k in the bank atm, it's time to get the chainsaw out and tear apart my side. Ridley > Hewett, Gawn > English and Hough to Cripps.

It wasn't my original plan to use a boost, I thought they would all be better spent in upgrade season, but it seems necessary. Puts Berry at M6 and one of JHF, Daicos and Stephens on my bench (Ward already on the bench).

I want to hold on Ward, JHF and Berry, think all will make decent money. Still also want to grab Martin the week after, could be for Durdin or MacDonald or even Ward if he doesn't impress again.

Need to get N Martin to get Heeney and don’t have 4 trades.
