Yeah I am, he’s been a 118avg mid in games with over 60% CBA’s since 2021, has an injury game lowering his price and probably doesn’t cop the tags he got late 2021 to start the year. Was going 118 before he got a nasty calf cork and then a strain last year. Think Zerrett gets the attention early after the back end of last year, the tags is why I didn’t even consider him last year. Absolute pig when he gets going, think he’s been the most underrated pick in terms of ownership of the 600k+ mids
I’ve highly considered him. In and out of my team, i really like LDU too.

Got this side atm people, thoughts welcome. I'm all aboard the Shrek Darcy train after seeing the ruck split last week and the utilisation of Jackson

rookies bit of a guess for now. Still keen on Butters despite shoulder worry. Would like LDU as a second value mid but doesn't fit the current structure.

Edit: Just seen a comment from Scott which makes me doubt Bowes.....TBC

Interesting McAndrew pick in the fwd line. I know you said rookies a bit of a guess but is that just a quick cash grab or a bit of that plus playing into a future ruck strategy? You have the online ESava account already as F6 so why not McAndrew as R3?

Plenty of changes since my V1 posting a few weeks back.
Obviously the pre-season round this week will potentially influence some of the 50-50 calls that are part of the game when picking our initial squads. A few bench sposts are still rubbery - again waiting on this weekend & of course the R1 teams.

I've left a bit in the kitty as I expect to be trading hard in rounds 3-4-5 - would be nice not to, but inevitably things will look different with real scores and price movements to be considered.
DEFS - I'm obviously very light here compared to other lines. Hoping for good cash-gen from this set-up as its likely I'll be down on points compared to most other teams.
MIDS - I'm happy with this line. I'm even hoping for a bit of upside scoring from the 500-600K players and am running with (hopefully) a set of cheaper, rookie types who can all score well.
RUCKS - Fairly standard options. I had English in V1, but have drifted away. He has had those niggles and has a fairly tough run of early match-ups - now an upgrade watch/target.
FWDS - Have flipped this line around the most as there seem to be plenty of good options. Fyfe has been in and out but is there for now - seems such a good price for such a great player - would kick myself all season if I faded him & he plays well. Waiting to see how Cunnington shapes up this weekend.
You have like 10 players in that 210-500k range…combined with breakouts like LDU it’s way too much risk for mine, individually many of the picks are great. Together I think it’s a hot steamy pile - sorry! I count at most 6 who are reasonably certain of being top 6/8/2/6. I’m not sure there are enough trade slots early enough in the season to to get the value on the park. I feel you’ll be fixing your MPs that don’t break out rather than upgrading those that do. Don’t get me wrong 2x 300 avg 90 out scores a cheap 500k premo and a rookie every time, the cash gen is also significant. But it’s hard to get it right, good luck.

Thanks @randomcliche - really appreciate you taking the time to analyse my team.
You'll have seen that I'm a confirmed mid-pricer.
I always pick my team with an eye for value rather than anything else... keepers, structure etc.
The only real concession is that I do pick 3-4 captain options (Bont, Petracca, Cripps this year) largely on the basis that there is value conferred there by way of the double points..
I just wish I had some decent past results to validate my thinking.

But last years winner does help to back up my approach.
If you go back to posts in early Feb in the Midfield Discussion thread - posts 209 to 254, you'll see some chat based on the work of @Beg2Differ who tracked the starting team and trades of Raymagoos - see this link
https://supercoachscores.com/thread...eam-post-230-onwards.4408/page-12#post-904583

They actually picked about 10 in that price range you doubted.. this is a breakdown

So It can be done - and again drawing on that analysis & discussion - you dont have to nail it.
Raymagoos made quite a lot of early corrections.
Thanks again & good luck

Pretty set on this one before the preseason games.

Def: At this stage the line with clearly the most available rookies. Happy with Yeo D2 and will wait for rd 1 teams and can swap Constable back if he’s playing and a couple of the ones there currently aren’t picked. If keen on Dawson as a Daicos alternative and can Macrae down to a LDU/Greene type and go up if needed.

Mid: Heavy with 5 premos and Hopper there at the moment. Can also go down to Callahan if he looks good over preseason albeit at a slightly awkward price.

Neale slightly under the radar imo but all five of these guys pick themselves.

Rucks: The line that is giving me the most trouble. Jackson a bit of a risk depending on his fwd/ruck split. Have also had everyone from English to Nic Nat, so it’s a toss up between any of them but had these two in for the longest at this stage.

