Best player this week below $533,200 in any position?

I am not really sold on any aside from pruess simply due to the cash he will make

I would wait rather than trade in a compromised pick.
Would you say Pruess is your pick then?
Means my back 6 will be Crisp, Hewett, Sic, Daicos, Hinge, McCartin, Gibcus and SDK
Rucks will be Grundy, Pruess, Xerri/Dixon/Hayes

Hall. My dilemma is for $533k none of the backs are screaming pick me. I could easily burn another trade on a rookie early but really don't want to head down that avenue
I assume you were playing Hayes at R2 before?

I still think you should bring in Preuss for Hall as long as you can field Hayes in the forward line. Preuss's score should be close to that of a DEF premium and you have the benefit of his cash generation. You'll have to wear Hinge/Gibcus/SDK at D6 for a week but them's the breaks. Use the $300k banked to upgrade Hinge/Gibcus to a DEF premium next week.

Alternatively (assuming you are starting from a balance of zero) you could do Hall to Preuss and Hinge to Stewart (or Docherty if you have a couple of grand lying around). Short has a high breakeven though so might be worth rolling the dice on SDK versus North this week and targeting Short next week.

I would get Preuss ahead of all of them, but if you can get him as well I think they're all decent picks.
If Preuss is only my R3, and it means I “miss” Hayes and limits my DPP (English, Xerri, Hayes, Dixon…) do you think he’s still a good pick?

Edit: genuine question, value your opinion.

No, I think I would prioritise Hayes over Preuss if at R3.

I'm assuming both Flynn and Preuss get named this week. If Preuss gets named sole ruck, that would swing it back the other way.

I think he is and am taking him on this basis. It's likely he'll make it to $450k-500k as a "cash cow" regardless and be ready for downgrading right around bye weeks.

With the emergence of S Hayes as a possible viable R3 is the importance of F/R swing now not as important ?

Xerri isn't going to be a season long keeper , J Hayes could disappear again when Ryder returns , with the latest news on Allen , Dixon probably can stay as a F7/F8 until a downgrade appears.

Upgrade J Hayes & Xerri ASAP.

Could be thinking about it all wrong as well.

If you're confident in him scoring at that 95-105 range I reckon it's worth a trade to open up the on-field spot for him, especially when that gives you access to another possibly very good cash cow who you would otherwise miss.

EDITED to add I would have him in that scoring range too, if he gets to play without Flynn.

Exactly.
If he consistently has Flynn picking his pocket, he might be a 75-80 type. Still making valuable cash, but not one you'd make big sacrifices to get in.

Firstly thanks to @Herbie66, @randomcliche & @Rowsus for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
I must say Rowsus that your comments have had me thinking hard in a different direction.

Your observation that I had perhaps too much value on the bench makes sense & on reflection is rammed home by the outcome last week.
In the Round 4 Review thread I commented " another embarrassment - if you exclude the injured Hinge, my bench players averaged 97 this week whilst my on-field 22 managed to average 84 - absurd! "

So I was almost ready to accept the idea of Blakey -> Rosas so I could swing Daicos into defence.
But then the eternal what-ifs popped into my head.
Blakey is $384K and Daicos is up to $354K - not too much difference really.
My current thinking is to do something I hadn't previously considered - still free up bench cash but do this by trading out Daicos to Rosas.
Daicos looks to be a future star & has DPP but I'm backing the more mature & experienced Blakey to outscore him from here on.
Thoughts on this approach? Am I missing something?
The breakevens. Also I watched a bit of both matches on the mobile in the w/e. The Pies look for Daicos even when they shouldn’t. They’re myopic. Other teams are catching on to this, but the next few opponents aren’t the strongest, so should still score fine, with the potential to go large should the game open for the pies, which it could over the next few matches.

Whereas Blakey at least has one strong opposition side in the next 3, and his team mates don’t especially favour him. And he’s more expensive. Easy choice, though I don’t see either in your team post byes.

Am I burning up too much bank bringing in Macrae over other options (Petracca?) that are nearly 100k less?

If he's not in this week, he could be over $700k and cost even more after a few more games.

Maybe I'm over thinking it. Best player of the last 4 years just needs to be in the team.