Fwds: Just upgraded Fyfe to Cunnington even though he is a stepping stone, he still our best player. Will again watch in preseason but even if the mid fwd split is 70/30 I think he will score well. Happy fading Fyfe which is weird but again will wait and see over the next couple preseason games.

I am the opposite I think forwards clearly have cash cows (rookies/midpricers) that will suit up early. players like Ziebell fyfe mclean allen flanders menzie really the list keeps going, whereas the def is very iffy Cowan 50/50 at best Mckeenna ,a shocker so far ,wilmot , moved to wing and competes against better players coffield ,injury concerns and that list goes on .I would fade both cogs and Rozee and shore up defence with 2 ubers.and definetly play Ziebell and flanders at a minimum. A lot of coaches will regret going light in defence and the top 5 -600k players are proven With dpp round 6, we will need room for gawn etc. Not saying cogs and Rozee are not good it's more that they can be replaced easier than back 6

How many of the Allen, Menzie, Ben King, Comben, Greene, Van Rooyen types would you be happy playing on field every week?

A couple of things here, reasons why I am going light in defence :-
Yeo, Gibney, McKenna, Constable, McVee all playing in the most lucrative SC position - half back. In the cases of Yeo & Ginbey they are rotating in the centre square also so playing the 2 best SC roles. Wilmot wing but also part of the half back rotation, Cowan/Cincotta look like competing for 1 spot at half back also.
Ziebell - I can see the appeal but he does have a new coach/ is Hall going to be available & if so does he get some of the kick ins along with Macdonald? Does Goater play & if does play will that hurt his scoring?
Flanders - yes he looked good on the weekend but Miller didn't play. In the practice game when they both played Flanders had limited mid time & was quiet.

As far as Rozee & Cogs are concerned, both look to have great midfield roles & when they play midfield they average over 100... For mine there is a clear top 4 forward premiums this year :- Dunkley, Cogs, Rozee & Taranto. Butters would be the other one but so injury prone/style of play a concern. I will be planning on getting Gawn in after he gets ruck/fwd status (assuming round 6) if it all goes to plan so would then have 5 fwds locked in early.

There are far more premium options in defence that appeal to me this year compared to the forwards:-

Stewart
Sicily
Sinclair
Dawson
Docherty
Saad
Cumming
Dale
Daicos
Young
Brayshaw
Vlastuin

The list goes on... so far more depth in that position than what we have on offer in the forwards. Once my cheap options in defence have maxed out I have a far greater range of options to pick from than I would in the forwards & I think there would be a good chance some of those options in defence would of dropped in price so ripe for the taking when my cheap options are ready to be traded.

Second post in here - I've just dropped Steele/L. Jackson/O. Allen for Rowell/Witts/Esa. Feeling a wee bit light in midfield but I'm hoping Serong/Rowell in particular are underpriced $550k+ premos.

Green squares = high confidence they'll be staying in my team. Added Gulden in mid because I have a good gut feeling about him this year, and allows me to get Rozee/Cogs after some of the rooks have made money.

Rooks are subject to change of course! I haven't done a huge amount of research on most of them and I'm following the crowd at the moment.

Thoughts/concerns/demoralising insults are welcome.

Ill answer it for him, zero, and thats precisely why I'd rather go light down the other end.

I dont agree with the lack of options/poor JS angle in defence either, theres a ton of options and only going to need 6 to 8 weeks out of them, more than enough will work for mine, mature bodies playing the easiest position on the ground.

Can always sideways trade at the byes if there becomes must have forward DPP's thats the luxury we get in a game with 36 trades.

And what happens if Gawn, Bont, Petracca, Macrae, Mills, Grundy etc. all get M/F status? I reckon I could easily regret letting Rozee & Cogs take up 2 spots in my forward line...

Agree, Ziebell is a huge risk for mine. Most North supporters I've seen don't even want him in the 22 (though most agree he'll probably be there to start the season at least) and his role could easily be replaced by Hall/Goater/Perez, 32 years old, Luke McDonald is back to steal most of his kick-ins, and a new gameplan and coach who may not tolerate him getting 30 useless cheapies every week like he did in 2021. Lots of question marks for a guy who isn't even that cheap.

I've gone Ziebell because I still get teary-eyed thinking about him in the 2021 season. I'm not going anywhere near Fyfe, and JHF is the only other option for me in that price range. I'd like to see more of him before booting Ziebell out.

Lol @ Feerits comment by the way. You got a good laugh out of me before your comment got removed!
